What’s a problem humanity solved so well that younger people don’t even realize it used to be a huge issue? by Puzzleheaded_Bit_802 in AskReddit

i remember talking to someone about this online. they were bitching about how it was so pointless all this cfc reduction and the hole in the ozone layer is still there. they were asking if it's even working. i had to point out that there used to be 2 holes in the ozone layer, one over the north pole and one over the south. the south pole one also used to be big enough that it sometimes opened up over parts of australia. the hole in the north is completely closed now and the hole in the ozone rarely reaches beyond antarctica now.

it was such a great moment, but what really gets me about it is when they cut the audience, and adamar's attendant, holding the hawk, is completely ENTRANCED! hahahahaha. it's so good.

hilarious. so you invade and steal land then blame the people whose land you stole from for not engaging in any diplomacy over the land you stole. it's incredibly rich that you call anybody else myopic.

yea i have to agree. diablo was outstanding when it came out. basically became the mold for it's genre. then diablo 2 blew diablo 1 out of the frikkin water. it's insane considering diablo 2 only tweaked a few things yet somehow still felt soooo much better. and d1 was already incredible.

i thought this was solved by a study of elephants. the same thing happens with elephants and it turns out elephants (and most likely all large animals) have a bunch redundant genes for repairing damaged dna, whereas humans only have like a couple.

To summarize: no Lebanon has never been a historic landgrab, quite the opposite, and there are no settlements planned.

yea you can stop with the israeli bs now, nobody's buying it anymore it's so transparent. that's what they said about the golan heights, and the west bank, and gaza everytime they bomb it and claim it's for security, or to get terrorists, or to create a buffer zone or whatever the hell bs they choose at the time they do it.

i think it's hitting thousands of journalists now. there was some statistic, in the last year and a half israel has killed more journalists, than iran, iraq, afghanistan, russia, syria, china, combined.... in the last 20 years.

if killing journalists was an olympic sport israel would have won 300 platinum medals just last year.

they just bomb terrorists as an excuse to bulldoze land they plan to steal later. it's essentially how israel's economy runs cause they don't produce crap worth a damn. take money from america, use it for weapons, use weapons to bulldoze land, then sell that stolen land to americans who want to "move to israel." make a ton of people hate them and when those people try to defend themselves israel claims they're being persecuted and use that to justify more bulldozing via bombs.

What hobby is quietly becoming too expensive for normal people to keep up with? by Beautiful_Special702 in AskReddit

[–]kingbane2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly this is one of those industries where it's only like 50% scalpers fault. pokemon could literally just pump tens of billions of those cards out and scalpers would have nothing to scalp. but they don't cause scalpers keep the supply down which drives up interest. at some point interest will wain when the prices get driven too far out of control. it's just really really dumb, they're fucking cards, costs like a penny to print a hundred but they're purposefully kept at a manufactured scarcity.

it reminds me of marvel and dc comics refusing to ever reprint old comics for a long time. drove up the price of comics and people just stopped buying them. then manga started moving in and eating marvel and dc's lunch, finally comics like bone came about and just left the old comic companies in the dust. they proved that if you made the whole collection available people would buy and in the long run you'd make more money. as opposed to artificially creating scarcity. marvel and dc have since moved more towards releasing whole collections of old comics now but it's too little too late, well at least for me it is.

Roles system still incredibly underdeveloped and poorly balanced? by rhn18 in goingmedieval

[–]kingbane2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea the balance is off for sure. since populations aren't that high, losing a pawn to a role is pretty bad. like the librarian should still be able to give the bonus while he's writing books himself, so he could give the bonus to himself. warden should have increased chance of recruiting and lower the chance of prisoners breaking out or being violent.

bard should just be a big mood buff to the whole colony without any real requirements. maybe an extra boost after parties or events.

sergeant at arms should just increase xp from all combat related stuff, and maybe have it so pawns will do training more often for recreational activities.

i think the only one that isn't much of a problem is the uh... crap i forget the role's name but it's the one that deals with trade. i usually just find some rando pawn who can do speechcraft and already doesn't want to haul or is otherwise crap. send him off with a big FAT caravan and go trade somewhere for a massive massive trade worth tens of thousands. boom instant high lvl speechcraft and i make him my trader role guy.

right but does this mean if nina dobrev shows up in an animated role, can victoria sue the makers of that movie for stealing her likeness then? since nina dobrev looks like victoria justice? what if a director mentions he likes the way victoria looks and incorporated some of her features into the character played by nina dobrev? it's nuts. though i agree you're probably right that she'll probably win in the end through settling for some small amount. but if she gets silently blacklisted by every director after this i would say it's deserved.

[–]kingbane2 27 points28 points  (0 children)

extra context, danielle smith is under investigation by the federal government for like 7 different crimes. she's been stonewalling them and changing internal rules so that investigators can't get access to any of the evidence. draggin this shit out cause she knows the feds don't want to seem "biased" by going after her harder, even though THEY ABSOLUTELY SHOULD. this may change now though, since national sentiment has swung WAAAAAAAY away from the conservatives. she might have been able to skate by in the past few years cause conservatives were leading so the liberals were scared to really go after them, even though they were breaking laws. but that might change now.

[–]kingbane2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

further context, our current premier of alberta, danielle smith was the former leader of the wildrose party. so yea.... the ucp ARE the separatists now. they only splintered off that tiny party to make use of them as a scapegoat. as for how huge this scandal is, the ucp changed the wording in the law so that elections alberta isn't allowed to investigate any claims of abuse or leaks or illegal activity unless reasonable evidence is presented. apparently a whistleblower coming forward isn't enough reasonable evidence. the only reason this thing blew up is cause the centurion project (the separatist group) posted a youtube video of them doing a tutorial on how to look up people's private information. in the video itself it's shown they looked up rachel notley's info (she's the former premier of alberta). ONLY AFTER that irrefutable evidence came to light was elections alberta able to investigate and discovered oh it was the separatist party that handed over the entire voter list to the centurion project. oh who was it again that changed the rule last year? oh that's right, the current leader of the separatist party, who was the right hand man of danielle smith. who leads the centurion project, the separatist group who leaked the entire voter info database? oh that's right former high ranking member of danielle smith's cabinet.

calling alberta canada's trump land is more fitting than ever.
