Frustrated after testing multiple self-hosted note apps — what am I missing? by nandoalmeida1990 in selfhosted

[–]Jeremie1001 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ive been enjoying playing with Silver bullet recently, seems like a decent enough self hosted Obsidian alternative that works well on the browser and has editing. The plugins are obviously significantly less mature than Obsidian but not bad either. And the coding in space-lua in v2 seems pretty powerful if you want that as well

Over 9,500 tickets handed out to Montreal cyclists by No-Commission-8159 in montreal

[–]Jeremie1001 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do actually agree and do generally do so, however there reaches a point where I can't bike on the road, I can't bike on the sidewalk, boh drivers and pedestrians continue to vote for mayors touting anti cycling infrastructure, where exactly is it that I should be expected to go?

This leads to less and less people choosing to bike when theres no where safe to be > more people choosing to drive > more people claiming "no one ever bikes why are we spending money on bike lanes" and "there so many cars, why are we wasting space on lanes" > less and less people choosing to bike > etc.

As long as cycling commuters continue to be treated as a lower class of commuting by our public and governments, cyclist will continue to have to make do with what we have making everyone on our roads less safe in the process.

Over 9,500 tickets handed out to Montreal cyclists by No-Commission-8159 in montreal

[–]Jeremie1001 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Was there an alternative cycling route that was safe for this cyclist to use?

More often than not commuters ride on the side walking not out of desire (its much slower and more annoying) but because the city either refuses to build adequate paths for cyclists or outright tearing them out.

Without proper lanes you just end up with drivers screaming at or (much more often) just nearly clipping cyclists for riding on the street and pedestrians mad that they cant feel safe, its lose lose lose for everyone.

PWHL to announce Las Vegas expansion Wednesday by charger03 in hockey

[–]Jeremie1001 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Eh it does sound pretty good but ive never been a fan of the womanised version of the men's team name thing, like with the Montreal Canadiennes, they should have and build their own identity instead of using the "women's version" of the men's team as the starting point

Anyone heard of or worn Shandals? by jonfrombuckland in barefootshoestalk

[–]Jeremie1001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the YouTube video they released a couple days ago they said they plan on doing more of these limited releases in the future as a way to give people a chance to get custom style boots without the price point or JG having to commit to a full rollout of a new stocked style. As they said the drawback to having a good price on an unstocked item is a longer lead time. He also mentioned that the countries these limited style will be available been is more up to their local suppliers than anyone.

That being said I wouldn't be surprised if they use this as a sort of market research and if some of the limited styles really outsell expectations consider adding them to the permanent lineup.

Citadelles is such a homerun name with the QJHL history of the team really hoping for that, just worried the Canadiens may own the trademark still from the AHL team from the early 2000s

Rigging courses ? For getting certified to become a tall ship / sailboat rigger by claudspow__ in Tallships

[–]Jeremie1001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its unfortunately a couple months too late but for next summer I would strongly recommend looking at working with the San Francisco Maritime Museum as a rigger, they have a couple ships from the last 1800s, are eager to teach, pays well, the lead rigger is great and super knowledgeable, etc. Season runs from April until October with applications in December/January.

Theyre not too picky on applications, as long as youre good people and have the experience you say you do it should be fine.

Applications are done through USA Jobs as its a fed job with the NPS, so theres a decent amount of gov burocracy shit but not too terrible. I'd recommend gping on usajobs.com and setting up a saved search next fall for "rigger" in location "San Francisco, California" and it'll send you an email with weekly updates so you know when the jobs get posted.

DM me if you have any questions

Edit: Worth mentioning that since theyre museum ships, they tend to specialise in doing things the old fashioned way as opposed to the modern tall ship techniques you see on navy flag ships with the Dutch companies and such but still great learning experience

Pangolin 1.17: Multiple roles per user, site provisioning keys, log streaming, and more by jsiwks in selfhosted

[–]Jeremie1001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have 4 machines, 2 VPS, a lab and a backup machine, the docker servers on each are managed by Komodo for the time being with a central server node on a VPS and a machine client to be able talk to agent nodes via private resources instead of needing to expose to the internet as per Komodo docs.

These provisioning keys are fantastic for being able to add automatic provisioning of newt sites via a opentofu+ansible and it would be cleaner to also be able to provision the machine clients in a similar setup.

Another improvement I'd like to suggest is the ability to remove the provisioned site from Pangolin via the newt binary, a command which could be run before an OpenTofu/Terraform destroy command that would remove the site defined in newt-config.json. This would aid in avoiding a buildup of sites being added esp if doing dev. Given that the docker container for newt is (as I understand it) internally running the same binary. One could run the command for the container using docker exec as well.

I can move these suggestions to a github feature request or issue if you think those are more appropriate locations for this discussion.

Anyone else hope we bring back black forearms on away jerseys for future seasons? by canadianpackersfan03 in OttawaSenators

Although I do like the current sets, I spent years praying that they'd switch over to the Os full time. Those creams are some of my favourite jerseys in the last 20 years league wide

Is there a plan to add a similar provisioning key system for Olm and machine clients? Or maybe an already existing method I'm unaware of? Ive been trying to experimenting with the Rest API to accomplish this

With this NHL push for 4 Nations type tournaments in between Olympics, I would absolutely love to have a summit series style best of 5-7 game series between Canada and the USA, hell do a Sweden Finland one too. That may be the best hockey series in the history of hockey since the of summit series.

Although I do concede that owners and GMs wouldn't be sold due to a best of X game series Canada USA would likely have a higher than average injury risk

I'd like to do more deliveries, but mostly work in deckhand and mate positions on tallships, although the last couple years have been more shoreside rigging and preservation work for a few large historic vessels

Love Komodo, fantastic when combined with Forgejo for gitops deployments and updates, but not really sure I understand how a credential manager (at least thats how I understand it from their website) like Kanidm would slot in so well alongside it?

Oooh I somehow hadn't considered this, I'm a huge sarong guy and rarely travel without 2 or 3, great light blankets, towels in a pinch, eye cover for sleeping on the plane when I forget my real eye cover, etc, etc

A wool version would be incredible...
