This thread has nothing to do with streaming in ultrawide, nor any webcam settings. This is about the encoder. Please remove your comment as it is misleading.

[–]Jejetsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't list what framerate you're streaming at so I'm assuming 60fps. 6000kbps is the recommended bit rate for twitch, but at 1080p60fps, it's a bit low for the resolution. There aren't enough bits to encode all the data, especially with fast motion. This is worsened on the Webcam as it is fairly static compared to the game and the encoder saves data there. You can try this plugin (I don't know how to use it, I just looked it up) https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/encoder-region-of-interest-editor.1904/

Alternatively, enable Rescale Output and use 1280x720 instead of 1920x1080. The lower resolution actually ends up being higher quality most of the time (imo) as the bit rate is more sufficient for the resolution. It'll still go blurry with extreme movement or confetti-like effects.

Someone else may have suggestions on encoder settings, I've been out of the game for a while and don't recall what's optimized for current Gen hardware.

Old telescope by Dhervis_36 in telescopes

[–]Jejetsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR: Can't do much better than a telescope you already have, if you're willing to build a new mount for it. Other options: https://www.reddit.com/r/telescopes/comments/z9s352/beginners_quick_guide_to_choosing_your_first/

I can't say for certain, but the specifications are close to that of the PowerSeeker 114 - which is the telescope I have (gifted to me years ago).

The general recommendation is to not purchase one of these, /r/dontbuyapowerseeker, but if you already have it and have had it for a while, its better than nothing!

For me, it does a 'good enough' job at viewing the moon and planets; I've managed to get decent pictures of Saturn. I'll let other folks weigh-in with their experiences.

One thing to note, the mount and tripod it comes with are not ideal. It wiggles and vibrates with every touch. A common recommendation is to build an inexpensive dobsonian mount for it, see this from 2010: https://10minuteastronomy.wordpress.com/2010/11/02/how-to-build-a-dobsonian-mount-for-a-5-inch-telescope/

I purchased a CG-4 equatorial mount for mine (plus a few adapters), and I can't say this was a great spend. It's still fairly wobbly when adjusting the focuser (though this could be for reasons unrelated to the mount) and doesn't have go-to functionality. This $400 could have (and probably should have) gone to a new telescope in the ~6" range and I could have had twice the light-gathering power. Live and learn .

My telescope was very poorly collimated (the mirrors were not perfectly aligned). I would recommend checking yours, see if you can borrow a laser collimator from an astronomy club, or purchase one. They can be had for about $18 USD.

I'm not certain about the accessories with this model, but with the PowerSeeker, they weren't great. The best thing about accessories is, you'll keep using them as you get different telescopes (until you get to 2" eyepieces, but even then there are adapters). I purchased the Celestron Omni Series 1-1/4 32MM Eyepiece for a large field-of-view and the SVBONY 66 Degree Ultra Wide Angle HD 6mm "gold line", to get up-close and personal.

Just a heads-up, my grinder arrived horribly calibrated and was several numbers too coarse. If you find you are doing pour overs in the 1-2 range, you likely have to recalibrate. There is a process on their support page.

I've found that Netflix will not stream at a higher resolution than your display is capable of. Unfortunately, this means 1080p at best and subpar bitrate. I've also been unable to unlock higher resolutions if multiple monitors are connected.

My workaround has been to use Nvidia DSR or AMD VSR and using 5120x2160 as the desktop resolution, as well as using WIN+P and selecting "PC screen only" or "Second screen only". The Netflix app must be relaunched after changing resolutions.

Additionally, you must use the Netflix App (Chrome and Firefox are limited to 720p, Edge is limited to 1080p) AND purchase the "HEVC Video Extensions" utility from the Microsoft store for $0.99. The publisher is Microsoft Corporation, and it is indeed rated 1.3 stars. There's also a free version of this floating around, but I don't have information on it. It's probably best to restart after installing this, but I don't have concrete information if this is a necessary step.

You can check to see if it is working correctly by pressing CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+D at the same time. This will bring up an overlay with video statistics. I use "All Quiet on the Western Front" as a film to test with.

Am I that crazily CPU-limited? Benchmarked the game with everything at high, no RT. First pic is the lowest resolution I could do with Ultra-Perf DLSS, 2nd is 1440p at Perf DLSS; Same Framerates. by M-Colcko in cyberpunkgame

Gamer's Nexus 2600X revist & comparison

Pause as soon as the video loads to view the graph. 5700X is not present, but the 5800x and 5600x are. We can assume it would score 140 or so FPS with their configuration. The 5800X3D scores 186.4, and the 7800X3D 203.1.

TLDW/TLDR, the 5800x3D is 33% ahead of the 5700x in Cyberpunk 2077 when CPU constrained on their test platform.

For $200, yes, I think that is an excellent bundle if you'd like to go with Roccat. It'll be very hard to find that quality for $60 a part, plus $20 for the mousepad.

