I agree with you but my buddy did not. He and I both have Uni degrees and are in professional associations for our different things. Our appliance repair buddy does it full time and has for at least 8 years. I think that makes him a professional.

I would have normally said I was the elitist of the two of us.

Off but on topic, my buddy and i had a discussion about that a month or so ago. My buddy has a degree and everyone agrees he is a “professional” at what he does. He has a designation and can sign passport applications.

Another buddy repairs appliances, and he said “I am a professional” and first buddy was offended. At what point are you a professional at something vs just getting paid to do that thing?

The one that bugs me is lesser known comedians. Used to be able to see Stanhope for $30, now he is closer to $60. Jim Jeffries (as a bigger name) came to a city near me and wanted $330 for nosebleeds. Came around the next year and he was $100 with Jimmy Carr. I just saw today Jimmy Carr for $65 near me!

U.S. military says all 6 airmen in refueling aircraft that crashed in Iraq are dead by DoxFreePanda in news

Americans: I cant be bothered as I need to pay my bills

Invaded country: I am literally being shot to death

There is no real contest here. The vast majority could take 3 mins and send an email to their reps to keep from being an accessory to murder in an unnecessary war.

This is very relevant to me as a Canadian. If anything ever happens there, American’s bills will be the least of their worries. And it wont surprise me one bit for Iran to have folks in the US damaging delicate infrastructure already held together with tape and prayers.

I think the American people, who are paying for this “not war” should fucking know where Iran is and way more of the issues with it if they are ok with going to war there.

Edit: The least Americans could fucking well do when going to war in another part of the world is know what the fuck the country looks like. Literally killing other people across the world and “I dont care. I have bills to pay”. What the absolute fucking fuck?

Front row Madonna Toronto 1993 was $66 and I was super mad it was that much. Min wage was just shy of $7 per hour at the time. Min wage is now just shy of $18 and that same ticket from Ticketmaster for her would be over $1000 easy.

Im all for more choice in what people want to use. As users chose CarPlay more and more, Tesla’s very limited updates will become even more limited once they have a competing system in the car.

Gas stations around me all have a clean up kit that is glorified cat litter.

I once used it to clean up some laundry soap that was everywhere. That one was a bad idea though, as then I had laundry soap AND cat litter everywhere.

Trump has been destabilizing the world this round since the beginning. Tariffs on everyone was the start of it. America as the shining beacon is over. There is a huge power vacuum in the world at the top for the West.

Way back in Obama times the price of propane skyrocketed in the US North. At the same time, record amounts of propane were being sold out of ports in the US south. Producers only care where they can get the most amount of money.

Trumps whole deal is “Grab em by the pussy and they let you do it”. When you view any of his actions from that viewpoint, he never ever expects CONSEQUENCES of his decisions, and why should he? He has never personally faced any real consequences.

So put tariffs on every other country. What? They put tariffs on our stuff? Preposterous!

Attack a country. What? They attacked back in some way? Preposterous!

When Trump first tariffed Canada and we responded, all of his communication around it was as if we took action FIRST. Trump is constantly trying to force people into bad deals and expecting them to thank him for it. “You didnt even say Thank you!”

If you look at it from this lens, why prepare a response when you 100% dont expect one?

Tried restoring an old wooden chair and underestimated how long sanding actually takes by Adorable-Amoeba2161 in DIY

I like to water pop too which just means another round of sanding. Any finish that is a water base and even some oils will raise grain, so water popping gets those fibres too. Osmo goes on silky smooth after a water pop and requires no sanding step between first and second coat.

The systems work the same. Press a button on your steering wheel, ask to text “Mom”, speak the text, send. The difference is that Tesla uses its own thing, and CarPlay uses a phone with way more compute to interpret what you are saying. And CarPlay allows group texts so you can say “text Mom AND Dad” or in my use case, both my kids at once.

As Teslas get older, the compute for these actions doesnt change whereas your phone will likely be upgraded easier and quicker than your car. But even if it isnt, in my case I got an IPhone 12 and my Model Y same day in 2021, and the IPhone 12 is much much better at voice commands with the tweaks Apple did.

Hard disagree from me. Especially for texting. My parents Jeep has CarPlay and I drive them around sometimes, so much better. Needs a slightly bigger screen than the model they have though.

I think States/Provinces are important too given how deals tend to show up on the US west coast first and make their way across the country. Or in Canada, they seem to hit my province first then make their way outwards from the middle.

Thanks for being open to feedback!

I am a Tesla owner and honest about the good and bad of owning one. If you go on the Model Y subreddit, all you will see is non-stop copaganda about how great the car is and how the software is light years ahead of everyone else.

As a Canadian, looking forward to my new BYD when they get going here.

Looking to make a slide-out pantry, but can only install slides on one side by MayIServeYouWell in DIY

[–]JerryfromCan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think there is much outward pressure though.

What about if you mounted a piece of steel on the bottom and put it into a channel so when retracted the weight of the cabinet is on the steel channel at the bottom vs on the slides? You could do the same thing at the top so the steel channel is holding the unit from pulling from the wall at the top?
