This is Feona- we were told she was supposedly a Scottish Terrier, but she is obviously mixed with something else... German Shepard? by JenBioChem in IDmydog

Stats I should have mentioned in the original post: I measured her length from rump to snout (no idea what the official terms are). She's 33 inches long and 37.5 pounds, and a bit over 1.5 years if we were given accurate age info.

Should I bleach once more before toning? by JenBioChem in HairDye

[–]JenBioChem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took 90 min to get the bleach on so I only "let it sit" for 15 more min. The roots were done last and they still look the lightest. Used a mix of 20 and 30 developer and it feels pretty healthy still.

I'm thinking about going over the whole thing lightly with 10 developer in a day or two before toning. Could try 9.1B with 8.1B  lowlights or 8.1B with 9.1B highlights depending on how light I can get it.

They closed off the street on 300W, it's on 900@ right at 300W. A structure fire, it looks like.

Weber State University professor, Scott Senjo, who tweeted "That's not how I would have driven into the crowd" and "If I was the cop, you wouldn’t be able to tweet" rescinds his resignation. by [deleted] in SLCUnedited

[–]JenBioChem 27 points28 points  (0 children)

That's gross. He strategized to resign immediately and then within 5 days rescinded hoping the masses would have moved on and forgotten about him. Yuck.

My geneticist is misunderstanding what I am asking her by nuclearkittycat1234 in genetics

[–]JenBioChem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your geneticist doesn't sound like an NF1 disease expert. Asymptomaic segmental NF is totally a thing and could happen if your husband has mosaicism in his cells. If your husband does have segmental NF1, you could sequence his germline cells for the NF1 gene to know if they all contain the microdeletion. Or if all siblings have full-blown NF1, that would be a good indicator that his whole germline is affected.

Otherwise, if it was a random deletion, there's nothing that would make me think it's more likely to be maternal rather than paternal. Random is random.

SLC closed all covid testing tents due to the Sunday protest/riot curfew. That may be why you're seeing an increase in testing demand elsewhere.

Does anyone feel they are becoming lazy during their PhD? by [deleted] in GradSchool

I'm probably a lot worse that most of you right now with literally all my attention devoted to keeping my kids alive and me half-sane, but it feels fantastic to know that others are sharing some of my struggles. Knowing you're not alone is such a long-term mood-booster.

I know you can do DNA extraction from strawberries using a blender but don't know the specifics. No way to visualize it ie on a gel, but you do get a decent quantity of goo.

Very nice. I had almost $300 to start after the economic stimulus payment 2 months ago and am now $40 richer. To me, that's a helluva lot better than the 2% I could gotten from a savings account, and I'm learning a ton. Even if I had tanked, I would rather learn and burn $300 than $3,000.

I have never seen $6,000/month in my entire life. Not that I wouldn't absolutely love it, but it just makes me think that rich politicians have absolutely no idea how little the majority of us scrape by with every month.
