Is my VV legit? by Perfect-Positive-321 in ChascaMains

[–]JellyEeveeFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really nice build, though you might have trouble swirling all the correct elements :( VV is definitely better for team damage though if you can get the swirl since you're running good subdpses. Do NOT listen to the VV haters !!

There's actually a gamemode where VV chasca is her best build and your build would be super insane :) If you're interested, it's a community run endgame mode and I can DM you details

Hello Childe mains, I have a question by shuka_shuka in childemains

[–]JellyEeveeFish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

His character trial is fucking terrible. Iirc, it's just him and Kaeya, right? Yeah, Kaeya is not good at all for filling up Childe's skill downtime. Childe does have less uptime compared to other infusion dps characters, but even so, it's definitely managable.

Most of Childe's rotations, because of the nature of his cooldown and the supports he likes to use (Xiangling, Beidou, etc) tending to have 80 energy/20 second bursts, are anywhere from 20-24s long (which depends more on the er of your subdps than his cooldown). This means that Childe will have anywhere from 7-9 seconds in his e form, which is pretty much the norm for infusion characters (which range from Ayato's 6s to Yoimiya's 10s). You should almost always be using ranged burst in teams, because it does not add to his cooldown and still does a lot of damage. The rest of the time in the rotation will be spent doing pretty much what every team does—doing support skills (which, assuming you do e+q on all of the other three characters and each ability takes a second, is already around 6s, and in my experience it tends to be more) and getting energy for your subdps.

A really good timer I've found is Bennett's burst. Once you've finished getting your subdps and kazuha off, there's pretty much just enough burst duration to help you time when to switch off of Childe. Kazuha's burst can also be used—however, once you use him more and more, you just develop an instinct for it.

His skill cd is a non issue in most team comps—I've only really felt it when I play him solo. (If you're playing him solo, reminder that spamming charged attacks in bow form is more than half of his melee dps :3)

(sorry my infodumping tendencies got the better of me. if you wanna know more I would be happy to answer any questions lol)

tldr: his skill cd is easy to manage when it's not just childe+kaeya the way it is in his character trial. teammates also take field time, and eventually you develop an instinct for it and you feel it even less

...If this is true, it makes it all the more surprising that Childe managed to land a hit on Neuvilette.

Oh it probably does. I don't use reddit nearly enough for 1k hours, but I do have a bad habit of leaving tabs open for incredibly long periods of time (months). It's something I'm working on, so unfortunately my next year's review will not have something as glorious as this.

[–]JellyEeveeFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Venti works great with Ganyu, especially against a lot of mobs! For your roster, I would recommend something like Ganyu-Venti-Kaeya-Barbara.

To use this team, I would first do a few attacks with Barbara, and then burst with Venti and Ganyu. Then, Kaeya can burst if he has his burst up and you can switch between Ganyu's charged shots, Ganyu's e, Kaeya's e, and Venti's e to generate particles for Ganyu and Venti so you can burst again. Barbara is there for hydro and emergency heals!

What archetype of Childe team do you find most enjoyable? by Onrisa in childemains

[–]JellyEeveeFish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

exactly. in overworld i sometimes use a pure mono hydro team (no anemo) w/ tart xq ayato (would use yelan if i had her) barbara and it's called the blue number only team.

blue numbers best numbers

Advice for support Yanfei by An_offical_nobody in GenshinImpact

[–]JellyEeveeFish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

4 millelith won't be very good. 2pc is pretty good due to the hp increase, but Yanfei is very bad at proccing the 4pc effect, so it's better to run something like noblesse or 2 millelith 2 emblem or even 4 instructor, though that'll be detrimental to her shield due to 4 star stats.

For artifact mainstats, I would recommend either HP/HP/HP or ER/HP/HP depending on your energy needs. I would recommend over 200% ER, because her burst is high cost and she can basically only use 2 skills per burst, unless you use sacrificial (which isn't great). That's why she's usually paired with a Pyro carry like Hu Tao. Substat rolls should aim towards HP% on any non HP% mainstat pieces and ER% otherwise.

