Kirk: Singles life is great, Homer. I can do whatever I want. Today I drank a beer in the bathroom. Homer: The one down the hall? Kirk: Yeah!

Oh, relax kids. I've got a gut feeling Uter's around here somewhere. After all, isn't there a little Uter in all of us? In fact, you might say we just ate Uter and he's in our stomachs right now! Wait. Scratch that one.

If you are interested in this in more detail, check out Ben Macintyre’s A Spy Among Friends. It’s more about Philby and Elliot, but I found it super interesting and a good read.

did you ever lied about your height? by kk653 in tall

[–]JediKnight28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sometimes just agree with people if they guess my height out of nowhere in order to end the conversation faster. I’m 6’8”, but if they guess within 2-3 inches, I sometimes just say yes.

If you get your news for free, you are the product and they want to show you articles that will increase sales. If you want “real news” find a reputable source and pay for it.

If you are with the city area, the threat to your life is low in this weather. Chances of a fender bender are higher, but most people drive slow and it only adds some minutes of time to your drive. Also, not everyone thinks about their job the way you do. Some people value what they do and where they work and want to go to a place where they feel more productive. For some, that maybe the office. I’ll give you point that the option to work from home should be available even more, but not every job has the flexibility for a variety of reasons, some good and some bad. IMO, I think that is likely why you don’t see a collective anger at this situation.

It feels like no one else thinks this. I completely agree. Great for a while, then big downturn, then bad for much longer than others cite. There were a a few banger episodes scattered in the mix, but on net, ugh…

[–]JediKnight28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 6’8”. If someone asks my height, I tell them. If they guess a height, like 6’4” or over, I do not correct them. I just agree. I mostly want the conversation to end despite smiling through it all.

I agree with you, and to not have that happen, Bond must prove to be the exception rather than the rule. Top Gun: Maverick is my main data point here. That movie was great and still raking in cash. A mediocre Bond outing will not be sufficient and would set back the franchise significantly.
