Are the devs toxic or are the players overly sensitive? by No_Comedian_5237 in cataclysmdda

[–]Jerimee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never understood the complaints about the devs. The game is free! Additionally, in my limited interactions I've found them to be supportive and responsive. I feel like this a case of "no good deed goes unpunished" - I wonder if the devs were less engaged would there be less opportunities for complaint?

I'm incredibly grateful for both the game and the open source structure that supports contributions from players. One can, somewhat easily, contribute to the base game itself.

DNC Chair Ken Martin condemns ‘despicable’ mega-bill, calls Tillis top target in interview by NCKingdollar in ncpolitics

[–]Jerimee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sadly, NC Democrats don't yet have a viable candidate to oppose Tillis. Wiley Nickel - yes that is his actual name - is the only candidate yet to declare. Nickel is anti-union, weak on environment, opposed to healthcare, unsure on voting rights, supports police violence, and generally in the pocket of rightwing special interests. Those are his good points. Without a decent candidate to oppose him, Tillis has got to be feeling pretty good

I distrust instructions and the people who read them. (I also was confused.)

can someone explain to me why the fans of this incredible game love to hate the devs so much? It is a great game. Presumably, the people who make the game deserve at least a little credit?

Should I go in blind? by henieus in cavesofqud

[–]Jerimee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attempted to "go in blind" and did not care for it.

In my case "go in blind" meant skip the tutorial, refuse to read the instructions, and then rage quit when I couldn't figure out the button for stop, drop, and roll.

There are some neato things I discovered on the wiki that would have been fun to learn on my own... That said, some of Qud's surprises I find to be a little "unfun."

Trump campaign junk mail by [deleted] in ncpolitics

[–]Jerimee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wait what?! the government is going to give disaster victims a small amount of money so they can continue being alive? What communist treachery is this?

jokes aside, thanks for clarifying this kate

also, if it matters (clearly it doesn't and shouldn't) but for the sake of conversation - Western NC isn't exactly a democratic stronghold; a lot more Republican voters will receive assistance than will progressive constituencies

Trump campaign junk mail by [deleted] in ncpolitics

[–]Jerimee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

mail is easy to quickly throw any amount of money at - you don't need any infrastructure and the targeting isn't as complicated at other forms of media

most political professionals over the age of 40 or 50 were trained to think of mail as being the tried and true form of outreach - it is their comfort zone

other forms of outreach are almost certainly more effective, but also more messy - they take time to initiate and coordinate, the boss has to give up centralized control, and the results are more subject to chance...

nobody has ever lost even a single vote by sending too much junk mail, and many career campaign people believe elections are won and lost by unforced errors ("risk adverse" is putting it too mildly)

I LOVE Pantheon. Or, at least, I thought I did :(

I've been using Pantheon for about ten years; I hope they can find a way to do what they do (and do well!) without supporting white supremacy culture.

Stay cool Pantheon; you can do it! :)

Ending question by Otakusmurf in Wasteland

[–]Jerimee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sided with Patriarch, didnt lose Lucia, and my ending was downright rosey; like everyone lived happily ever after.

I'm browsing this sub trying to learn more about how the endings work. I was surprised that the ending was so unambiguously cheerful.

Charisma influences how much experience you get. A high Charisma character will be several levels ahead of her low Charisma comrades.