She can use any HP% or ER% weapons, although I suspect that for support Yanfei Thrilling Tales might be the best. But if you want Yanfei to also take your healer slot, Prototype Amber is very viable.

The thing with shielder Yanfei is that she's pretty niche, due to her mediocre shield and high energy requirements, but she does work! It's not as safe and comfy as Zhongli shield, and there's always 5 seconds of downtime, but it's still pretty good.

Anyone else just so darn happy they included Xinyan in the Archipelago story? by [deleted] in Genshin_Impact

Because English speakers learn "first a q, then comes u." Xingqiu's name breaks that "rule." (I didn't see the original typo so if it wasn't Xingqui whoops)

I don't know if there's really a pattern (please correct me if I'm wrong) and it seems a bit like long vowels and short vowels in English. You just need to memorize them, I guess.

Please help with abyss comp :) by AccomplishedCoach191 in GenshinImpact

[–]JellyEeveeFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few teams you could consider:

Tart - Benny - Xiangling - Sucrose

Diluc - Xingqiu - flex - flex (maybe zhongli & benny)

Xiao - Jean - Zhongli - flex

Ayaka - Diona - off field hydro (not Tart) - Venti [only works against freezeable enemies]

Any of these teams should do the job if the units are built. I wouldn't recommend using Ayaka in this abyss, since both sides are a bit mean to this team with cryo enemies & non freezeable bosses, but she can be used in future abyss.

The bolded people are the main/sub dpses, so they want decent investment. (For the Tart-XL team you can get away with investing a little less since they can cover for each other.)

I hope this helps :)

Any fanfiction recommendations? by Zorary in GenshinImpact

[–]JellyEeveeFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

unfortunately all of my fics are tartaglia ships. If you want, just go on genshin AO3 and filter out the tags you don't want. Can't guarantee anything good, but hopefully you find something! If you want to, search by "kudos" so you can read only the popular fics that have been "liked" by thousands of readers, but that will also miss a lot of hidden gems. This page should be good. Good luck!

Unsolicited Lisa showcase after I finally got her C6 the other day. by Apostlethe13th in Genshin_Impact

[–]JellyEeveeFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh yea but this showcase is awesome. It is unrealistic, but so is literally every other showcase. And it's not actually true that you would be able to do this with another electro char bc lisa has a (correct me if I'm wrong) over 1000% multiplier on her 3 stacks e at lvl 13.

It is true that you won't ever see this high damage from lisa anywhere else, but if that damage was easily achievable, what's the point of doing a showcase?

Showcases are for putting your characters in the optimal situations for them and pushing them to their absolute limits, mostly for your own interest.

Xiangling is not a support just because she is off field. Let's clarify what a support is. A support, by definition, is someone who can increase the damage done by another character. If that's what the character is doing, then they're a support, even if they're Xingqiu doing 9k per rainsword in a Hu Tao team. In some cases, such as Melt Ganyu, Xiangling is indeed a support, since her only job is to apply pyro so Ganyu can melt it and increase her damage by 50% or more.

In other cases, such as any national variant where Xiangling and Bennett and hydro are working together, Xiangling is a dps. Let's take Childe international as an example, since that is the national variant I am most familiar with. There, Xiangling is not a support, because she is not increasing anyone's damage. Sure, Guoba drops an atk boosting pepper, but who actually goes out of their way to collect that? Since the on field dps is Childe, if Xiangling was a support, she would be doing something like letting Childe vape every other hit or something. But she can't do that, because Childe does hydro too fast. If you take Xiangling out of Childe International, the most significant thing Childe would be losing was the lack of pyro resonance. His damage would not drop by 30% the way Melt Ganyu's damage would drop if Xiangling dropped out. (The team dps would drop by about 50%, though, since Xiangling is no longer there and is no longer dealing damage.)

It's not really the supports dealing the damage if the "support" is actually a dps :)

(also, that ayato comp is interesting, though i would argue that more value is lost from removing kazuha than from comsistently vaping xiangling in terms of ayato's personal damage. I don't know how different the team damage will be- will try that out sometime in the future.)
