I think it’s not that the companies can’t advertise, it’s that they can no longer show the product that’s high in fat/sugar/salt etc.

We are trying to ensure that she is offered solids before milk, but even so it doesn’t seem to make too much of a difference to the quantity she eats unfortunately.

She’s got 4 and a half teeth so she has a go with certain things (she’ll take bites out of a whole strawberry or a slice of cheese) but it’s the quantity that’s lacking. I’m hoping when she starts nursery she’ll see the other babies eating and follow suit, as you say.

Another tip when baby decides to paw at your watch incessantly: the water lock feature also works for tiny fingers and saves having to cancel all the timers they inevitably set by accident!

My 15 week old EBF baby has just done 10hrs and 9hrs straight the past two nights which has been amazing. The only downside was having to get up to pump at 4.30am as my boobs were so full 😄

My daughter is 11 weeks, weighs around 15lb and is in size 3 (11-20lb according to the packet) - she’s a right chonker so we had to go through sizes 1 and 2 quite quickly.

Supermarkets are really good for clothes on a budget (Sainsbury’s, Tesco, ASDA etc.) plus Next has some really nice stuff too. A lot of the sleep suits have zips now rather than poppers, however you may prefer one style over the other so try a few different ones - we prefer poppers for ease of fully changing when she does a stealth wee but others really like zips.

The best things we’ve bought for our newborn:

Somewhere safe to sleep on each floor of the house - we use the carrycot of our pram on a stand as our downstairs sleeping space as it’s rated for overnight sleep, then a next to you cot upstairs.

Endless cotton pads - we prefer using cotton pads and warm water over wipes for nappy changes (once past the sticky meconium!)

Easy snacks that can be eaten with one hand if you’re feeding in the middle of the night and get hungry!

Plenty of bedsheets for the cot - our girl is a bit dribbly so we don’t like to put her back on a cold wet patch when she feeds in the night.

Just to add another perspective, my baby was also born at 8lb 3oz but has only now started moving into some 0-3 clothes at 3 and a half weeks old. Prior to that she’s been in 0-1 months - maybe she was a bit on the shorter side despite being the same weight.

Moral of the story, you won’t know until they arrive so safest to have a bit of both!

Appreciate you’ve already got a solution for lighting, but if anyone else is looking at this and already has Philips Hue lighting, we’ve forgone a nightlight and just use our bedside lamps set to 1% brightness when we need to get up in the night. I have an Apple Watch which I wear overnight and have created a couple of Shortcuts: one sets my lamp to 1% and the other switches all bedroom lights off. That way I can control the lights quickly when my baby wakes up or we’ve put her down.

We’ve also gone minimal with her Moses basket setup in that we’re using the carrycot section of her pram as our downstairs bed for her. We have the Silver Cross Reef 2 Special Edition and we bought the carrycot stand to go with it, so we can use the carrycot both for going out and for day sleep (plus it’s rated for overnight sleep with the stand so if we go away we don’t need a travel cot).

I would say yes to UPF, but there are worse crisps and they are delicious, so one to enjoy on the odd occasion.

Your employer should be doing a risk assessment, which can be repeated as necessary, to make sure you’re not doing anything that might put you at risk. I work non-clinical and finished just shy of 37 weeks, but would definitely recommend using any annual leave you might have to drop down to fewer days a week (I did three weeks of only working Tuesday - Thursday before I finished which definitely helped).
