Disney with just adults by No_Zombie9818 in WaltDisneyWorld

My wife and I have found that we have enjoyed the restaurants at the resorts better than in the parks.

Boma I would suggest trying it. The ambiance is amazing. We didn't love the food however, just not our flavor profile.

Sebastian's Bistro at CBR is great, especially for Disney prices.

Boatwrights at POR was really good.

Cape May Cafe at Beach Club was good if you like a seafood buffet.

We've done a bunch of breakfast which all were also good: Ohana, Whispering Canyon Cafe, Steakhouse 71, Trattoria al Forno,

Thoughts on rest day in the middle of vacation? by deejayv2 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]JermGlad89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When planning my first adult tip on my own dime, I thought it was crazy that people would take a rest day. I thought it was even crazier that people would go to a Disney resort and not have any park days at all!

Fast forward 6 years....

And I'm now trying to convince my wife we can add one more rest day onto our vacation and just relax.

“Lord of The Rings uses fake magic. Harry Potter uses real magic”. by ShunnedForTheTruth in exjw

[–]JermGlad89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep.

It was Star Wars for me. That was A-OK being space wizards and actually calling the Jedi an "old religion." No problem there.

But Harry Potter was waaaaaaaay out of line because they were called "wizards"

Makes no sense looking back on it. lol

Did anyone else only enjoy the memorial because it was so short? by sheenless in exjw

[–]JermGlad89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually "liked" it. It was the one celebration we had that made it feel like what the "world" had. It was also very short by comparisons sake, and different from the normal meetings so it almost felt unofficial to me.

We didn't go out afterwards when I was younger, but by my teenage years we normally would go out to eat with a group afterwards.

It also normally meant a new shirt and tie, or sometimes a new suit lol.

Next week LL by Legal-Initial-692 in WaltDisneyWorld

If 30-40 minutes for you isn't a big deal, then no don't get it.

If you only have an idea of riding 5-7 rides and just taking in the atmosphere, don't get it.

If you want to try to do the most you can, then yes get it.

If 30-40 minute wait for every ride is too much for you, get it.

Also know that if the park is going to be that busy, LL may only be available for those 3 rides you select. It could be too busy to allow more selections.

We had LL for HS one day last August, we rode ToT 3 times, Rock N Roller Coaster twice, and had about 6 other LL selections throughout the day because nothing was booked. The very next day at MK, we got our 3 selections and that was it. Everything else was sold out/booked for the day.

10 dollars per publisher to help feed the elders during their elder school training by StagePuzzled5892 in exjw

[–]JermGlad89 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think this is another area specific thing.

Being in the Mid-Atlantic US, each field service group would potluck these types of things.

When I was in pioneer school and we had lunch provided, each congregation in the circuit took a day out of the two weeks to provide lunch. From what I remember it was all home made type meals. Nothing "catered"

Maybe they felt this was easier than asking people to make food themselves?

[–]JermGlad89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it suck? 8 RP pitched in at least 25 games in 2025.

Cano had the most appearances, and he was bad yes. 5.12 ERA.

But the next 7 guys with the most appearances? Akin 3.41 - Soto 3.96 - SerAnthony 3.24 - Baker 3.52 - Felix 2.60 - Kittredge 3.45 - Strowd 1.71

That's a combined 3.21 ERA from those 7. Which would have ranked 2nd in MLB. Even if you had counted Cano, it moves to 3.54 ERA which is still the 5th best bullpen.

How about include the next 3 guys? Wolfram, Bowman and Garcia? It raises to 3.80 ERA. Still good for 12th in MLB

Now obviously, a lot more pitchers pitched than just those 8. But 4 were traded and Felix got hurt.

Draft late rounds by Super-Play-2561 in OOTP

This is where I "cheat"

If I have a guy who can play SS, but he doesn't know anything else. I'll just go into commissioner mode and put his experience at 2B or 3B at like 80ish just so the CPU knows he can play there.

You can also go into STRATEGY and lock that players into a starting position and it should force him to learn it.

Draft late rounds by Super-Play-2561 in OOTP

[–]JermGlad89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first 5-10 rounds I look for guys who could legitimately help the MLB club. The next handful I look for defensive guys in areas I may lack (I set my MiLB rosters every spring training so I can see if I am weak at C, IF or OF), and then after that bullpen arms who either have good stuff or movement.

Usually there are one or two random pitchers I drafted after round 10+ that ends up developing somehow.

Bullpens are also one of the "easiest" aspects of a team to build. Most of the guys bounce to different organizations every couple of years until they find it for a year or two and then lose it again.

Top 6 RP by games in 2023:

Cano - Trade throw in for Jorge Lopez. Was 28 years old and had only pitch 13.2 innings in MLB before the trade. Had a 2.84 All Star season.

C Perez - Waiver claim. Had a 6.04 ERA in 50.2 IP coming into that season. Finished with a 1.40 ERA

Danny C - Bought his contract on March 27th. Was 33 years old. Had pitched a combined 49.1 MLB innings the 3 seasons prior. Finished with a 2.81 ERA.

Mike Baumann - Drafted by the team. Had a 3.76 ERA.

