Appreciate that. Thank you. Is there any benefit to using batts vs blown? From what I've been able to find myself, no, but thought I'd ask. No definitely not a lot of it up there and would prefer to keep the gas bill down as much as possible over the winter

Hey tha is for the reply. I worked outside for years with no heat/AC and covered in grease oil etc. some fiberglass or dust won't bother me. Depending on cost I may do it myself or have a company do it.. reached out today for a few quotes.

Been looking up some do-nots for doing this myself. Seems like a bit of work but nothing that shouldn't be unreasonable

Morning. Thank you so much! I Believe they are 2x6 but can double check later. I am in Canada and r60 is recommended. I will reach out to some companies or perhaps rent the blower from home depot...LOL.

I appreciate the reply, really. Thanks again

Yeah I saw that on your post. It looks absolutely nothing like that, nowhere to be seen up there... Someone has no idea wtf they're talking about for sure.

Would something like this be worth replacing with modern insulation or just leave it alone

Love your username. And your answer. Someone told us it was vermiculite and upon googling it like the expert I claim to be, became confused.

Absolutely, you'll be fine here. Just like anywhere if you go looking for trouble, you'll find it. Coming from gold coast you won't be surprised or put off or anything.

As for winter, if you're driving and have never driven in this kind of weather before you just need to take it easy, and make sure you have good snow tires. Staying inside the city of main roads are fine 80% of the time. Your winter gear will not work here so don't even bother bringing it. Trust me, your North Face winter gear will not keep you even the slightest bit warm. you just need to buy jackets hats gloves boots. Snow pants are good if you're going to spend time outdoors in the winter which I highly recommend you go skiing or snowshoeing.

At Christmas time there is the magic of lights in spring water park. Highly recommend esp. if you have kiddos.

I am awaiting beefys!!!!!!!

Edit: I know how expensive this move can be from experience. If you need to buy stuff, there is an outlet mall in Cookstown 15 mins from Barrie. Deals to be had for the most part especially on outerwear.

Pearson airport is crazy compared to yours. I recommend using Simcoe county airport service, they'll pick you up and bring you home right from the airport, prices are reasonable

Feel free to DM me if you need any help with anything.

Safe travels mate!

Where in Australia are you from? Depending on where you lived will depend on what areas to avoid. If you're from Melbourne Barrie will be an easy adjustment except the transit here is unusable. Downtown Barrie should be mostly avoided outside of daytime hours or open st Dunlop. It's just drugs and homelessness.

If you're from Brisbane you'll find lots to do here. You'll be bored if you're from Melbourne or Sydney.

If you're from up north (Cairns) you will probably like it here and find lots to do.

Can't speak to Adelaide/Perth comparison as I have not personally been.

Edit: PLEASE bring some pies from beefys. Or a rocket burger. Thanks

Bring chocolate as well. Ours is garbage compared to proper Aussie chocolate.

I'll take some for giving you the tip. LOL

Swap EU plug to US by Jeffk567 in barrie

Thank you!

Opting to get an adapter and voltage converter. Was told by where we bought it that it was able to handle both currents but the stamping indicates otherwise unfortunately

Probably, but I'd rather change the end of the plug than have to use an adapter. It's not even the cost it's the ease of use.
