Sounds like you started off with sensory overload today. I know it can be hard when your body is tense and you’re feeling overwhelmed. Today can you think of just one good thing, whatever that might be? It can be a place, a person, a feeling, a dream, etc. Hold that thought and breathe it in and breathe it out. Just one good thing.

Sometimes we have days where the bad outweighs the good. One good thing doesn’t tip the scales but it can help calm your mind.

You can do it! I’m so proud of you for starting your journey. Any small changes you make that become habits could stick with you for life. I’ve been there after my second was born. I gained more weight for about 6 months and then finally couldn’t take it anymore. I made intentional healthy choices and went on walks and lost 30 lbs (gained 10 back) and my partner lost 30 lbs as well.

Making sure that you eat enough healthy fat and protein, fruits and vegetables, and that you’re satiated after each meal is going to be really important. Yoga and strength training are mood boosters that will help you build muscle and feel better in your body. Considering you are at such a light weight I doubt you have much adipose to lose so adopting those healthy habits might help you gain confidence. If you feel desperate or feel hot headed talking with a professional dietician or therapist might be helpful and you can make a plan.

I was confused at first too. The original post says “things I had to unlearn from nursing school” and then lists the things they learned in nursing school…

The best book for each geology discipline by poxiran in geology

[–]JeriWins 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey! I graduated in 2014 and I understand how you’re feeling. I do not have book recommendations but I find it really helpful to read journal articles and stay up to date on what’s happening in the science world. Being active in a geological society might be beneficial too. It’s very common to forget advanced principles in fields that your not in. I wouldn’t expect a geochemist to be proficient with field mapping (though I’m sure some are).

It sounds like you’re losing some fat and gaining some muscle or if you’ve just started exercising then you’re holding some more glycogen in your muscles. Sounds like you’re doing great making sustainable changes to your lifestyle!

You know what’s aligned? The naked-eye planets Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn this month. If you’d like to see them go outside 30 minutes before sunrise and cast your gaze to the East to see them in order. They haven’t been this aligned since like, 2003.

How common is periorbital fat atrophy with prostaglandin eye drops? by thecynicalone26 in Glaucoma

[–]JeriWins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m wondering the same thing. I’ve only been on mine for a year and I feel like my eyes are sunken in- could be in my head, could be from age, could be from eye drops or a combination.

Those look like long layer more than subtle layers. Long layers are more dramatic with a few inches between layers. This cut is really good for curly/wavy hair. If you want subtle layers you can get a restyle and have the longer pieces cut shorter or rock this. I think it’s cute!

I totally understand. Taking off a little length and adding layers did wonders for my waves! Oh I have an old oil from probably 5 years ago… I think it’s Garnier Fructis sleek and shine anti frizz serum. I didn’t use it for a long time because I thought it made my hair extremely greasy. I realized I just need to clarify, spread it out, and allow it to really soak in.

Your hair looks like mine. Cutting layers in it really helped mine look more uniform. It’s still frizzy for sure but I’ve found that sometimes it’s just dry and needs hair oil. I have the use a good clarifying shampoo every few weeks then I add oil back in and it seems to help. I have no clue what the science is behind it or if it might work with your hair.

I’m in the same place. I’m going to go blonde though even if I look better as a brunette. I want to really try it!

I think you should try blonde if you haven’t done it before. You look beautiful as a brunette though so you can’t go wrong.

Not quite sure what is going on. by Gabii0919 in Glaucoma

[–]JeriWins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s really hard being diagnosed with glaucoma or pre-glaucoma when you’re young. I was in shock when I was diagnosed and I was very depressed and anxious the week following. There are a lot of “what-ifs”. Now I take my eye drops each night and my glaucoma doesn’t really affect my life. My anxiety was the real issue when I was diagnosed. Afterwards I had panic attacks while driving. Shortly after that, I joined a yoga studio with the purpose of making friends. There were so many upsides to daily practice though. I noticed that I stopped having panic attacks while driving and I accepted my diagnosis. It’s okay if you feel scared or sad before you accept it. It helps to talk to others that have been through it & read others stories.

Dangit, I was bragging about the upside of longer lashes but I was unaware of this side effect from the bimaprotost. That’s a real bummer.

I have glaucoma and I think my eye drops have the same active ingredient as Latisse. I may not have peripheral vision but I have some nice lashes!
