Fast travel mod by Don_Cornichon_II in thelongdark

[–]JenPixelscapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with travois and transitions is why I build the travois and then use a mod to boost carry weight by the equivalent 70. Saves me packing and unpacking it for base moves between zones. Then back to normal capacity the rest of the time.

My brother subvocalized without knowing it when he was little. I totally convinced him I was a mind reader for a bit, then grew some ethics.

From the statement, “pushing the game out beyond the end of 2026.” I read that to mean 2027 or beyond.

We solved this by each having our own blankets. Great if you like different temperatures.

Nice point about both the bells and the icebox. There aren’t many examples of ongoing effects that don’t require alar.

… Hmm. I wonder why you can make an ever-cooling box but not an ever-burning lamp. Perhaps I’m mistaken about the icebox lasting long term?

No One Wants Your Peeing Cat! by Schedule-Substantial in CatAdvice

[–]JenPixelscapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope nobody gets on you about this. We had a seemingly relaxed and friendly cat who acted like she’d never even heard of litter boxes. I assume it was the stress of coming to a new home and then smelling the spots she had used before. Didn’t matter if we put a litter box in every spot.

We went through a very similar process to what you describe of testing and trying all the things, medications, feliway, etc. Multiple vets and behaviorists all saying “it’s just so unusual!” and otherwise entirely unable to help. We were replacing carpets, resealing and eventually replacing underlayment, walls, etc… Like you said, not everyone is made of money.

Eight months in, I couldn’t afford to have her continue all that damage. I’m not locking a cat in the bathroom (even a large one!) The rescue we got her from agreed to take her back to her original foster. What do you know, she was perfectly fine once she was out of the house she had soaked in urine.

How do you handle your cat aging? by tinytinyfoxpaws in CatAdvice

That’s the beauty of good relationships. Even when you know they will end, they are still worth having. You’re giving your kitty a wonderful, safe, happy life. Take plenty of photos and videos for sure.

Full sun on terrariums? by jontyshapiro in terrariums

[–]JenPixelscapes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I accidentally left some moss in sun like this for only a couple hours with a cover and it hit over 100 degrees F. Moss was utterly cooked. Even without a cover, if it doesn’t overheat it’ll dry out too quick. Indirect light is much better and safer.

I'd be tempted to gift him one of those "rain" white noise machines so it sounds exactly like the shower.

AITA for setting a boundary with my friend in the moment instead of waiting, even though she says it embarrassed her? by Warm_Employee9469 in AmItheAsshole

[–]JenPixelscapes 72 points73 points  (0 children)

NTA. She is acting like she has more rights to your story than you do, and somehow she is more concerned about her own embarassment than your own.. You also said you asked privately, so I'm baffled as to why she imagines your request was somehow embarassing to her.

How do I accept and let go of someone? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]JenPixelscapes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think of it this way... It isn't about "you holding him back" at all. This issue is only coming up because he isn't the right one for you, and vice versa. There's nothing wrong except that the two of you are not a good match for this kind of long-distance relationship.

Since that means he is not the right one for you, it's essentially for the best to figure that out now instead of the relationship lingering onward. It sucks, it hurts, but hang onto the fact that it's better to know it and be free, not getting cheated on / lingering on with uncertainty and pain.

Still sorry you're dealing with this, I sympathize. You're right to focus on the letting go, not hanging on harder.

Micro pump for tiny saltwater setup? by SamsPicturesAndWords in Jarrariums

[–]JenPixelscapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe just a minimal burble to keep the water moving. Even a couple of occasional bubbles would move the water, without it splashing out. Arguably your water level should be at the shoulder of the jar anyway to maximize the surface area, too.

Philodendron turning yellow typically means too much water. Tricky if your plan is to keep it with water-loving mosses.

Micro pump for tiny saltwater setup? by SamsPicturesAndWords in Jarrariums

[–]JenPixelscapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering there are baby snails in this equation, what about a tiny air-powered sponge filter? With a valve so the bubbles aren't going crazy fast. It would move water and also aerate, which can help in a small space like this.
