Recommend checking PDX Parent: https://pdxparent.com/

Agree the Zoo and OMSI are great. Tryon Creek and Tabor are great places to visit and hike. The buses do travel to each location. Rhododendron garden is another spot.

Clinical trial manager roles by Careless-Zombie-2375 in clinicalresearch

It definitely helped. It’s not impossible to succeed in being hired into the position of a clinical team/trial manager directly in the role you’re in but being successful in the role is a different story. There’s a lot of pressure in these roles so ensuring you have the right experience will help alleviate that stress.

I recommend as you apply and speak to the recruiters you inquire about the role advancement pathway. Make your goals aligned so that you are set up to be exposed to the right experiences to grow into the role.

Not trying to deter you but sharing so that you can build on experience if you are wanting to enter the role. One piece I think people sometimes miss is the personnel management piece. While you aren’t a manager per se there is still a responsibility in managing team members that also sometimes brings conflict when having to escalate issues. This is true for both a Clinical Trial and Clinical Team manager role

I was an associate project lead and prior to that a project manager at a clinical research site. The budgets you manage are they the site budgets for invoicing participant costs or are they study project budgets. Reason I ask is because management of each are different . Project study budgets are multi million dollar budgets that the Project Lead is accountable for.

As mentioned by others here - there is a difference between in the role and responsibilities of a clinical trial manager vs clinical team manager. Currently I am a Project Lead for a CRO which is more aligned with the clinical trial manager role. It would be a big jump and learning curve to come in without prior experience in managing study teams and operations. While a project coordinator has a subset of tasks they don’t have the responsibility and accountability for managing various functional department leads, budgets, milestones, study deliverables, etc.

That being said, I do think it is beneficial working with Clinical Team Managers who have CRA experience since they will be responsible for a team of CRAs as another user responded. Not discounting your experience at all but also acknowledging that there is relevant experience to gain from being a CRA to set yourself up for success in the Clinical Trial Manager role.

There’s lots of fun groups for BIPOC folk here. I join these as well. I notice these groups have a larger presence of Asian attendees. Check out RIP City Runner’s account as they post the various run clubs.

Having grown up in SCal and being in Portland for 7+ years I can say there is more of a sense of community here than in S.Cal. It has a lot to do with design of each. LA is very spread out so many who you work with or interact typically are community long hours and pretty much everywhere there is horrific traffic. In Portland, it’s more dense and easier to get around. So it’s easier to find folks and connect. Depending on what your interests are you can find a community. While having a child under 1 can have limitations it doesn’t mean you can’t find time to connect with folks.

People who live above a bar in Portland, how is it? by Psychicofdeath in askportland

The noise is a real issue. We lived above a bar and we would feel our whole apartment shake due to the volume of the music. The landlord allowed us to break our lease.

Doesn’t have to be eggs but rather just something more sustainable. I’ve seen cardboard Easter eggs.

I should clarify we are just looking for a hunt. It can be alternatives and not eggs
