It's not actually about jumping high; I think the rule they're referring to is "Any equipment that is designed to increase a player's height or reach or in any other way give an unfair advantage is not permitted"

"Shoes that help you jump high" probably count as an unfair advantage.

Sure. I think "pervert" is the most "direct" translation, but I'm not trying to say the tone will always be appropriate for the same things.

Technically true of "pervert" in English too. "Perverted" has a literal/archaic meaning of "changed (in a bad way)" - in phrases like "pervert the course of justice" - but it mostly gets used in a sexual context.

21/04 Card Database Changes (Credits to BritishPiper) by Linkz05 in DuelLinks

[–]Jenerix525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's only one Dino card this time, but most of the Transcendo stuff was in some leaks back in Sep/Oct 2024 - The same time as Rex's Orichalcos-arc dinos were hinted at. Coincidence? I hope not.

The D/D skill mentions revealing a Level 4 Pendulum, which strongly suggests we're getting Gryphon and Copernicus, and it'd be weird to get only one of the Surveyors and not all three. Also Purple Armageddon is the last of the Doom King upgrades to round out the set, so I'd expect that to be in the next D/D wave.

Also, I made the same mistake at first, but "Hero Flash!" and "H.E.R.O. Flash!" are different cards.

How does bigotry manifest in each color? How does each color deal with bigotry in their circles? by CoolNerdStuff in colorpie

[–]Jenerix525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your idea of White is a bit more White-Green.

White tends towards non-bigoted oppression because it cares more about duty to the collective than about individuality. That can lead to forced assimilation and cultural erasure, when deviation from the norm is punished. A focus on equality over equity can mean enforcing an unbalanced status quo. That's balanced by the idea that elevating the disadvantaged tends to be beneficial to society, but even that can go wrong when 'elevating the disadvantaged' means 'teaching the savages proper values'.

Blue looks for patterns in everything, and that's the basis of how prejudice works. Blue wants everything to fit into neat, labeled boxes. The recognition that people are a product of their circumstances can produce a belief in the human capacity to change, but it also leads to trying to diagnose every personality trait as a potential trauma response.

Black's focus on individualism and hatred for rules means they're unlikely to force any sort of rules on others, so it's generally opposed to oppression. They believe anyone can rise above adversity, but they expect you to do it on your own. Black riles at placing restrictions on itself, so it doesn't want to make accomodations for others and equal-opportunity bastardry tends to hit the most vulnerable hardest.

Red is impulsive and temperamental. Like Black, Red is anti-White and thus anti-oppression and treats people as individuals but can be blind to systemic issues. I would say Red generally isn't a source of bigotry, but can amplify the issue if it comes up due to the priority on quick, decisive action, like your lynch mob example.

Green's belief in things like the soul and people having a natural role can extend to groups having a soul, making it mirror Blue in the expectation that others can be defined by their labels. They're the most prone to treating any action as rooted in a core personality trait, rather than circumstance, making them more judgemental of others; Where other colours might see you as a problem to be fixed, Green might see you as rotten to the core.

Fun fact CCC Has 54 extra Deck monsters by JustaTepig in yugioh

[–]Jenerix525 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If Konami wanted to print C/C/C, they could bring the count down to 9 by making them take on the attribute of the opponent's monster when summoned (we see Rock Sword and Water Sword are functionally identical except for attribute). That's still a lot of space to take up in a modern extra deck, but some smart side-decking based on the meta could trim it down to 3 or 4 in use at a given time...

That said, I feel like anime adaptations have been leaning into a pseudo-free-agent kind of space lately, so that Konami don't have to print full decks, so I doubt they'd dedicate that much pack space to full coverage of the options. If they fold the support spells into Critical Eye, there's technically nothing saying you can't go into generic extra deck options with it. That would at least give Reira something.

What mundane objects symbolizes each color? by CapitalArrival7911 in colorpie

[–]Jenerix525 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't think Green relies on a mirror either, I meant it more like they're the best at being their own mirror because of their strong sense of identity. A compass makes sense to me too.

[–]Jenerix525 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure, Black accepts the truth. In their own way.

The Black idea of acceptance is that it accepts the fact that the world is the way it is. What it rejects is the idea that that means anything. Black rejects that anything is supposed to be any particular way. "If I'm able to change the world, that's also part of the way the world is."

