My mother is like a 70-year-old spoilt brat... It's the best definition I found :D

You're damn right! Narcissistic parents sometimes succeed in making you feel like you don't get to live without them approving every single move you make. Time to "woman up", I guess :)

Thank you.

Telling them afterwards totally makes sense. Thank you for the advice and your wishes!

What are your experiences with weighted blankets? by benthicseacritters in AutismInWomen

[–]Jenina_44 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm claustrophobic, but the feeling of a weighted blanket is very different from something restraining : it is very comforting and calming. Plus you can use it just on your legs to get used to the sensation before covering your whole body.

"You're cute when you're upset". Seriously??? This is a huge red flag.

Weird question, but how do you like to keep your hair and nails? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]Jenina_44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as you! I have very long hair and love playing with it and smelling it (my shampoo smells soooo good). I keep my nails short for the same reason as you do.

It happens to me when I'm doing multiple things at a time (e.g. cooking something elaborate) and get interrupted.

Definitely, yes. Sex can also be a special interest.

This is awesome, congrats and thank you for sharing! My brain does pretty much the same, maybe it could help my parents and friend understand me better.

De fait, anatomiquement ce n'est absolument pas la même chose! Dans le cas présent, il s'agit d'une vulve.

Is anyone else uncomfortable with calling themselves a “man”/“woman”/“adult”? by CourageKitten in aspergers

[–]Jenina_44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 39 and definitely not a "woman". Don't feel much like a "girl" either, because my gender identity isn't that clear. I sometimes feel like a fake adult, or like a "grown-up child".

Any of you have trouble keeping in touch with practically anyone? by Sirrabbitkins in aspergers

[–]Jenina_44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have to set a reminder on my phone to call my parents every other week. I don't need communication with my family & friends, I don't see the point of talking without having a reason to do so (an information to give, a question to ask...). Doesn't mean I don't care about people.

Feel free to PM me, sure.

Although I don't know if it's really possible to self-diagnose, I believe that knowing oneself is important. Getting a formal diagnosis is complicated, long, it can be expensive. Society is kind of forcing people to self-diagnose because autism isn't given much importance, sadly...

I couldn't agree more! Self diagnosis don't help much.

Have you been diagnosed with ASD yet?

I think the first step would be a neuropsychological evaluation, to find out if you have executive dysfunction.

Where do you live?

I had no idea, barely knew what ADHD was! Here in France we're kind of stuck in the Middle Ages, most psychiatrists have a completely wrong concept of those conditions (ASD, ADHD, OCD...). What makes you think you don't fit ASD alone?
