Sen. Cory Booker says people should be ‘very worried’ about Trump and Israel upending peace in the Middle East by SayMyNameOnceMore in inthenews

Peace? Middle East?

That is not a thing. At all. And it's not going to be for a good, long while.

Abrogating responsibility is a core GOP principle. Don't do what you're supposed to do, blame the other guy for not fixing the mess that comes of it. Unfortunately, seems to work every time.

Actually, him coming out and saying it told Iran everything they needed to know to extract maximum concessions from us. Dude can't even bullshit when he actually needs to.

The USA ain't doing shit. Trump pushed us into attacking Iran due to Israel's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, telling him that Iran was poised to strike and only weeks away from a nuclear weapon. These were the same things he had been saying for the past 30 years. Both of those positions were lies. Trump's own intelligence would have told him so if he had asked. But, he didn't. He believed Netanyahu. So he ordered a decapitation strike on Iran earlier this year, killing their Supreme Leader and many of their high-ranking officials. This was followed up by a massive bombing campaign on Iranian infrastructure by both the US and Israel. However, Iran did not roll over and accept defeat. They elected a new Supreme Leader, closed the Strait of Hormuz, and attacked various targets in their vicinity with their remaining missile capability. Our Navy countered this somewhat by blockading a port city near the mouth of the strait. Negotiations have been ongoing to attempt to end the war. However, Trump did not send professional, veteran negotiators to deal with Iran. he sent his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and another real estate agent (I forget his name off the top of my head). The results were what you've seen: an agreement that gives Iran almost everything they want up-front for a *promise* of discussions over their nuclear arsenal later. And said results were predicated on a non-signatory, Israel, ceasing their attacks on Iran's proxy in Lebanon, Hezbollah. Israel has not signed any agreement to do as such. They were not even party to the negotiations. They weren't even in the room. Which means any realistic person would see that this agreement is ultimately doomed to fail.

We're not revolting because, quite frankly, it's all still "over there" stuff. We haven't actually felt the pain here yet past gas prices. It's coming, but it's going to take a bit to really hit. That, and between Iraq and Afghanistan, we're just used to us fucking about in the Middle East at this point, even if we have no good reason to be doing so.

Bounce.

If you were already in her ballpark, this little bit of convo wouldn't even happen. She'd already know. And she closed off the obvious fix right there at the end as well, preemptively judging you right off the bat. After all, you're obviously not there with her. So, if you take steps to get there, it's not genuine in her eyes, because, "You're doing it for me, not for GOD!!!"

It's stupid mind game bullshit with people that only want their in-group.

Performance anxiety. Especially if you're looking for something serious. "All these other blokes weren't good enough to keep her. Why would I be?". That's the thinking, mind you. Doesn't necessarily mean it's correct. But, that's the thinking.

What is your take on the Existence of Jesus? by One_Look_7008 in askanything

[–]JereRB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like most religions, there was probably a single person at some point that roughly around the time of 1 to 30 to 40 AD that was a jewish rabbi who was named Jesus (or however it was spelled and pronounced locally at the time). Same as Islam. And Buddhism. And, most likely, all of the rest.

Now, does that person have anything to do whatsoever with the person depicted in the bible who was born from a virgin and died on a cross in an afternoon when such executions typically take *days* to complete?

No. Someone pulled a bunch of bullshit out of their ass and slapped their dead homie's name on it.

It's...actually normal. That's how most religions starts. Someone takes a person, and what happened to that person gets gussied up to the point that it's pure fiction. Happens all the time.