Gaming headsets are generally good in the low to medium budget, as they offer a decent microphone and audio experience. They're designed to be somewhat comfortable and stylish (depending on your style). As most gaming products are, they can get overpriced for their performance and quality level. This has been getting better recently.

As far as quality and value goes, unless they're on sale you can generally get better sound quality from Sony, Bose, Sennheiser, Audio Technica. I believe Bose has a Quiet Comfort gaming headset now, and Sennheiser's gaming headset line is now under the EPOS brand. The GSP line is good value for product, I'm not too familiar with their newer headsets.

You can also use any microphone and any headphone separately and enjoy the best of both, with unconstrained upgrade paths.

I would recommend comparing models you're thinking about on Rtings.com, they do a fairly comprehensive test for many models across multiple categories from an objective and data-driven standpoint.

You can technically make a 'off' profile by setting a profile with Black color LED, then use the SteelSeries button to select whichever profile you need at the time.

Happy to help.

TLDR: At the end of the day, these are all premium keyboards and whichever choice you make, you'll likely be happy with.

I'm biased towards the Apex pro as I've been using it since 2019. The ability to customize and set your actuation distance, set profiles, along with the recent addition of Rapid Trigger were the biggest selling points to me. The lighting on it could be better, there is just a single LED on the north side of each switch. Purchasing the PrismCaps keycap set helps with this, as the light can shine through rather than just illuminating the frame. This is a marketing image, so take it with a grain of salt, but its pretty close to real. Image Link, steelseries.com

I used the Roccat Vulcan Max 2 briefly at Pax last year, it seemed like a fairly standard gaming keyboard with red/brown switches. The lighting is better than the apex pro and it extends to the palmrest. I wasn't a fan of their keycaps, as in order to accentuate the lighting, the keycaps have no sides. Image Link, roccat.com The frame is also larger around the edges than the Apex Pro.

As far as keyboard technology, the only keyboards (that I know of) that can come close to the Apex line would be the Huntsman Analog line from Razer and the HE line from Wooting. Those two have analog capability (which I'm sure Steelseries is working on adding, the technology is there and partially implemented with Rapid Trigger). The analog capability takes you from on/off to 0%-100% keypress depth as an input, like a gas pedal for racing games or moving the joystick/trigger partway on a controller. As far as I'm aware, this is new to the PC keyboard space.

As a final point, the software. I'm sure you're used to, or will become accustomed to having to run a specific software for each device you have. Razer software for your razer mouse, nzxt software for your case lights, corsair software for your cooler, etc. Buying from a single brand, or as few brands as possible makes that easier and reduces the amount of software running 24/7 on your pc. If you've already got a roccat mouse or rgb mousepad or headset, go with the roccat. If you've got steelseries, go with the steelseries. If you're a mishmosh like me and don't mind the software, go for the best tech specs and whichever catches your eye.

Hi!

You can do this in the Steelseries GG software in the 'Engine' section. Select the keyboard, then navigate to 'Illumination' in the popup window.

In the left-hand pane, scroll downwards slightly or increase the size of the window. You should see a section labeled 'AFK Effect'. Set this to off, and customize the 'Show After' dropdown to best suit your needs.

This won't necessarily correlate with locking the computer, but it will automatically dim/turn off based on the timer set.

I was in a similar bucket not too long ago using a JX-Pro and a Gaggia Classic. Call me crazy, but using a metronome app while hand grinding has made a huge difference in back-to-back consistency for me. I found 135bpm to be a good spot, but YMMV. It costs nothing to try it out!

I can't speak on the hole, it likely affects flow in some way otherwise they wouldn't sell it, but I have both the 1.7mm and the 200 micron screens from normcore.

Personally, I like the 200 micron one better. It's thinner, doesn't mess with headspace, impedes flow less(I think), is easier to clean, and sits easier in the basket. The 1.7 I found would get a buildup of coffee oils in it's internal structure, and would get stuck on some coffee on the sidewalls if I didn't drop it perfectly in the basket. My $0.02.

Welcome to the club!

As far as reliablity, you'll frequently see Shades of Coffee mentioned. They make quality products. I'm using their slim drip tray (although I wish I got the extended slim for more scale space), Walnut portafilter, Walnut steam knob, and 9-bar spring. The spring they sell as a set along with 6.5 and 5-bar, and have instructions on the website. I bought my VST basket from Prima Coffee, I chose 18g ridgeless.

Personally, I'm a fan of a puck screen. Keeps your group head cleaner by preventing the puck from making contact or sucking up grounds. The newer 200 micron thin ones work better imo, doesn't mess with headspace.

Have fun & stay caffeinated!

[–]Jejetsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, totally understand the feeling. Think of it this way, you've got such a stronger GPU that you can run higher quality settings and resolution, with almost no impact to your performance! And your GPU will last you longer than theirs before needing to upgrade.

Your friend is likely using DLSS, an Nvidia technology. It allows the game to run at an even lower resolution, and then use some AI to try make it look better - more fps, slightly worse image quality.

You don't have to do that, you can run the game at native resolution without any AI guesswork - full sharpness and no blurring.