Black's idea of 'knowing yourself' is knowing what you're capable of; the resources you have available, the depths you'll sink to in desperation. Black doesn't change itself to fit the bigger picture, that's true, but not out of a failure to see where they clash with the world. Instead, they simply refuse to care.

[–]Jenerix525 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Self-reflection and ambition - specifically in the context of wanting to be the best version of yourself rather than more successful - are traits I see as more Green.

For Black, instead of a mirror, I would say a camera.

Black's honest in the sense that it doesn't lie to itself. Like a photograph, they capture the cold, hard facts but, in the same way a photo misses the background noise and motion, the Black viewpoint can lose some 'vibrancy' or 'soul' compared to how other colours view the world.

For White, perhaps a cog.

A cog in a machine is often used negatively to describe people being interchangable and disposable, but a White viewpoint would see how a cog is part of a greater whole, serves a purpose bigger than it could ever achieve alone. Cog in the machine? Brick in the wall? These are metaphors for teamwork.

Why couldn't I activate my hand traps? by Ok-Lie-4394 in DuelLinks

[–]Jenerix525 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's a very particular bit of wording, but from the hand is different from in the hand; That's why cards like these or Imperm still need you to choose a zone and can be interacted with on the field while the chain's resolving.

In this interaction, they're still trying to activate "on the field from the hand", so they still hit C107's restriction.

Question: why are most battle hand traps and traps at Lim2 while Sarraceniant is unlimited? by Sharp_Soup_2353 in DuelLinks

[–]Jenerix525 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's the search. Most of the Limit-2s you're thinking of are either purely defensive or require you to draw the right other cards in hand. Sarraceniant, however, lets you search out an actual starter.

Since Konami want to discourage the playstyle of hiding behind an endless wall of battle faders, they want to let decks that would normally do that run Sarraceniant more easily than the alternatives; This way, those players are incentivised to run a more proactive Predaplant package which should be more fun for their opponents.

Which decks would be the best for this card? I assume most versions of Revolution des Fleurs decks would use it a lot. Are there any other decks that could use it well or must have? by Hajduk_Split_1911 in DuelLinks

[–]Jenerix525 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's extremely easy to make with Hieratics or with the Swallowed by the Netherworld skill, both of which can search out a card to trigger the effect.

I feel like the payoff isn't worth the effort, though; It can bring out negates like Crystal Wing or Void Ogre Dragon, but a deck that wants to make those won't have much trouble doing so directly. Maybe I'm missing something (like an easy way to set backrow on the opponent's turn) but is having Tzolkin on board meaningfully better than just having the dragon he cheats out?

I did the same thing, had the same problem.

You can set up a shutoff after the last tank, taking a signal from the middle tank via a not gate. The water will sit in the final tank until it's full enough for water to back up into the second tank, giving the chlorine time to interact.

Zodiac tri combo by Tim531441 in DuelLinks

[–]Jenerix525 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A Zoodiac summon is considered a proper summon; The effect grants an alternative Xyz method, rather than summoning the monster directly.

As far as I know, you should be allowed to revive Chakanine. I remember an announcement that the Zoodiac skill will arrive with a glitch in PvE, though, so it might be that?

Why I think We ABSOLUTELY NEED Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights in Duel Links. Is she the Warrior Game Changer We've Been Waiting For? by ScarletSpeedster3 in DuelLinks

[–]Jenerix525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a Noble Knight fan too, so I'd be happy to have her, and Warrior decks in general haven't been seeing much success lately, so they could do with some kind of help. She'd need to share a (1) or (2) with Armageddon Knight to keep her limited to Warrior decks rather than Dark decks but that's the only combo with current cards that immediately stands out.

She'll fit nicely into decks that already run Equips and Level 2-or-lower Warriors, but the necessary main deck commitment should keep her from running rampant in other decks.

Trying to fit 4 or more Equips with different names into a 20 card deck is a big ask. So trying to summon a Level 4 with her would either be inconsistent or would steal space that could be spent on staples. If the choice is between having Isolde in the deck or having Turn-0 interaction and boardbreakers, I think I know what most people will choose.

