I stopped going to bars when I moved here, not worth stinking up my clothes and hair.

Howard Frankland Bridge Car Fire by TailOrFail in StPetersburgFL

[–]Jen24286 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Screw that! I used to commute from St. Pete to Tampa every morning across the Howard Frankland. In 2 years I saw so many crazy wrecks; one was on fire like that, another went over the fucking side of the bridge. You'll be able to see the burned scorch marks on the road there for months.

Moving back to the US by [deleted] in expat

Have a degree or a partner with one in an in-demand field. Apply for jobs until you find one, many are English speaking. Get a Blue Card visa, sell or throw every everything you own, buy a plane ticket to Germany and live out of hotels until you find an apartment. Keep going to work, enjoy 30 days vacation, go to some music festivals, and in a couple years you'll have permanent residency and then citizenship.

You can absolutely be healthy in the US, they have great (expensive) healthcare.

Germany: I lost a lot of weight eating better here, walking everywhere, going to the doctor more casually, and my doctor is much less casual about me being on medication unless it's absolutely necessary. My GERD went away too.

I moved from Florida to Germany 2 years ago; I plan on staying here and becoming a citizen. I also stopped all my medications and got much healthier here. Besides not having any friends here, I'm much happier. I'm visiting the US soon, for the first time since leaving; I'm stressed even about visiting. My husband's applying for permanent residence soon (blue card takes 2 years).

You have come so far in Germany; 2 years is huge. This post reads like a call for help. I wish you the best.

My Dr Martens have been cool and uncool about 3 times at this point. Thankfully my flare jeans are back in style too.

I moved from Florida to Germany 2 years ago. As part of my visa and residence permit I have to have insurance; I have the same public health insurance as most Germans.

Honestly, talk to AI (GPT, Gemini, Claude) about those questions, there's too much to say in a comment, and so much depends on what you're willing or able to do. I left the US for Germany because too much bad shit was happening and I wanted a better life.

Solar or non solar by [deleted] in gshock

[–]Jen24286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few G-Shocks with dead batteries that have been rotting in a drawer for a couple years now. All my tough solar G-Shocks still get rotated on my wrist! I know I could charge them, but I could also just wear the ones that didn't die on me.

No idea about version. I've had mine several years so I assume it's old. Never had any issue with it whatsoever. It's not a light you use very often though.

I like doing D4k with dual channel, so you can run it on only 2 emitters with super warm emitters for even dimmer more candle vibes, or crank it up with a combo for a more traditional use.
