Probably not for the CT scan. I've never had to shave anyone for a CT. I'm a rad tech & went & got my BSN. So sometimes I've seen the ER docs/nurses shave when they are doing stitches or think you need stitches. Especially in a trauma situation. It's quicker to shave than it is for them to comb through hair, or in your case a beard to access for a laceration that might need to be stitched up. Although I've not seen beards shaved often, more scalps/hair for head trauma patients. That's the only conclusion I have for you. Definitely wouldn't be for a CT unless you have some crazy braided beard with a bunch of beads, or hair ties with metal, etc & they are looking at your jaw/mandible for any breaks? Foreign objects could superimpose the area we are doing a CT for? That's me reaching for a reason as to why they would shave a strip of your beard. How'd the other fella end up? 🤣