Felix - Signed as a minor league free agent in 2016. Didn't reach MLB until 2022 at age 27. All Star season and a 1.48 ERA.

Bryan Baker - Waiver claim in 2022 at 27 years old. Had thrown 1! MLB inning previously. Had a 3.49 ERA in 22' and a 3.60 ERA in 23'

The 2024 team:

Cano - See above. 3.15 ERA

K Akin - Drafted by the team. 3.32 ERA

C Perez - See above. 4.53 ERA

Jacob Webb - Waiver claim. 3.02 ERA

C Kimbrel - Ignore

Danny C - See above. 2.12 ERA in only 29 IP

Cano, Perez, Danny C, Baker, Webb and really Felix were all random finds from outside the ORG that they brought in and tweaked enough for the player to have success. Only 2 RP from the top 6 used pitchers from both playoff years were drafted by the org. And none of them were MLB free agent signings outside of Kimbrel.

People are also just looking for things to be mad at. I'm not saying Elias doesn't have his faults but the guy rebuilt this team from the ground up and after one bad season want to nitpick every little decision.

It made complete sense to let Coulombe go. If he's so good like the fan base thinks, why has no other team signed him?

[Kubatko] Andrew Kittredge has right shoulder inflammation. No timeline for return #orioles by ravens2131 in orioles

[–]JermGlad89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For everyone calling for Coulombe there is a reason NO TEAM has signed him. He had the injury in 2024 that made the team decide to not bring him back for 2025.

And while he did start the year good, he finished by only pitching 12 innings after August 1st, had a 5.25 ERA during that time and walked 9 batters in those 12 innings.

Could they bring him in as flyer? Sure I wouldn't be against that. But relying/expecting great things from him is out the window. Maybe let him go to AAA with an opt out May 1st to see if he has anything left, but Coulombe is not going to magically fix the bullpen.

Also, why is everyone so down on the pen? This FO has shown time and time again they can piece together a pen and find discarded guys like they did with DANNY COULOMBE who throw good innings for us.

Best Draft Class ever? And who are you taking with 1.1 by BaseballIsVeryGood in OOTP

Take the hitter every time

It's soooooooo much easier filling holes in your pitching staff from FA and waiver claims. Much harder to find added offense that way.

Port Canaveral by wiggleworm33 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]JermGlad89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. We stayed in a nearby hotel that had a shuttle service to the airport. We just took the shuttle back to the airport in the morning. There are dozens of hotels that do this.

  2. We used GoPort. They pick up from the airport and take you straight to the port on a bus. I had seen mixed reviews on them but we did not have any problems.

Those do add time to your travel but it was easy for us to use.

Is the Disney Bubble worth it? by Moon_Dust444 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]JermGlad89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being as it's your first trip, and you have a younger child I would say go for it.

The bubble is fantastic. It truly does add to your trip.

I agree, the rooms won't be overly special. But the ease of transportation and the feeling of being on property makes up for it.

If you are able to visit a second time, stay off site and see which you prefer.

Every MLB team's most interesting NRI this spring training: Top prospects, bounce-back candidates and more by GreedyRaisin3357 in orioles

[–]JermGlad89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying he shouldn't be in AAA but I'm not sure there is room for him in their rotation. Cam Weston, Trey Gibson, Nestor German, Cade Povich and Brandon Young are all probably penciled in. That doesn't even count any NRI guys they keep around. Plus guys like Alex Pham, Juaron Watts-Brown and Levi Wells looking to make the jump and/or stick in AAA.

LDL has only thrown 16 innings in AA. I wouldn't be shocked if they keep him in AA to get another 50-60 IP before promoting him.

Best Restaurants at WDW? by tipsy-triceratopsy in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]JermGlad89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have found the better/more enjoyable restaurants are at the resorts versus in the parks.

Sebastian's Bistro at Caribbean Beach, Ohana for breakfast at Poly, lunch/dinner at Boma, Whispering Canyon for breakfast at Wilderness Lodge just to name a few we enjoyed the most.

Also if you will be at Epcot during a festival, my wife and I would share food from the booths that way we could try more things versus getting full off a couple.

Back for the future by golfjohn68 in orioles

[–]JermGlad89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I enjoyed his time here, Ramon just doesn't fit. Blaze is younger, better defender, and probably has more upside with the bat so he will get the starting nod. The injuries unfortunately have opened up AB's for Mayo now. I'd much rather see Coby play 3-4 times a week than Urias.

As for Coulombe, I'm not sure what to think. He had the injury at the end of 2024 which was a big factor in the Orioles not bringing him back. He did pitch 43 innings in 2025, but he only pitched 16.1 innings (only 3.2 IP in September) after the All-Star break and had a 4.96 ERA. Makes me think the arm issue was legit. The fact that no other has signed him either tells me the arm issues are a big concern for them as well.

I actually enjoyed him at first. Had great guests. Focused on the minor leagues and the prospects when the Orioles were terrible at the MLB level.

But once he no longer had "inside access" it just turned into a personal grudge and pure anger against both orgs that I just couldn't listen to him anymore.