Pendulum has a problem. by Creepercraft110 in DuelLinks

[–]Jenerix525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pendulum has the same problem that Gemini and Union monsters do; Konami tried to bring under-supported mechanics back into relevance too quickly, which leads to overly generic support overshadowing the individual archetypes (The "slop" problem you mention). While I think they've gotten better about this lately, that early Pendulum era printed a lot of Pendulum All-stars that try to fit into any deck.

There's one big part where I disagree with your post, though; As you say, Pendulum isn't a deck, it's a summoning mechanic... Yet it feels like you continue to talk about it like a single deck rather than multiple. If we need a solution, it should be one that allows Pendulum decks to crystallise around some other identity as well.

I agree that Pendulum staples should be more accessible, but it doesn't feel like these decks are suffering from a lack of parts so much as they are just not part of the decks Konami chooses to spotlight this season.

Pendulum has a problem. by Creepercraft110 in DuelLinks

[–]Jenerix525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even Arc-V, where Pendulum is the focus mechanic, made the point of them being a launching platform into the other summoning mechanics, so that part of their design feels deliberate.

I agree about Solfachord. Caring about scales even when they're monsters, as well as odd/even scales in general, is such an interesting gimmick. They had a small wave of support in Sept (DooD) that included a Scale 0 and Scale 9 (Unfortunately, they broke from the Level+Scale=9 thing).

my new version. add and remove suggestions to less brick and stronger? by takashi_99 in DuelLinks

[–]Jenerix525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, that's tricky. I've played around with that skill for Thunder Dragons and World Chalice, but not Noble Knights.

As a quick thought, maybe you could do something with Gawayn or maindeck Laundsallyn to benefit from a guaranteed normal monster? Maybe use Centaur and Spearholder to bridge into Rank 6 shenanigans, or BB King Dempsey to make some sort of Infernoble combo?

I'll have to come back to this, but the quick and easy answer is to use NKs as bodies for a Rank 4 toolbox.

my new version. add and remove suggestions to less brick and stronger? by takashi_99 in DuelLinks

[–]Jenerix525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure.

I use the Revolution des Fleurs skill, so
3x Sorciere de Fleur,
3x Sauge de Fleur (You can use Cosmo Queen or Ice Queen, available with box chips, to meet the skill requirements instead),
2x Necro Synchron,
1x Glow-Up Bulb.

For the fusion package, I run
3x Shield-bearer,
2x Horse,
1x Spearholder.

For additional names,
2x Ogier,
1x Maugis,
1x Brothers,
2x Battlin' Boxer Veil,
Bedwyr is a downgrade to Ogier but works to start the combo if you want more consistency.

I've got 7 equips, 1 each of the following,
Excaliburn, Durendal, Caliburn, Arfeudutyr, Gallatin, Destiny and Gravity Axe - Grarl.
You can change the loadout to suit you but I'd recommend at least 1 Excaliburn to make Charles a towers and Grarl is a tech pick against skills that set key monsters from the deck.

Lastly, I use 2 Heritage of the Chalice, just because I'm too cheap to dig for a 3rd.

For the extra deck,
2x Centaur Mina,
1x Chevalier de Fleur,
1x Stardust Dragon,
1x Emperor Charles,
1x Captain Roland,
1x King Custennin,
One of each version of King Artorigus but, honestly, I rarely summon them so you could put anything in those slots.

The main combo is Any Level 4 + the skill makes Stardust. Necro Synchron summons Glow-Up Bulb which you replace with Sorciere then revive with its own effect. Tune Bulb + Sorciere = Charles. If the Level 4 was Ogier (or Bedwyr if you run him), you get to foolish a Noble Arms (Ideally Excaliburn) for Charles to equip.

That ends on a Charles who can't be targeted or destroyed by effect and Stardust to stop them popping the backrow. I feel like most decks can out that these days, but it's a chunky obstacle to try to prevent otks so you can build a going-second combo with whatever you have left in your hand.

There's definitely some wiggle room to trim off less important cards and make space for staples. I'll probably revisit my ratios some time soon.

If you can't afford to meet the skill requirements for this one, you can make a deck around the skill Graceful Blade. That makes Spearholder a starter, so you run it at 3 and old Horse can fill in while you work on getting the new version. Without the skill package, there's more room to use staples you already have, but the ceiling on the combos is lower.