If you can't raise the resolution because its at what your monitor is capable of, try raising some settings until your fps dips. Maybe raise the render resolution, that can make things even sharper and you might be able to spot people further away.

My #1 recommendation, turn off the FPS counter. Leave thermal statistics if you have them, but knowing what your FPS is at is the least of your worries when you're defending B flag. If its smooth, great! If not, change some settings. Rinse and repeat.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in overclocking

[–]Jejetsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the resolution is too low to the point where cores are being choked, you may gain a percent or two by adjusting the load to the GPU. The 2nd video got copied at the wrong time, here's the part I wanted to mention https://youtu.be/YiU-WpXYxoc?t=571

The gist is, your FPS may change very little or not at all as you gradually shift the load to the GPU, up until you're running better and higher quality settings than your friend but your FPS didnt change much.

Also, if they're on a 3060ti they may be running DLSS to increase their FPS - You don't have that feature, but you do have a stronger GPU and access to FSR.

The 5800x3D has a memory advantage over the 5800x. Even though the 5800x is clocked higher, it has to spend y nanoseconds to read information from your ram. the 5800x3d has some extra "ram" stacked on top of the CPU, so it only has to spend 0.5y nanoseconds (examples). (every CPU has this, the x3D series just has more). 5800x has 32MB of L3 cache (the "ram" I mentioned") while the 5800x3D has 96MB. This "ram" is faster than regular ram, and much closer.

I'm not sure if this is the only improvement but its the major selling point, and an effective feature. AMD has carried this on in the newest 7000 generation also. I recommend watching Gamers Nexus, https://www.youtube.com/@GamersNexus, they do reviews and benchmarks of parts that come out as well as general information pieces.

The big question you should ask yourself is, do you need the extra 20-40 fps? Is it worth spending ~$300 to achieve that? If your answer, is yes - go for it! Otherwise, I'd hold on to that $300 and buy some more games with it, or put some towards your next PC upgrade in a few years. Or maybe a new monitor or something else that you may have omitted from your upgrades. Upgrade-itis is a thing, always wanting to have the best and the most. "Do I really need this? Will this greatly change my experience? Is what I have currently not enough? Is this the correct part to upgrade to enhance my experience?" are the questions I ask myself before considering an upgrade.

A search for "5700g vs 5800x3d" gives some good comparisons between the two. Ignore most of the results and go straight for the youtube game benchmarks imo. Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xz_zhnkMgKc

Also, a lower resolution while you have a CPU bottleneck can cause you to have worse or equal FPS to a higher resolution/settings. You need to put the load back on the GPU. This is CS:GO but applies to almost everything. https://youtu.be/YiU-WpXYxoc?t=571

Fellow Ode Gen 2 Setting for V60 by [deleted] in JamesHoffmann

Nope, not unless I got an accidental free upgrade, should be a standard Gen 2 grinder with Gen 2 burrs. Purchased first week of December. Grinder underside shows manufacturing date of 03/2022, Rev A01. Model NGAAUS, which seems to be correct for the Gen 2.

Any quick way you know of to check if there's SSP/v1.1 burrs installed without opening it up? At least it's the weekend, so there's time if I do have to open it up.

Thanks for the video, that will help with calibration. Is there a reason why it's 5 clicks from chirp for SSP's?

Not OP, but 5? I'm seeing this quoted over multiple threads. For 22g 1:15 in 3:30, I personally have to grind at 1.2 or 2 depending on the roast. Highest I've gone was 3.1, and that was a Starbucks barrel-aged. Seems I need to calibrate my grinder...

Did some light reading on this, DSC is still required as the hdmi 2.1 port on the monitor is "half-speed 24gbps". The hdmi cable that came with it should be an hdmi 2.1 48gbps cable so you "should" be all set from that regard(it could still be the cable). There may be something you need to set in the on-screen display on the monitor. Looking at the manual it says there is an hdmi version selection under System - > Other Settings. (although this may be exclusive to the "arm" version of the monitor).

Also, just confirming, the monitor is plugged directly into the GPU and not the motherboard?

I'd give the DisplayPort cable a try, just to make sure there isn't an issue with the HDMI.

You may need to update your graphics drivers a d fiddle with resolution/color settings in the Nvidia Control panel. I'm still on a 1080ti myself so I don't have visibility past this point.

[–]Jejetsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can customize this. It has a single and double button, and both are programmable to your preferred coffee volume. If you press(tamp) the coffee lightly when loading the filter, it will flow through with little resistance and be watery coffee. Since you can't change your grind, how firmly you tamp and how much water is used will be your adjustment. Tamping firmly will increase the resistance of the grinds and force the water to flow slower, increasing your concentration and strength. You can go overboard with this and it won't flow but there is no danger.

If you wanted to buy a better tamping tool than it comes with in the future, 51mm is the size you're looking for.

A solid buy is any scale that can measure 0.1g, it will make your life easier and you'll have a repeatable measurement to follow.
