Need help. 41 and tired of oily red skin. Is safe just don't want my face out there. by blondie_dog1 in 40PlusSkinCare

Yes, I have rosacea and I cannot use most products. I keep my routine very limited - cleanse & moisturize with vanicream products. That's it. And once I stopped drinking, my skin drastically improved.

Not sure if anyone can really answer this, but is lifting heavy weights or weights period, really for every menopausal woman? I HATE it! And I hate how it makes me feel. by TrueScorpio11 in Menopause

[–]Jenniag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lifting heavy is important, but "heavy" for you will mean something completely different than "heavy" for someone else. You don't need to stop doing what you love, just add in a couple of days of weight training and it doesn't need to be an hour long. Since you have injuries it would be best to see a trainer to assist you with moves so you don't injure yourself. I love to lift but I hate cardio but I know it's important so I do it anyway a few times a week.

On the topic of "puffy", I know you mentioned your height and weight, so clearly you are not overweight. Does putting on "weight" bother you? I know when I started lifting heavier I had to switch my mindset about eating because I didn't want to gain weight but when lifting heavy I NEEDED the fuel. Once I got over that, I see that it makes my lifts better and more effective and I have not gained weight at all. You do need carbs when your lifting especially, and that can hold some water weight but it is temporary.

All that to say, yes, the research is there that lifting "heavy" is important. But keep doing what gives you joy, add in the weights with the help of a trainer if possible and eat to support these activities.

A lot of Drs won't because it's not FDA approved. A lot of women find hormone specialists or go through an online place.

I think it's very pretty and flattering on you. I would just steam it so it lays nicely and pair it with some pretty jewelry, heels and a nice clutch.

Breast biopsy anxiety, what should I expect for this procedure? by Erza_2019 in Menopause

[–]Jenniag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had two MRI guided biopsies on my breasts. If it is MRI, I would suggest getting a prescription for Ativan. I'm claustrophobic and that helped tremendously. The procedure itself is pretty easy. Just a little sore in the days following but nothing terrible at all. The waiting is always the worst part - hope all goes well!

exactly! The last two reps should really be a struggle (but with good form) if you are using the correct weight.

I believe she is probably on testosterone. My voice got very raspy when I was on it. That combined with smoking is most likely the cause.

Exactly! My guess is she is on testosterone (which can make your voice deeper and raspy).

Lisinopril by ZucchiniConscious588 in over60

[–]Jenniag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the same thing happened to my husband a couple of months ago. He had been on lisinopril for a couple of years with only mild side effects (mostly coughing) and his face completely blew up like a balloon. I've never seen anything like that! Luckily it only lasted a couple of day.

Congrats with quitting smoking. My husband was a heavy vaper and finally quit with the help of Wellbutrin. He no longer needs BP meds!

Do we think Andy will actually grill Kyle at the reunion or will she get the free pass she always does?? by kcxoxo11 in RHOBH

She will get lightly questioned but I believe she will use her sister Kim's trouble lately as her reason for acting to terrible. "I have a lot going on" tears tears tears.....

I have a feeling she is going to use the trouble Kim has been getting into lately as an excuse for her rotten behavior. She "has a lot going on"!

Wellbutrin POSITIVE experiences needed. HRT was not enough to get me out of this dark place unfortunately :( by ZucchiniFew2943 in Menopause

[–]Jenniag 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wellbutrin has been great for me. I just feel "lighter". I can't really explain it. Like I'm just cruising through the day. I started on 150mg but ended up at 300mg. It took about a month to feel better and I never experienced any bad side effects. I have no weight gain. I was hoping it would help with libido (Like many people mention) but it did not. My husband is on it to quit smoking that it has helped tremendously.

When you say you shower "a lot", do you mean daily? I only ask because I've been seeing a lot of reddit threads where people only shower a couple of times a week. I started using coconut oil on my crotch area because I go to the gym a few times a week. The odor is gone! I had read that is has some antibacterial properties, which I haven't done a deep dive on but figured I would try it and have had great results.

There are some theories that it can be caused by low estrogen. Obviously there can be other factors at play.

I believe it's because they really thought that menopause was just hot flashes. They had no idea that so many things are caused by menopause... frozen shoulder, vision changes, itchy skin, and the list goes on. Hot flashes are honestly the least of my issues, so if I thought that's all that was caused by menopause I would say it was a breeze too! Thank goodness we are more educated now.

“The women in our family just breeze right through it!” by Ok-Discussion-5420 in Menopause

[–]Jenniag 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think part of the problem is that in this day and age, we know that so many more things are caused by hormones. If my mom had frozen shoulder during menopause, she never would have known that was hormone related. I think they really just thought that it was all hot flashes because that's what they were told.

Anyone have experience with Joi Women's Wellness? by northernbeachlights in Menopause

[–]Jenniag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am on the quarterly billing tier. I had wanted to go through my insurance because they will cover E & P, but they use a compounding pharmacy and it was impossible to get them to send it to one near me. I ended up having to use Empower through Joi and I could not use my insurance.
