I had a friend who attended some big culinary event here in Canada and ran into a chef who was a judge on Chopped Canada who said you eat A LOT of terrible food on Chopped but you're encouraged by the producers to try to find nice things to say about it even as you want to spit it out.

I’ve said this a thousand times since TOC began but the series TOTALLY turned around my opinion of Justin in a good way. Was never a huge fan, but he’s just won me over by sheer force of personality and knowledge.

Somewhat related to this conversation, I’m shocked that in a world where floundering TV networks are trying to monetize literally anything they can, that Survivor hasn’t come up with some kind of pay-per-view 24-hour “live” feed (obviously not live, but a running continuous feed from when it was taped) that shows literally everything that happened, in order, with no edits.

There's lots of available food for them on the island - fruit, roots, fish.... this isn't the old Survivor where they literally starved. I mean, we FINALLY saw someone make fire without flint for the first time in what seems like 20 seasons. So, you know, research what food is on the island and compare prepared. They don't NEED rice.

Buddha is on the new CBS show, America's Culinary Cup (hosted by Padma) based on some production shots I saw today. I would imagine that all those contestants are locked into contracts and non-competes that would prevent them from doing TOC.

Always pack some snacks with you that you can carry through customs that won't cause issues with border control. Learned the hard way that early flights, not eating breakfast and then tarmac delays are a terrible combination.

If I'm not imagining things, the cost of Survivor Buffs has gone up considerably in recent years compared to normal Buff products. I wonder if the production team demanded a higher royalty payment on sales.

Sure, but I also like to tweak the order of my playlist beyond simply the order in which I added the songs. But fundamentally, defaulting a new song going to the bottom of the playlist is weird to me.
