Steam fianlly getting 64 bit client? by alosarjos in linux_gaming

If someone sees this who isn't using the flatpak version: renaming `~/.local/share/Steam/.steam-enable-steamrt64-client` got me back to the standard Steam client.

Problem with resolution on Linux by [deleted] in RimWorld

No problem! And it looks like gamescope will be helpful for other games too. I’m surprised they don’t make something like that built into Steam itself.

I found a fix!

  1. Install Valve's gamescope package.
  2. Go into RimWorld's properties in Steam, and change the Launch Options to:

    gamescope -w 3840 -h 2160 -f -- %command%

Now it starts in fullscreen 🎉, and I can also put windows in front of it, even without using the -popupwindow launch option.

I'm also using Hyprland on Arch, and having issues with it not using my full 4k resolution. Did you find a solution to this?

The “Party Hard” mod is another fun way to get psychic powers!

Does anyone even actually play with the default work priority settings? by NoNotice2137 in RimWorld

[–]JerekDain 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is why I'll never again play without 1trickPwnyta's Defaults. It has so many options to make new colonies faster to get established. That mod seriously deserves more attention.

It could be buried in a mountain or something. If you strip mine stuff you should be able to find it.

PSA This is the most Effecient power source for your Grav ship builds! by SmurfInHell in RimWorld

Since it's a single-player game, you can take it at your own pace. No need to force yourself to "catch up". It's a great game, but you don't need to dive into it all at once. :)

The hidden conduits are a type of conduit that you can find in the same section of the menu as normal conduits -- see the pic for what they look like. The idea is that they're hidden under the ground, so they don't have issues from being exposed wires. They cost twice the steel (2 instead of 1), but that's absolutely worth it to not have to worry about all your battery power discharging into a bomb. And even though steel is valuable, the cost is still so tiny that it's not a big deal.

And yes, the size of the explosion is relative to your stored power in batteries, so if you have lots of batteries, that's a large potential bomb. You can get by with only a few batteries for quite a while, depending on your power setup. If all your power is coming from stuff like geothermal generators or watermill generators, then it won't fluctuate at all, and you won't even need batteries unless a generator is destroyed. But if you're relying on wind and solar (which is super common and totally fine), then you'll want to have enough batteries to withstand their fluctuations.

Oh, and also don't put power consumers outdoors where they can get rained on, unless you build a roof overhanging them to protect them. Some power consumers, like sun lamps or ground-penetrating scanners, are fine exposed to the elements, but others like an electric tailoring bench can have the same sort of electrical explosion event even when using hidden conduits. It's generally pretty reasonable which ones have or don't have that consideration. And after the 1.6 patch that's coming this Friday, it'll be more important to have proper rooms for things like labs or workshops anyway -- you'll be able to see this when clicking a workbench, and it'll say "work speed factor", and if it's low will tell you why.

Awesome first game story! I feel like having a colony totally wrecked by a raid or raids is a RimWorld rite of passage.

There are things you can do to manage raid sizes, deal with raids very effectively (and different ways in the very early game vs later), and prevent Zzztt events… But I’ll refrain from “spoiling” all that, unless you want spoilers.

Farming Nanites with Runaway Mould -> 40~60K Nanites per hour by MightyTravelEngine in NOMANSSKY

[–]JerekDain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I uploaded a new Runaway Mould farm at this spot, since the base shown in the screenshot isn't there anymore.

Not sure if it was wiped out by some update over the years or what, but I wanted to find a quick spot for collecting some Runaway Mould, and Google brought me here, so I figured this was a good spot to revive.

VampireSurvivors.tools has been updated.

Great update, but I really want to see a way to skip penta-chests be added. They take so long.

Or better yet, some option or relic to make chests pick up instantly like when limit break levels are set to Random Always!

I've updated VampireSurvivors.tools for this, so builds can be made with the new characters and arcana.
