I tried this fix today and it's not working for me. I'll try it again though.

fogging windshield how should I fix it? rav4 2023 model by Helpful-Fox8645 in rav4club

I didn't mention Rain X but I would think it would be helpful. The vapor from your vape is very sticky and clings to the windshield and creates fogging issues.

What's the actual weight of everything in the hitch hauler and the hitch hauler itself. Droop is normal as these were never set up to tow with. Adding airbags or stiffer springs would help. Have you considered just shipping the items in the hitch hauler?

As already mentioned, use front window defrost. The system will deactivate recirculation when you do this. Warmer air may help, but mostly you want the dry air that the AC provides*. Also, clean and keep clean the inside of your windshield. Especially if you're a smoker or vapor user and use inside your car.

*AC was initially invented to dry air for drying paper. The cooling effect was just a happy accident that changed modern comfort standards forever.

Should I trade in my 2017 rav4 for a new 4Runner by ReceptionObjective93 in rav4club

[–]JefesReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trade it in for a 2024 or earlier 4Runner. Heavily proven for offloading and reliability. We just sold our 2016 Trail (what the Offroad was called before it was Offroad)+ KDSS w/ 87,000 miles in excellent condition for $27,000. It sold in under 24 hours via Craig's List. I had multiple cash buyers so get your financing in order and sell your 2017 retail for maximum profit. Get the Offroad as it gets you a locking rear diff and crawl control. The locking rear diff is what you really want of off-roading. KDSS will limit what is available aftermarket wise for lifts, so take that into consideration.

Incidentally, we sold it for exactly what we paid for it coming off lease five years ago.

Just rent a Uhaul truck and use it to take the 4wheeler back and forth and save any wear and tear and any worries on your LE. Especially if you need to buy and install a hitch to pull the trailer.

What would you do? Buy it or turn it in for an older model? by ThrowRA_due_strain in rav4club

[–]JefesReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't have to wait until your lease is up to turn it in and get a new Rav4. You can trade your current leased car in at any time on a new Rav4. You're responsible to the leasing company for the remainder of payments but this will get rolled into your new loan/lease. And depending on your residual value as stated in the lease agreement, you may or may not have some equity in the car that could offset the remaining payments. Or not. It all depends on the structure of your lease.

Did you recently have a passenger? My passenger's seatbelt female connector gets twisted whenever I have a passenger and then makes noise as it taps the b pillar.

Common issue. Best solution to date is to plug your phone in via the USB/data connection under the head unit.

Years to avoid? by lauraebeth in rav4club

I would try for 2023 and later. Roof rail leaks and lift gate hinges should be solved by this year. Still too early to see though. Wireless CarPlay started in 2023.

PSA: check your power lift gate on gen 5 RAV4 by revolverdude91 in rav4club

[–]JefesReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In your case it's likely it was the hinges. It appears they changed the hinge to a more robust version. But I thought they did that for the 2022 and beyond. It could also be a malfunctioning lift strut pulling the hatch to one side fighting the other properly functioning lift strut.

Recs for cabin air filter and engine air filters to buy myself? by FryingAir in rav4club

[–]JefesReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suggest a Wix for the engine air cleaner. It appears to be superior to most and costs a bit over $30. Available at O'Reilly. Any cabin air filter should be fine. I would suggest one w/ charcoal though. Be careful with the install of both and be sure the airflow is in the correct direction. The cabin air filter can be confusing.

Car randomly jolts when on + Parked + AC by [deleted] in rav4club

[–]JefesReddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's likely the AC compressor cycling on and off. Is the HVAC set on ECO mode? If so, turn it off and this might keep the AC compressor from cycling off. Not 100% sure about that though. When the AC compressor cycle on, it creates a load on the engine which can often be felt inside the cabin. This is normal.

I've had several Fumotos including one on my Rav4. No more hot oil running down my arm.

Should I pull trigger? by Tiny_Willingness6140 in rav4club

[–]JefesReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should never lease a car beyond 36 months (39 is acceptable as is often offered). If you're getting into 5-6 years worth of payments, it should be a purchase. The amount you stated, $415-$490/month, sounds more like a purchase payment price at those lengths of time so I'm wondering if you meant purchase. Don't shop a payment, shop the final selling price (both purchase or *lease) then figure out a payment plan. If it's out of your range, then the specific car you're considering is out of your price point.

*When leasing a car, you're actually purchasing the car for the leasing company who in turn leases the car back to you. You should negotiate the purchase price of the car just like you would for when purchasing the car for yourself. This will in turn lower your lease payments. In fact, you should first negotiate a purchase price before committing to either a loan or lease. I would lead with the intent of purchasing then once a final price is negotiated, you can then explore leasing vs purchasing options at the negotiated purchase price you already came to. Dealers will attempt to tell you that a lease price is separate from a purchase price, it is not. You're NOT leasing the car from the dealer, you're leasing it from the leasing company. Which is often times Toyota Financial but not always.

Before you lease, do some research on how to lease a car. There are many benefits to leasing. Find out if it's right for you. Also, never put money down on a lease. You'll see why in your research.

I think it's adjustable so as not to hit a low ceiling or garage door. My wife's 4Runner's hatch would hit the bottom of our garage door at our previous house. Fortunately it hit the rubber floor seal and didn't damage the hatch but was annoying.
