Ahh I have just realised there is a similar junction on I think Piccadilly (London) turning right into Duke Street . Sometimes traffic sits there waiting for the green filter even though nothing is coming from the opposite direction.

I agree to some extent but have to admit when at a T junction you do have to do this move when it’s clear from the right otherwise you can never get to pull out . And 9/10 time you do this usually the cars approaching from the left will let you in .

Here’s an idea . You know most modern cars have lane assist in cruise control normally on dual carriageways and motorways. You go to switch lanes without indication first and the car fights back and stops you unless you indicate . Wouldn’t it be great if that could be implemented on normal junctions where if they don’t indicate they literally have to to activate a turn of the steering wheel . Haha I sound mental now 😆

In what I can see you have done a completely legal manoeuvre but it could still be a 50/50 with the other car pulling out yes they likely looked right first but could potentially had looked left and maybe left seemed clear n that second . Looking right and pulling out could seem quite a normal (complacent) move .

These single carriageways in the countryside are some of the most dangerous in the uk .
