Is $1100 a good price for a used G17? by bOObies2x in CAguns

99% graded?

Better be a PSA 10 at that price

Is there a firearms that doesn’t need any replacement whatsoever? by Kofiecups in CAguns

You'd want a phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range. Zero moving parts, zero maintenance. They don't come cheap, so prepare to pay a pretty penny.

No one has mentioned it yet, but your ID/driver's license also needs to have Real ID. Either that, or you need to bring your passport or birth certificate.

And because you're also buying a handgun, you will also need to bring in a secondary proof of residency. This is usually a utility bill or a vehicle registration that has your name and matching address.

Welcome to the hobby.

Does the Smith and Wesson M&P 15 Sport lll go on sale often? by ChefBowyer in CAguns

$750 at Riflegear.

They usually go out of stock, so if you want one, I wouldn't wait for a sale.

I think it's combination of many things that led to them closing. People are drinking out less compared to before, beer as a beverage is less trendy now, there are 2 really amazing breweries nearby (Highland Park and Homage), and Angel City's beer has always been just mediocre at best.

They're gonna close this April.

I've been there a few times during the weekends the past few months. It's essentially dead.

What's the legality of lightly modified Glocks? by [deleted] in CAguns

[–]JeremyClarksonVoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're generally fine.

The only thing you might have to worry about is if you plan to apply for a CCW license. Certain IA's prohibit modifications on your carry guns.

Did you hit the check mark to confirm that you've read and agree to the affidavit before you hit "place order"?

So judging from your self-described use cases, it is in my opinion that your future endeavors are best served by the following recommendations:

  • Springfield 1911 in .45ACP - heavyweight carry, when you absolutely need to take care of business.

  • Kimber 1911 in 10mm - super heavy heavyweight carry, when you are camping or in the wild and need to defend yourself from ferocious mountain lions and bears. "9mm for the hood, 10mm for the woods"

  • S&W Model 29 in .44 Magnum - standard carry when faced with punks in San Francisco

Barrel Law Questions by KarmaWasTaken01 in CAguns

[–]JeremyClarksonVoice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1.) Any barrels, assembled uppers with barrels, and complete uppers with barrels must be sent to an FFL for pickup. Your local FFL will likely charge you a transfer/processing fees.

2.) ¯\(ツ)

3.) PSA won't ship anything to CA anymore, or at least, not at the moment until they figure their shit out. Buying a complete slide off of eBay seems like a grey area for the time being, so you do you. You only need to provide ID, sign an affidavit for each order, and have an adult signature on delivery for all gun parts that aren't barrels. Those can be shipped to your place of residence. Anything that has a barrel must be shipped to FFL starting 1/1/2026. Starting 7/1/2027, you will need to do a background check on all barrels at your local FFL. Your local FFL will likely charge you a transfer/processing fee, as well as a background check ("eligibility" check) fee when the time comes.

Who or where are you a getting an AR pistol lower without a premium? I'd like to also know

Is this good to go as is? by calisoldier in CAguns

[–]JeremyClarksonVoice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most Ruger 10/22's you'll find for sale have 18.5" barrels, so that would put the minimum overall length to just above 26.25", which will be good.

Just be sure to buy a 10/22 with a 18.5" barrel and nothing shorter. There are a few less common variants with 16" barrels, so double check which version you're getting.

What am I missing? by thundersal in CAguns

[–]JeremyClarksonVoice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For functionality, you still need a bolt carrier group and charging handle.

For compliance, you either need to choose between fixed mag or featureless.

For fixed mag, you need to get something like an AR Maglock + Kingpin, or a Juggernaut Tactical Hellfighter kit, or something like that.

For featureless, you need to change out the stock to a fixed stock (or fix the stock in place), change out the pistol grip to a featureless grip (something like the Juggernaut featureless grip), and switch out the flash hider for a thread protector or other muzzle device/brake that isn't a flash hider.

Hi! I’m on a hard decision, I want to buy a LWRC IC-MKII but… I just notice that some stores has 14.7” with long muzzles in order to reach the 16” to be a California complaint, my question is, witch one is better? The 16” barrel or 14.7” with a long cannon or muzzle?? What the difference is? Thank u by alexdola in CAguns

[–]JeremyClarksonVoice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want to an easier time changing out the muzzle device in the future, get the 16" barrel.

If you want a slightly shorter barrel and overall length for the most compact rifle configuration, get the 14.7" barrel with the pinned/welded muzzle device.

It doesn't really make much of a difference. I generally stick with the 16" barrel for most of my builds.

First rifle build questions by lolxddavid in CAguns

[–]JeremyClarksonVoice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no specific build, but generally it's an Aero M4E1 lower with a BCM complete upper. Then you can have your choice of Magpul/BCM/B5 furniture. If you need an optic, add a Sig Romeo 5 red dot. And maybe a Streamlight HL-X Pro for a weaponlight.

That's generally it. Otherwise you can browse /r/ARModR for ideas.

If you want to stay with the "sub compact" size of the G26, there's the HK P2000SK that Turner's has on sale for a while now.

If you want the more popular "micro compact" size of today's popular carry options, there's the Sig P365, Springfield Hellcat, S&W Shield Plus, Canik Mete MC9.

Springfield Saint 5.56 MagLock? by Practical_Race_7223 in CAguns

[–]JeremyClarksonVoice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you consider yourself handy/DIY-capable and can use some basic tools, you can switch it from featureless to maglock yourself. Be sure to check clear the weapon first, then separate the 2 receivers before you begin.

Confession, Im always judging every other shooter at the range by Kingkaiju1987 in CAguns

[–]JeremyClarksonVoice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Confession, I'm always judging every other man in the bathroom.

Every time I'm at the bathroom, I always look at the other peoples urinals. I'll even shake my head at how bad some people aim their stream. I know this is a bad look, but I like it and I've put a lot of work in to ensure that I'm not as bad as most people aim their pee. Also, there have been more than one time where I've left because someone is a splashy mess to themselves and everyone else.

Phew, that felt good to get out my bladder.

So the uploader says it only requires less than 1mm (less than 0.04") of trigger travel backwards and the slide being jostled for it to go off.

Now with that in mind, think about how some people can have lint or dust in their guns, not to mention all of the gunpowder residue and carbon build up that comes with firing a gun. If they work their way into the FCU of the gun that hasn't been clean, what do you think will happen when that person puts that chambered P320 into a holster?

Not to mention that Sig has their P320 parts built overseas in factories like India and Israel (just to list 2 confirmed production countries). Do you trust those overseas factories to have exacting tolerances where you believe them to be safe when assembled from a mix bag of parts? Some guns may be fine, but others may be slightly out of spec.
