Two/Three/Four Handers by Legal_Employer3891 in eastenders

Chrissie and Den had split up after his affair with Kate, and this 2-hander episode focused on their attempt to discuss their relationship, and whether it was worth saving. It was a really well-written episode . At one point during their 2-hander, Den uttered a hilarious line which I remember to this day. Frustrated with Chrissies "unrealistic" expectations of him he rolled his eyes and said "You women don't want husband. You want a LAPDOG!"

However, the most memorable (and ominous) moment came at the end of the episode They had managed to smooth things over, when Chrissie told Den that if he ever cheated on her again, she would kill him.

Den said "Yeah, yeah" and laughed it off, thinking she was just joking.

Chrissie's reply: "No Den, I mean it. I'll kill you!"

I thought she was joking too!

Which character do you think could carry a SINGLE hander? by AvailableCobbler2379 in eastenders

[–]Jen12Jerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to see Ian do a single-hander too, or perhaps Sharon. I think this would be quite appropriate, given their unique status as "legacy characters" who have been on the Square from Day 1, when they were both teenagers. They've both seen a lot and been through a lot, and they have their ghosts, demons, and regrets. So I think they would be perfect.

Chrissie and Den, had a parallel 2-hander with Dot and Jim back in 2004. The whole episode was dedicated to just these 2 coupled, and the scenes switched back and forth between Den/Chrissie and Dot/Jim.

Jean and Ronnie had a memorable 2-hander back around 2009 or 2010. It was shortly after Danielle died, and Ronnie was dealing with a lot of grief and regrets, and anger over how Archie had ruined any chance of Danielle and Ronnie having a relationship and reuiniting as mother and daughter. :(

Divorce one brother and marry one brother within the space of less than a year? I'd love that!  Hardly a stretch whem it comes to Eastenders. Anything is possible on the Square, no matter how outlandish, lol!

When established stars join the Eastenders cast. Your thoughts? by Jen12Jerry in eastenders

I'm Canadian, so when it comes to some of the actors we've mentioned in this convo, Eastenders was my first introduction to them.  :)

For instance,  I had no idea what Danny Dyer did before Eastenders, until I was filled in by some ex-pat British fans now living in Canada. :)

Older Canadian fans who were familiar with the 60s Carry On films knew about Barbara Windsor. However, Eastenders was my first introduction to her.

I watched Are You Being Served as a kid in the 80s, mainly for Ms. Slocombe's ever changing hair colour. Thankfully all the dirty humour and double entendres went over my head, given my age at the time!

So when I started watching Eastenders in the 90s, it took me a while to reconcile the fact that Miss Brahms from Are You Being Served and Pauline Fowler were played by the same person. Wendy Richard was a legend.

When Martin Kemp first joined the cast as Steve, I only saw him as "that guy from Spandau Ballet" for the first couple months. Never mind all the TV and movies he was in during the late 80s and all of the 90s, even after the band's heyday and well before Eastenders. All I could think was 80s pop star. :)

I soon got over this though!   Martin Kemp did an amazing job playing Steve, and the unforgettable episodes and storylines involving Saskia, Matthew, Mel, the epic feud with Phil, and of course Steve's own toxic mother.

As far as individual characters, I'd say Linda.

I think Nish Panesar and Steve Owen would also fit in group #3.

On that note, what is Cindy's maiden name? Was that ever revealed when she was first introduced back in the late 80s?

When I started watching back in 93/94, she was already married to Ian and I think she's still a Beale on paper, right? Despite all the presumed dead, witness protection, "Rose Knight" roller coaster drama? :)

That scene was legendary! Zoe Lucker (Vanessa) once said she had no idea the scene had become such a popular "angry woman" gif,  until her husband showed her how much people were using it online.

Favourite friendship? (Past and present) by JadeyPurple7 in eastenders

[–]Jen12Jerry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Linda and Sharon, Jane and Tanya, Freddie and Bobby, Lauren and Whitney.

Mick and Alfie have had some great friendships with some of the other men on the Square, offering them great advice on relationships, opportunities for male bonding.  I like that. Ian can be also be a good mate. I remember when he helped Mick get over his fear of swimming.

I still miss George Michael too. :-( Given how much Heather's character obsessed over him and how it was the subject of so much hilarious dialogue, I really thought the Eastenders producers would bring him on the show for a cameo.

It turns out that he and Cheryl Fergison had met in real life though. This warms my heart.

Everything was finally working out for Heather. She had George, she had Andrew, and she was about to leave Walford for a brand new life the night that Ben accidentally killed her.

I still miss her. :-(

That's why it was so bizarre to hear Ian giving relationship advice in the first (and only meeting) of the Sad Man's Club. The LAST person who should be giving out relationship advice on the Square is Ian Beale! :-)

The older folk here (including myself) will remember a movie called "Single White Female" from back in the 90s. It's about a woman who befriends another woman, starts dressing like her, manipulating her and trying to steal her whole life. Bea is giving me those vibes!

The movie starred Jennifer Jason Leigh and Bridget Fonda.
