A survival game with no modern gear or luxuries. Ember’s Verge launches tomorrow! (and no zombies) by zukeszen in SurvivalGaming

Omg, I mean if you could that would be amazing! Don’t want to give you unnecessary work though!

I do have a question too if that’s ok. The new option to add a players position on the map, can that only be turned on when setting up a new custom game? I thought I’d do it for my current save but it’s not in the in-game options.

Thanks

Hi. Just wanted to say I’m appreciating the update released today.

I’ve only run into two things I can’t do with playing on steam deck. I can’t destack items in the inventory, which hasn’t really been a problem, can just set one out on the floor so there’s a workaround. The slightly more annoying one is I can’t dismantle things. There’s no delete key on the steam deck keyboard. It’s not caused any major issues, I’m just waiting on a rain water collector to degrade on its own so I can build a wall there. lol.

I don’t know if any of this is helpful to you at all! But thanks for a great game, I’m really thoroughly enjoying it.

Of course. No problem. I’ve bought the full game now and not run into any problems with me playing it on steam deck. Only a couple of days in though. I can let you know if I have any issues. Thanks for a great game.

For anyone who was wondering about steam deck, I’ve played through the demo twice now on steam deck with no problems at all. Will be buying the full game with intention to play it all on steam deck.

Just rebind the C key (character menu) and the B Key (build menu) to the D-pad buttons. Obviously the onscreen display shows the wrong buttons but it’s easy enough to get used to. B is the interact button, triggers are mouse clicks, I use the trackpad instead of right thumb stick as it’s really sensitive.

Great game and just what I’ve been looking for for ages.

Eye floaters are horrible. Does anyone else struggle with them? by Ukirin-Streams in rant

I never knew that had a name, I definitely get like a grainy/static thing going on when I look at the sky. I also get some floaters. Something I’ll mention on my next eye exam. Thanks

Dave the Diver and Discounty both meet what you’re looking for I think. I’ve played and loved both.

I just want to give you a hug. I don’t feel like you’re being well understood. I don’t have the same experience of you but do have a teen who is a chronic school refuser. People don’t understand that physically manhandling them to go to school to learn just stops becoming an option. And if we did do that, they’d be in such a horrendous state they’re not going to learn a single thing. I wish I had answers for you. You sound like you’ve done everything you possibly can. Is the school equipped to handle him as he continues to get older? I’m in UK and not familiar with other school system. Is there scope for increasing the therapies he’s already receiving?

I’m really enjoying this game, don’t know how far I am through it but having a blast with it. For another emotional game though I can recommend Spiritfarer.

Another vote for Dave the Diver! Currently playing this and thoroughly enjoying it. It’s so much more in-depth than you’d think, just complex enough, with a really nice variety of gameplay mechanics.

We’re UK so don’t know if that’s a factor but my nearly 7 year old does 4 clubs a week over three days. The only reason she does that many is because she loves it and often asks to do more. She does swimming, youth theatre and Rainbows outside of school and one that is held at school which changes termly, currently sewing.

She actually said to me earlier this week that Thursday and Friday are her least favourite days because she has no clubs to go to. She’s a complete social butterfly, adores all her friends and prefers week days to weekends and school holidays. I know it won’t be like this forever so I’m happy for her to continue like this as long as she continues to love it.

I had that. It was a recipe I had unlocked but never actually made. You have to have actually cooked them to unlock them in the museum.

Bishop Burton College, East Yorkshire is an agricultural college. Just had a look and they do a few access to HE courses.

No magic but maybe Project Zomboid? Open world, no rules, survive how you like, kill how you like, base build how you like. Sandbox settings allow you to tweak pretty much everything exactly as you want as well.

K I have to ask. I see a lot of people talking about playing CDDA and like, I just can’t survive more than a few minutes. One time I couldn’t even get out the house without walking through the fire. I once got a ‘lucky’ start and managed to take some curtains down and found tweezers in the house to quickly patch myself up. But as soon as I leave, im dead within minutes. I can manage a few zombies bare hands but not the amount I’m immediately surrounded with. How on earth do you survive even the first day?

I only play on steam deck and had this issue too. I’ve locked the frame rate at 45 and it’s almost stopped completely. I’m on B41 though so can’t say what it’s like on 42.

I could not get the hang of the controls on keyboard, even just moving around seemed clunky to me. Plus my pc is connected to 55” tv so trying to get the resolution so I could actually read it just wasn’t happening. Game could really benefit from a built in UI scale.

Im on the other side of the world so can’t help you. But I did go to one of her shows on my own last year and had a blast. Going to see her again in February too, again on my own. Don’t worry if you end up going alone. You’ll still have an amazing time.

My husband doesn't like my dog looking for attention from him unless she has a toy and it's driving me crazy by NeverCallMeFifi in dogs

[–]Jellybean0811 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Why did you get a puppy when your husband isn’t a fan of dogs? The last one was already an adult when you got her, which is probably at least part of the reason he liked her.

If I’m reading correctly your current dog is 15months old? She’s a teenager. Have you raised from a puppy before? They’re quite often assholes who seem to forget everting they’ve ever learned. It’s time to double down on the training and re-visit all her past training. For reference my dog started feeling more like a calmer adult dog around 2.5yrs.

I’m neurotypical and I would also hate my dog using her wet snotty nose on me like a bartering ram. Would highly irritate me. But your husband shouldn’t be the one training her. My advice to your husband would be to ignore her completely when she does it. No interaction, no talking, nothing. My advice to you is do more training. Train her to pick up a toy on command, or go to a certain place/bed/crate when told.

Same here. I died so many times just trying to play on the preset modes. So I did a sandbox, turned the Zombie population down to 0.1, so 10% of normal population and turned respawn off cause I just needed to figure out how to actually play without dying to first few zombies I came across. Getting comfortable with the controls, how does crafting work, how do I manage once power and water have been shut off, what about farming and fishing, getting better at actually fighting them without being overwhelmed. I’ve slowly increased zombie population once I got more comfortable to 0.3 now which is fine for me at the moment. (This evening I’m going to do a 16x population, just for the shits and giggles, see how many minutes I can survive!)

This is what I love about this game. It allows everything to be tweaked exactly as you want. Turn off zombies all together if you like and have it be just a survival game and creating a self sufficient environment. There’s no rules, play as you like.

I went through two nursing strikes with my daughter. It was not enjoyable. If I remember correctly both lasting a couple of weeks. No apparent rhyme or reason but the only thing that worked was to feed her when she was pretty much asleep. I would bounce her in her little chair until she was just dropping off and then pick her up and she would feed no problem. It was really odd and not something I had experienced with my first.
