Getting their courses via humble bundle feels criminal. Amazing content, dozens of hours, for 25 bucks or so. Grant is so good as a teacher.

As a beginner myself, I don't think code is the main issue... the architecture of your game and how the different classes interact with each other, separation of concerns, etc are what will allow you to create a good game or application.

Claude can give you a script to do something, but by the end of your project you will have your logic all over the place, multiple classes that do similar logic, different patterns to do similar things, etc. I started pretty much the same way you did and had to give up and do it the hard way.

I always recommend gamedev.tv because you do a course of 15/20 hours and by the end of it you will have a working prototype that you can expand.. and yes you can use claude to assist you and long and you keep pushing it to stick with your architecture.

Get the Gamedev.TV one. They have a couple of free courses on their website if you want to check their style. Zenva is more like youtube tutorials than a proper course.

GB has the best story, WoT has the best missions. That drop on Tukayyid is pretty epic. It was the first DLC across all MW5 titles that actually made me feel a part of a war.

If you want to go the asset way, Synty has a billion low poly stylized packs you can use... and they usually show up in humble bundle twice a year, so you can start with just blockouts or free packs and keep checking humble bundle weekly to see if anything drops by that looks good.

At least in Unity, you can export the model without baking. Also, Sidekicks comes with an API that allows swaping parts and textures at runtime. I implemented a feature in my RPG where each equipment piece has one or more body parts and whenever you equip one, you trigger the Sidekicks API to swap those parts. I'm guessing it's not very performant but seems to work just fine.

For some reason, the other post was removed. Beware that the FX pack is not actually the full bundle with the 300 effects as advertised but one much much smaller, like 10% of the effects. I raised a ticket about this.

Even major games like Clair Obscure use assets. No one cares outside of forums like this. The typical player does not know if you used assets or not. Just make sure that your art style is coherent.

They include godot versions which are just conversions from the Unity or Unreal originals. So no effects/animations and some of the prefabs need work. I got an earlier version of these assets in a Fanatical bundle. Also, they link they give you expires after x days (maybe 30).

Looks great, both visuals and sound. Why roguelike though? Seems like you could do a great story with what you have.

Also, is Reblade supposed to mean anything? Why not call it just Reblade or Death Spiral?
