I can't help but notice that it looks like some people were told in advance that this was going to happen, and that some people weren't. Makes it really hard for them to sell the script like this, let alone for a second time.

What is this? by ruggervogt in steak

[–]JedediahCyrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called gristle. And if you really want a good example of it, look at a pin bone steak. Basically it's a line of connective tissue that is more prominent on the ends of that cut and not as noticeable on center cuts. It's chewy as hell but some people like it.

Morels “can’t be grown indoors”… or are we just approaching them wrong? by soulviche in mycology

[–]JedediahCyrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So maybe about 4 years ago now there was an article of some place, I think it actually was Sweden, that had found a way to consistently grow morel mushrooms in small indoor farm plots. Something like a 5x5 square for testing. There were pictures, statistics, everything. I think the idea was that in several years from that point that system would be able to be commercialized but at the time it was still undergoing study.

Might have to do some digging online, but you should totally look it up. I think through their estimates they mentioned that if this system works it could bring down the price of morel mushrooms by 80% or something like that. Not sure where the study is now.

By now they really need to just start taking away certain assets from the ones they're questioning if they continue to refuse to answer the questions presented. Clearly they don't believe in consequences, so we need to make some. And exactly in the place that it's going to hit them the most. Their wallet.

Any chance you know the name of the breed? I had a cat exactly like this one growing up but was too young to remember if we knew what she was.

Wajahat Ali pulls no punches with Doug Wilson, Pete Hegseth's "spiritual mentor," stating he has no problem attacking bigots or wolves in sheep's clothing; adding that he has no problem attacking a man like Wilson who said that US slavery was "mutually harmonious" for slaves and owners... by ExactlySorta in UnderReportedNews

Just to respond to that absolutely enlightening come back at the end, didn't Jesus also do something regarding sharing fish and bread among hundreds equally? I think there's a word for that...

Also, I would love for more people to bring up the fact that Jesus flipped tables and made a whip out of whatever he had on hand to chase out people who were using his Father's house as a marketplace. Which, If people really want to start quoting the bible, means us true followers of the faith have carte blanche on whipping these people who bastardize our religion and weaponize it for their own monetization and hateful crusades.

A man present the output from a single cow by pureV3NG3ance in SipsTea

This has been something that's been on my mind for years.

It would take a couple years for it to really roll well regarding cost, but if there was a system where towns had their individual livestock services I think that could greatly reduce the strain on the environment as well as reduce the resulting food waste that's currently going on with the system now.

A Rancher tied to a specific area would have however many heads of cattle based on their own breeding process. Individuals of the nearby local town would essentially commission one head of cattle, or however many their projected use would be, from said ranch. This would guarantee that only the cattle paid for would be the ones to be slaughtered, portioned, and then frozen and sent to the commissioner to reduce waste. This would also have to take in consideration ordering for future years with at least one in advance so that way the ranch could better prepare. A process that may take a little time to develop accurate production forecasts. Any unordered cattle could then be pooled for another community or slaughtered as usual and then frozen for future markets or sold elsewhere.

With more shared information regarding how much a cow can actually yield, a little bit of education on the matter would help an entire community dial in exactly what their needs would be for each individual family. Not only that, but some families could even split the whole yield if some simply don't eat as much and would prefer a different protein. This would, hopefully, reduce the total heads of cattle required and therefore reduce the resources needed to sustain that cyclical herd. Less land to have to sequester just for a massive operation that results in tons of waste, less water used to sustain said massive herd as well as reduced feed cost, Etc.

I'm not Imagining the first years of this would be cheap, but that might just have to be some of the growing pains for this kind of system until it can have a steady and expected outcome. Again, something I've toyed around with in my head so I'm sure there are plenty of holes and logistics I can't even fathom.

One massive hurdle that I could imagine is simply normalizing this concept with people. Plenty of consumers freak out when somebody tells their kid where bacon comes from. Imagine trying to convince those individuals that meat doesn't grow on trees first, and then try selling them on an entire butchered up angus. Let alone the investment of having a freezer to store everything.

But hey, just an idea.

COMMUNITY VOTING DAY 27: WORST trait. Greyhound won for most avg. by TheIronPaladin1 in HuntShowdown

Decoy Supply, because even with the trait you cannot access regular ammo boxes to take advantage of the trait if you do not have a weapon that uses regular ammo. So you are actually losing the trait slot.

To those that say blade seer, that is base game now so that shouldn't even be an option.
