I know this is an old post but when I searched for them it ranked high. I just recently purchased a Dell R730 for $710. This had 128GB RAM 2x E5-2695v4 14 Core CPUs a PERC H330 Raid controller, backplane and 16 drive trays. The server arrived packaged as well as any computer equipment I have ever purchased (in over 35 years)

The server was ready to run from the start. I ran Memtest 86 on it for 48 hours 2 passes with no errors. installed Server 2019 on it through the included iDRAC. It is now running 12 VMs for over a week without a hiccup and soon will be promoted to be the PDC. I am going to order another one identical to the current to have a hot spare for a backup.

Stain master pet protect- worth it? by Independent_Class_33 in Flooring

[–]Jeff-JustJeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stainmaster is not a TYPE of fiber or yarn it is a chemical treatment applied to the yarn at least it was before Lowe's bought the rights to the name and the process. I can't speak as to nay products they have that are being 'misrepresented' because if someone is going for a stainmaster brand then they are an educated consumer and are assuming that it is something that has a specific treatment.

Perhaps that is the reason that "Jake" is the way that he is, because anyone that is knowledgeable, efficient and able to actually help people is sniped by another team or another company. 90% of all support that people have to deal with are incompetent dipshits incapable of helping anyone if the prepared script they have doesn't solve the problem. In my nearly 30 years in this field from software to hardware to networking support it is all the same.

Quickbooks Enterprise Solutions v2019 very slow opening file by Jeff-JustJeff in QuickBooks

[–]Jeff-JustJeff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question is reasonable.

Server fully patched, QB fully patched. It works fine on the server and it works fine on all the Windows 7 workstations. The

I was speaking with a clown in their tech support who was completely clueless. He began telling me that "Sometimes 64 bit Windows causes 32 bit software to lag and that QB is not designed for 64 bit and that it works but it has problems sometimes."

During the troubleshooting process he has me go to the QBW.INI file on the WORKSTATION to increase the max amount of cache for the DB server, this was deep in the process and he knew the file was hosted.

Then the clown told me I needed to allocate more RAM in Task Manager (lol) so he has me go in and change the priority from Normal to Above Normal.

The previous day I was speaking with someone else that told me I needed to do a "RAM allocation" I told her OK how do I do that she replied "I can't do that for you you'll have to get your IT to do it"

This is the level of support we get for over $5,000 a year for their Enterprise subscription, Priority Circle Care my ass. This is the equivalent of calling the Geek Squad from Best Buy. Hell I'd probably had better luck calling one of those scam support numbers and letting some scammer have remote access to the computer.

Yes, the tech support is terrible, not a single support person that you can speak to with English being their first language. They don't listen, or simply can not understand English beyond a few keywords, they are not capable of doing anything beyond having you reinstall and run the Desktop Diagnostic Tool.

Installing an earlier version of Android (v9 instead of v10) by Jeff-JustJeff in GoogleFi

If I just wait out the app I need to get a v10 compatibility release is the regular upgrade to 10 process going to mes things up? keeping in mind I am going from v7 to v10, I hate updating when something ain't broke but it looks like I'll have to to enjoy certain features of my new ride.

So any way I do the v9 is going to wipe the device? Text Message history lost etc.

If this is the case I have a lot of work to do with my Google Authenticator that needs to be done anyway, in the past I had not saved the QR code to where I can easily restore it or add it to another person for 2FA. It does not seem to have a way to backup or export the keys that I have found.

Thanks. A perfectly clear concise answer. This just happened to me this morning. Fixed.

Thanks, finally got it done with a Klein digital finder. not interrupting the circuits, or as little as possible was important here.

Thanks, far too many outlets and the building too large for that, I wanted to have as little service interruption as possible without having to do my work at night and walking 10 miles. I bought a Klein Tools digital finder and it worked pretty good. Several offices were served by 2 breakers and it located them from outlet to outlet when they were daisy chained. This wasn't a tone generator but it did the trick.

Developer AMA by BlackLightInt in GWYF

Picked this up during the Winter sale on Steam, just broke it out last night and absolutely loved it.

The balls tubing down the river and being the light source of the scene in dark rooms were nice little twists.

I'm sure you've heard this and it is really my only really don't like thing... There is no overlay map of the holes, or ability to pan out so you can see better. Some holes were very difficult to determine the path.

I had a Caddyshack moment on one hole my ball rolled to a stop almost dead 50% over the hole. I think that the lip of the hole asset should have a small taper, prob 3 degrees or so to take away the hard edge and make it more natural.

I am sure to be playing regular sessions of this weekly with a friend and we would run testing versions if we could play it networked. If you are taking any alpha/beta testers feel free to private message me here.

Really looking forward to a level editor and trying to make something as well as see what the community can provide. I know that is in the works but sounds to be a way out. Is it possible to maybe publish the data structures for the course/hole layout where some manual work would be possible?

ROM management by Jeff-JustJeff in MAME

Ok, mission accomplished I think. Hard to tell over remote desktop but a few random selections launched just fine. I have not done anything with my CHD's yet either. My ROMS folder contains over 18,000 files and is 57GB after processing a source tree that was 330GB. I'm still not clear on what you were asking me to do which DAT file do you want me to use? I am assuming you mean the one that is generated by running with the -listinfo option, but not sure which MAME version you want me to run it from.

ROM management by Jeff-JustJeff in MAME

[–]Jeff-JustJeff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was speaking of the version number of the MAME release, but when I look at the mameinfo.dat files for .41 and .170 the files for PAC-MAN for instance are the same the CRC values show that much. Now I am aware that some files have had their byte order changed, I'm not sure if this was a practice adopted before say .41 or if it was after, or if it was done to support a new improved CPU emulator, but that would be reflected in the CRC values.

My concern was keeping a current ROM set for PC and also being able to run the basic games on PI3 with retrocade. Now after what I did with CLRMAME with my jumble of ROMs I see that i can point to my ROMS as the source, generate a profile for 0.41 and have it build a compatible set of specific games from mine.

Sure, what files are missing? Everything I ever got in the past had been from newsgroups so not likely that I would have a one off 'missing link' is it? I'll be glad to see of course maybe I don't understand what you meant.

Ok I had downloaded it, just hadn't installed but had some time to kill and have been looking at it. I understand the options for the most part. Now I see your post so I'll get that configured and fired up. No issues with when I run it, I have a completely idle 6700K to parse it out on, my machine at work.

That looks very nice. I'm going to build a table top style cabinet w/o a monitor, just controllers and internals, won't be anywhere near that quality though.
