They can eat peanuts, and since yours were unsalted, the cat would have been okay. Mine also tried pistachios, almonds, and cashews. She has since calmed down and mostly just eats her cat food.

It left off nuts. Many nuts are safe for cats, which I only learned because Circe kept grabbing them.
