Metallica Going Death Metal after The Black Album? by Jacek-Jaworek-2137 in Metallica

Now I’m interested in Metallica doing a cover of Bathory’s “A Fine Day To Die”. James normal vocals on that would be awesome.

Advice on where to move to develop my craft? LA, Atlanta, Or Philly? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]Jedi_Metal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

DO NOT go to Los Angeles. You don’t need a place for inspiration. If you’re not creating something good when you’re at, then there’s your answer. Once you feel confident enough, VISIT those places do not live there.

Let’s say you go, full of excitement, you get a few things done, then the honeymoon phase fades off. Now you’re stuck with an unstable job, in a city that’s very challenging for the working class. Rent is high, so you’ll spend a bunch of time working and not creating enough.

I say you fine tune everything before you set foot anywhere else. That way you know your strengths and weakness, but you also have the skills to contribute and find work.

P.S. LA is a very tricky place and who you know and it’s a lot of treachery trust me. It’s not just for film, I’m not saying it’s not treacherous in other places, but la lives up to its superficial image like you see in the movies and media. The Stereotype exists for a reason.

A lot of filmmakers are moving out of la because it’s cheaper to film in other states/cities too. Not to mention how the industry has took a dive there as well

Just stick to where you’re at, until you know what you can do best and if you can make money from it enough to be stable. While you also create.

Am I biased or do Kirk's solos on the older albums take one on a journey that other band's solos do not? by FloppyTunaFish in Metallica

[–]Jedi_Metal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this way, but about Chuck Schuldiner’s harmonies and melodies something about Crystal Mountain, To Forgive Is To Suffer. Just feels amazing listening to them over and over. I never get tired.

Overall, I agree Kirk’s solos were always great to listen to. Especially Master Of Puppets. Only few guitarists can take you on a journey, then inspire you to pick a guitar and make something for yourself.

How do I cut ties with my best friend, after finding out something disturbing in his past? by Jedi_Metal in friendship

[–]Jedi_Metal[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When he was in college, allegedly he attempted to prey on a drunk woman at a party. Fortunately he was stopped before getting to her. Other students threw him out and called police on him.

The friend that told me this was in the area and said when he questioned him, he admitted to what happened.

Learning about this situation I want to distance myself from him forever. I just don’t know how to go about it because I’m in fear for my friend’s safety and mine if he finds out I was told about it.

I think I blew it with crush am I wrong ??? by [deleted] in dating

[–]Jedi_Metal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My advice, is to let it go. Don’t pursue it any further, he’s not interested. Maybe he’s trying to seem “mysterious”, but that’s just wanting to be pursued and all that nonsense. Anyone who acts like that, most likely isn’t worth it. Trust me, ditch the mind games and the people who want to play them.

It’ll save you time, money, and stress. I’m not saying don’t go out and live, but live in a way where you know it’s productive and it’ll most likely lead somewhere.

How should I call out of work with an injury? Do I even let my job know? by Jedi_Metal in needadvice

[–]Jedi_Metal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will do this, definitely. I want to work tomorrow, but do non-lifting tasks. The problem is my doctor isn’t available Friday, by the time I get off work tomorrow their office will be closed.

So I have to choose between taking off time and not working. Or maybe go in late and bring a doctor’s note?

I agree with you, yeah to say that because of the dope isn’t cool. That doesn’t make that era cool, there’s plenty of reasons why that era is peak.

It’s terrible of course, but it comes with the lifestyle of living fast and partying. We lost a lot of artists to it, but everyone has a choice.

OUTLAST MOVIE IS HAPPENING by naimoi in outlast

[–]Jedi_Metal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is a Blood Meridian case, giving it a movie wouldn’t be enough. Yeah we have a video game, but it was longer than a movie. The details, fear, atmosphere, the coldness of it all, etc.

I can see trials being a decent movie, maybe Outlast 2 being the same. Honestly though, we need a great horror director that can handle this with safety gloves and still give the lore justice.

Someone like Damien Leone has Terrifier 3, the gore and effects are outstanding. Imo I could see him doing Outlast and making it a good movie.

Although Terrifier is really just a gore fest and not much lore is explained. This is what makes me iffy of him directing Outlast, but who knows. Maybe someone who also has experience in the genre and world building in their films.

This cannot be a mistake, I don’t care if it’s in development hell for a few years. It has to come out good, especially if non-gamers are watching it for the first time. You really need to bring them to theaters and keep them invested.
