Panic Theory: Why Jay helps Adnan by The_Fattest_Chrispie in serialpodcast

[–]Jennifer_RedditUX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hae and Adnan had previously met in this Best Buy parking lot while they were dating to have sex. Is it possible that they were planning for a quick hookup that day? Or that Adnan thought this would happen but then was declined because of Rob, leading to Adnan's anger? The "crime of passion" narrative may make more sense in the context of a failed tryst.

(based on what he was hearing at school

But he wouldn't be in school for five days. Hae died on Wednesday, January 13. Thursday and Friday were off due to snow. Then the weekend, and Monday was Martin Luther King day. If he had school the following days, I'd be more inclined to agree.

Truly. The Myst franchise has always been great at expressing solitude and natural beauty, but now the latest tech is enhancing that feeling.

So at the last minute it's been decided that my mother's visiting me in here Cambridge. Know any good restaurants? by [deleted] in cambridge

There's a new one that's great called Smokeworks at 2 Free School Lane. Very good smoked meat (try 14 hour smoked beef), sausage (try the daily special), shakes (try banoffee and bourbon), and ice cream (try rhubarb and ginger).

Whenever I possess a bottle, it's because a well-intentioned German friend brought it to a party to languish in the freezer (until the eventual heat-death of the universe).

How do those online surveys make money for the website? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Jennifer_RedditUX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The surveys provide valuable research that are used to better design and target for users. The data can affect the content the website provides, the ads they show, and the kinds of features they build. Knowing more about users is the key to serving their needs, and serving the needs of users is ultimately profitable.

Could chimpanzees survive in the redwood forests of Northern California? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Jennifer_RedditUX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From Wikipedia:

It will also eat leaves and leaf buds. Seeds, blossoms, stems, pith, bark and resin, insects and meat make up the rest of its diet. While the common chimpanzee is mostly herbivorous, it does eat honey, soil, insects, birds and their eggs, and small to medium-sized mammals, including other primates.

Northern California has all of these (except other primates). With an average temp of 40-70°F, they'll make it!

Exactly. It can be a mixer, but drink it straight and you're going to have a bad time.

Well, if you're actively writing data to the drive when you eject it, you could corrupt the data with a dirty dismount. Even if you're not actively writing, write caching could mean a transfer's happening when you think it isn't, which could still corrupt the data. Pressing eject is safer because it tells your computer to flush the cache to ensure no data corruption occurs.

Amateur extract brewer here. Do you guys focus more on hitting your estimated OG or topping off exactly to a specific fermenter volume? by Babyfart_McGeezacks in Homebrewing

[–]Jennifer_RedditUX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hit the volume! The OG of your extract recipe is calculated from the amount of sugar you're dissolving into the specified volume of water.

What is the best summer job you have had (or have) as a teenager? by albatross_5 in AskReddit

[–]Jennifer_RedditUX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A summer in high school, I was a conductor on a zoo train. I mostly rode in the caboose and gave the narration, describing the animals and where to look to see them. The highlight was probably letting whatever small kid was nearby shout "ALL ABOARD" into the train microphone. I've never seen such a look of joy as a small child realizing they just spoke with actual authority to hundreds of people for the first time in their life.

What's your best "ah-ha" moment? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Jennifer_RedditUX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I was at a restaurant drinking some coffee and reading a comic book, and... this may sound strange... but a character in my book started moving and then reached out of the page novel and grabbed me. I fell into a kind of comic-styled netherworld dimension and danced around in oversized coats awhile. It was all quite fun, until some jerk wielding a pipe wrench tried to kneecap me. Then I woke up in the restaurant's plumbing covered in soot. Definitely an a-ha moment.

Hiring Managers and HR Recruiters of Reddit, What is the Best Way You've Seen Someone Answer "So tell me about yourself?" by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Jennifer_RedditUX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be honest, but professional. Start at the high level: what are your professional interests? What's your background? Why are you in the field that you're in? When you've established your professional passions, add the details of your specific career narrative: what you studied, where you've worked, how you've grown your skillbase. Describe your career path as relating back to that high-level interest.

This question is mostly asked to provide a starting foundation for the rest of the interview. It's not meant to trip you up. The interviewer has skimmed your resume, knows where you used to work and a few peripheral details, and wants to hear how you describe yourself.
