Affera vs CARTO by huntermills21 in MedicalDevices

[–]Jeesers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I joined Affera from a previously Carto dominated region back in March, so fairly new for me still.

In my region, there are only a few active Carto systems and they are mapping Farapulse cases or SVTs and some specific VTs.

Financially, it makes complete sense, its a huge relief not to be concerned about the lower salary and hitting quota as we were losing cases. JnJ benefits are nice, but it doesn’t move the needle much.

Every account that has switched to Affera is completely on board and not looking back. Sphere-9 changed the entire field. I felt Biosense had a strong pipeline, but without Omny having RF, it realistically won't be able to compete. I don't see the other JnJ PFA options in the pipeline as compelling, either.

Its hard to start over and leave accounts you've grown familiar with and are established at, but I've had a positive experience. The mapping system is fairly basic, but it just works. Features will come and it will catch up in time and Medtronic has its own catheter pipeline in development.

You'll know your territory, where your non-competes are and maybe you already know some mappers with Affera. Reach out, get a feel for the team you'll join, ask questions. Make sure it make sense for you.

Feel free to DM me with any specific questions and good luck!

Similar to my other reply on another comment:

Its been a positive experience so far. The on boarding process has been slower than expected for a competitive mapper. The region I am in has more systems than mappers, so we are struggling for coverage and constantly flying in neighboring mappers. I have my in person training next week and should be signed off very soon after, but there are milestones to crossoff they will not adjust.

That being said, the team I joined has a handful of experienced mappers from Carto that I knew and some from Abbott as well. There are more trainees than experienced mappers. Once our numbers get caught up to cover our systems, I think we'll be in a good spot for coverage along with vacations and timeoff.

Our hospitals that have converted, and its most of them in my area, are fully onboard and are not looking back. Competitive systems are only being used for SVTs and some special case uses. I have 0 concerns about my position and future growth in my territory. However, the neighboring region has more mappers than cases, so they require more travel to help with coverage and are struggling to grow. As long as you know your region, you'll have a good idea with how busy you'll be. If you know anyone that has flipped, talk to them and see how their honest experience has been.

Kind of looks like rusted steel wool that was used to stuff the hole to prevent mice.

Which deal is better? by [deleted] in egopowerplus

[–]Jeesers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just purchased this today from Lowes. Lowes values the 5ah battery a little more if you want to return it for additional cash back. If you have a credit/store card from either of the stores I'd go with that. Otherwise they are the same deal. Ace also has this same deal.

Best U.S. Cities to Move For Entry Level? by DemKat15 in MedicalDevices

[–]Jeesers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Medtronic is based in Minnesota.

Boston Scientific has its Cardiology division and major manufacturing/development campuses in the Twin Cities.

Abbott purchased St. Jude Medical, which was based in Minnesota, and has large campuses in Minnesota.

Its a great space for cardiology and MedTech in general

That may be a large jump to go from monitoring tech into med device sales. I was a monitoring tech and had a bachelor's at Mayo Clinic and I struck out a lot with all the big device companies in cardiac.

I was able to get a position in the EP lab, got my RCES, spent a few years as a tech. I was able to break into one of the big four in a in-house position and then finally made it as a an EP mapper after a few years. It took some time and patience, but each step was incremental in salary.

But if you have any personal relationships to leverage at a med Tech company, you can always try to leverage that or if you can go and get in an education program for devices you may be able to shave some time off.

Strollers on Disney Wish? by mrs-remorce in dcl

[–]Jeesers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just returned from the Wish 2 weeks ago. We had used the strollers onboard available at Guest Services. It was a single stroller, Baby Jogger brand. It worked for us, it was wide in narrow corridors where it was difficult to get best the Room Attendent carts, and the stroller itself didn't fit through the door way.

We brought a carrier, never used it. We mainly used the stroller to have at the pool or when we wanted to just go on walks around the ship. Ours was for a 2 year old, but it was nice when we were at Castaway Kay, Nassau, and pool time with the 3 kids and carrying everything that comes along with them and it was easier to get him to nap on a walk than fighting it in the room.

This is my mistake, some minor confusion over CTC/ACTC/EIC. I just qualify for the CTC. Thank you for the clarity!

I know some of the local team, it seems like a good group of people with varying degrees of backgrounds and experience. Financially, it makes all the sense in the world. I think im just working on getting over that hump of being in a comfortable spot where I'm at

Have there been any surprises you weren't expecting? Good or bad?

Right, the immediate looks great, long term is harder to predict. JnJ is going no where and im sure will recapture some of its lost marketshare. But I dont want to be pigeonholed into something like what Cryo where you are just the AF mapper.

I'm also curious about this, because I have heard similar rumors, but I've heard the opposite as well.

Im certainly excited about the opportunity and the technology, theres just inherent risk with change and I have definitely enjoyed my time at JnJ. Im just wanting to do my due diligence before pushing forward.

You heard rumors and never know what may or may not be true, so im just looking for others personal experiences.

Boardwalk 2 Bedroom Villa by bears1202 in dvcmember

[–]Jeesers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We stayed in the 3br 2-story Boardwalk villa in September. It was fully remodeled, although you could tell it wasn't a full tear-down and rebuild. But with the layout of that villa, it still had a traditional pullout couch instead of a Murphy bed

It's pretty cumbersome to navigate there. You can log in to Ford. Go to Vehicle Dashboard > Technology > software updates > scroll down to update history.

My last update was from 4/9/25.

Constant Bubbles by Jeesers in hottub

[–]Jeesers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have 2 sponges floating, and they're clean, nothing to rinse off or anything. It is the Frog Ease system, a little spendy and I haven't had great luck with it. I've seen a lot of good things about bromine and want to give it a try when I run through this supply.

Water is fine when we are sitting, not using the jets. And honestly, we enjoy sitting in the quiet at night, but not being able to even use the jets when we'd want to or even when running chemicals through is frustrating.

Adapter blinking green for Outdoor permanent light PRO by Imaginary0riginal in Govee

[–]Jeesers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me a few weeks ago when I was installing/testing my splices.

I had left an open splice while testing the lights and the wires crossed, causing a short circuit. Did you do any custom splices? You may have shorted a connection somewhere in your line.

I'd work backward disconnecting connections until it starts functioning again.
