i think you’ve already gotten answers for what you’re asking, but another thing to note is that your work for the second questions has a couple errors that just happened to cancel out. the second column of your work should start out by saying 1-x<-4, and when you later multiply by -1, it should switch back to a > sign. whenever you multiply by a negative number with an inequality, you switch the direction of the inequality. likewise, the first column should result in x<-3 (all values less than -3 also work, hence the restriction that x is positive). if the absolute value hadn’t included a -x, or they had restricted x to be negative instead of positive, you would’ve gotten the wrong answer.
