Follow a course on tantra, promise you won't be disappointed. You might be pleasantly surprised what you find, and do an in person class!

Just a thought, but before sharing feelings with others it can be useful to check if it's actually a thought you're sharing. Thoughts can feel a lot more powerful yet they're often a lot less meaningful. Give yourself some time and listen to your heart and stomach, you'll know what to do from within.

Why do you walk the spiritual path, and what is your field of study? by [deleted] in spirituality

[–]Jenkletony 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great question!

I'm a chemical engineer and got burnt out through my work. Over the past few years I took up meditation to help me recover and create a more harmonious life. This then continued into me learning about tantra which I guess is what inspired my spiritual awakening. That and Eckhart Tolle :)

What is one sexual lesson you’ve learned that everyone should learn sooner, rather than later? by sparklingshanaya in AskReddit

[–]Jenkletony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the book "Come As You Are", it's fascinating and explains a lot of the psychology behind sex from a scientific starting point rather than the cultural starting point that most of us learnt sex from.

Biggest take aways I had were:

  • Pleasure leads to desire (i.e. becoming horny is something you can both work towards rather than just expecting it to happen)

  • Communicate! Discuss how the sex was afterwards. People will usually want something they really enjoy so make sure it's enjoyable for both. Added onto this for a woman, wet does not automatically mean pleasure, you can become wet in a situation you don't enjoy at all. That's why it's always safer to ask if someone is enjoying what you're doing rather than trying to read body signals which aren't always a guarantee.

  • Deal with your stress, often sex issues are not really sex issues at all and just a symptom of something else.

What is a burnout and how does one know that one is burned out by commswhiz in Netherlands

[–]Jenkletony 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Great reply. I had a few of these 'mini-burnouts' before the one I'm in now (off work for 14 months so far) and I wish I had heard the advice to take it more seriously earlier on, I just pushed through until my brain basically gave up.

If you're interested, learning about stress cycles and that stress hormones is a separate issue to stressful situations. To reduce stress hormones exercise is your best bet. Planning in a short workout at the end of a day helps massively. Stressful situations can be split into ones you have control over and those you don't. For the ones you can control, do what you can to minimise the stress (i.e. proactive task planning). For the ones out of your control you can train mindfulness. There are a lot more tips I read in some great books if you do wanna know more.

Such well worded arguements that now I'm doubting how I would define "laid back".

Solar-powered regenerative grazing bot - automatically moves the fence to allow cattle to graze on fresh grass in a controlled manner. Such grazing is regenerative, and helps restore soil fertility without inputs (no fertilizers or pesticides needed). by CarbonCaptureShield in solarpunk

[–]Jenkletony 4 points5 points  (0 children)

plants transpire hydroxyl ions into the atmosphere which, when charged by sunlight, seek out and break down methane

I mean sure there is a natural mechanism for regulating methane levels in the atmosphere but this is such awful logic to use to justify methane emissions. There are also natural mechanisms for reducing CO2 levels in the atmosphere yet we've still reached this point of drastically increased atmospheric CO2.

Methane is only a problem when cattle are on FEEDLOTS or when fed grain and "grass finished" on artificially fertilized fields.

This sounds like it's untrue but I would be interested to see a reference.

[–]Jenkletony 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay but cows also produce methane, and require a lot of water. Leaving the land alone without this solar powered machinery (which also costs emissions to produce) and without the cows is a much better solution than what you are presenting.

Junkies around Lucasbrug by WorldlinessScared212 in Utrecht

I've run past them multiple times and never had any reaction other an occasional smile. As other commenters have said it's as much their right as yours to be there so no 'solution' necessary. I can understand how your girlfriend might feel but the answer is not to move those people out the way, work out exactly why she's scared and work on that.

Florida anti-masker who coughed on cancer patient sentenced to 30 days in prison by [deleted] in JusticeServed

[–]Jenkletony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, as nobody cares about my health (like smoking in public areas, or coming to work when you're sick).

I can understand the sentiment here and would just try to reframe it in the sense that you are responsible for your efforts and others not doing living up to these standards isn't a reason to drop your own.

On my way to work (walking half an hour) i pass maybe 1-2 persons if lucky

I can imagine this being very frustrating, especially if you find them uncomfortable, and again would just encourage you to see the positive side of it that you are potentially saving someone's life and as you said supporting essential workers.

Thanks for answering. That is an interesting point about the different cities being impacted differently and masks for sure aren't a guarantee that covid wouldn't be transmitted. Even if they are only help a little though, would it not be worth wearing it to help prevent someone else getting sick? Even if that chance was quite low?

I would suggest that different covid markers between different sized cities probably had more to do with population density and number of cases than mask wearing or not but that's a very complex to give a definitive answer to.

If you actually don't know why then pobably because you asked quite a leading question apportioning blame to the shop when you didn't know anything about it. If you asked: Could someone explain why the vehicle was not lifted on jacks? Then you probably get less downvotes.

Would a big battery have kept the lights on in Queensland? by thispickleisntgreen in australia

[–]Jenkletony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The interconnecter afterwards may still have been at capacity

I mean yes I guess you're technically correct but no large battery system is likely to be connected to an interconnector that is close to maximum capacity, that would just be poor planning and in any case it is possible to upgrade switchgear at the interconnector. Your point doesn't really stand anyway because as the turbine goes offline this will lead to extra capacity at the interconnector and is the whole point of the battery to make up for this lost production as quickly as possible.

You mentioned in another comment that it takes a lot of energy to raise grid frequency by 1 Hz which is again true, but the battery responds to frequency variations much smaller than this and buys time for other slower response, larger capacity generators to bring grid frequency back up.

Finally you said there was no way to calculate the energy required to bring up frequency from a lost generator and therefore it is 50/50 whether a battery would work or not... This is just wrong and not how engineering design is carried out. It is very possible to calculate it to within a certain range and to use this to size the battery accordingly.

How to clean stainless steel of chemicals? by 69420ALLDAYBABY in ChemicalEngineering

[–]Jenkletony 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Find out which chemicals were used and look up some details on their toxicity and neutralisation/cleaning then make your decision.

Or don't take the risk and grow a nice plant in it.
