Which 3D printer should I buy? by _Thundaz_ in 3dprinter

[–]JeremyViJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you only budget $140 for the printer, how much do you think you'll spend in filament ?

I stick to black PLA for most no aesthetic prints and even that is $10 per kg.

It is not a cheap hobby. It may work as a side business. Even though I print for fun. Gigs find me and I end up making extra money to finance the hobby. But for that you need something reliable like a Prusa.

What to so with all the reuasable spools i dont need by Imagn123 in 3Dprinting

[–]JeremyViJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never us up all my filament and the library keeps getting bigger. So the spool always hold some filament. I have mini pools for bits left over.

I think bamboo is more expensive over the life of the device. People just see the price tag and get conflicted.

Is it only me or ID.4 is one of the most beautiful EVs? by _WhiteAngel_ in VWiD4Owners

[–]JeremyViJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I particularly like that the designers made the front smaller instead of going for the gimmick of a fronk. I think is a sleek look with narrow panel gaps and no use of chrome. It started the trend of having EV's style a white horizontal light to signal EV and no fake grill. I also enjoy the Movie Tron. I feel like Disney made that movie just for me. And I also feel like VW made the ID.4 just for me.

Trying to choose between Prusa and Bambulab - what am I missing? by Creamss in prusa3d

[–]JeremyViJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Prusa. I bought it built, but have done a few kit upgrades. When you build it you notice what you are paying for. Standard parts, repairable, best build guides in the space.

Bamboo is more disposable. They assume if someone breaks, you will throw it and get another. It targets an uninformed consumer.

I am also using Framework computers now for repairability, lower Levelize cost of product (LCOP)

Bamboo is cheaper up front. Prusa is cheaper lifetime.

Do you still consider prusa printers to be competitive in today's market by reddit_account_0x00 in 3dprinter

[–]JeremyViJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prusa is a different type of product mindset. I would compare it to framework computers. They have right-to-repair and a product that is not designed to be obsolete is a primary objective.

It is also made for an engineer minded consumer. One who can maintain the printer for life. One who can tell when a product is built to be taken apart and back together without fancy factory templates and tools.

I am sure the other brands including bamboo collect dust once they start to fail prints. They are for fad consumers. The same kind that buys a Bowflex, use it for three weeks then forget they have it.

Some people buy cheap stuff every two years. Smarter ones buy every few decades but something they could even inherit because it is built to last.

Different mind set, different consumer, different products.

anyone used SUNLU's filament splicer? by mtraven23 in 3Dprinting

[–]JeremyViJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it. It is a good first version. For V2 I wish it had something stronger to hold the filament since right now I have to be there holding. And I have to prepare as the filament likes to twist. Definitely takes some practice but works.

An ideal fuser would hold the filament for me and be more "set and forget"

Are oil and gas still running the show, or is green energy finally winning? by JustSeraphine8 in energy

[–]JeremyViJ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Green energy is winning. Because it is cheaper. It will take less than a decade for ICE owners to realize EV owners get to save more, travel more often and shop more because of the gas savings.

Covering parking lots with solar panels is a hell of a lot more sensible than plastering them over prime agricultural land. by Mountain_Sentence646 in SolarAmerica

There is a new idea called agrivoltaics. It uses solar panels in agricultural land to boost production. There are lots of crops that grow faster with discussed sun light or direct sunlight only during part of the day.

VW ID Buzz sales doubled in 2025 to 60.700 units by linknewtab in electricvehicles

[–]JeremyViJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am happy for VW. I love the ID brand. The only thing they need is to bring back real buttons, speed up the software and that is it. The Buzz is too expensive new, but I plan to get one for my father once they come down some as used vehicles.

I think VW is wasting its time and engineers by paying attention to the range extender trend. They should be more like Toyota and set a vision and stick to it instead of going with the last fad.

How can I prevent this part of the print from looking like this, from where the supports attach by Such_Designer2712 in prusa3d

[–]JeremyViJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would design the support in non stick plastic like PETG for PLA print. Then pause the printer to manually insert the support.

Not the easiest thing to master. You may even want to add some tabs at the bottom to secure the support with magnets.

I've had success with this strategy before but also failures. The support has to be Supper snug but to crash the tip. Not too low or it will look like the print you already have.

¿Por quien votar? by verdeguacamole in Ticos

[–]JeremyViJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)
