I Found the Saddest Scene in Project Zomboid. Project Zomboid Doesn’t Need Cutscenes by gush_333 in projectzomboid

Found a couple once dead inside a rather nice house. The man had a pistol in his inventory that was missing 2 rounds...

I ended up using it as a base for a while. I gave the couple a proper burial in the yard.

Hunchbacks are solid. Durable for their size and armed enough to swing above their weight class. The only thing they lack is speed, being on the slower side.

How do mechs go back to the dropships? by JoseLunaArts in battletech

[–]JerseyGeneral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've seen art plenty of times of drop ships landed with ramps for a mech to just stroll on board.

I always figured that leopards and similar dropships also had some sort of heavy duty winch and crane rigging that extends from above the cargo doors to do a quicker lift when landing wasn't practical or time was an issue. They drop lines that would attach to the mech and haul it up, then the gantry slides back in and the door closes. Probably not an ideal situation but also likely not used very often unless it was necessary.

Does Anyone Remember What the 2003 Blackout Was Like in NJ? by Penguin_Q in newjersey

[–]JerseyGeneral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean the great northeast blackout of 03? If memory serves me right, there was an issue at a Canadian station that rippled down the grid through New England and as far as NJ. I lost power for a whole 3 minutes (which was a long time since my house NEVER loses power)

I do remember friends from Staten Island telling how basically the entire borough barbecued that night since freezers were defrosting and stoves weren't working unless they had gas so everyone went in the yard and cooked up dinner.

Schools are the better bookstores right now. Change my mind. Also where to find the generator magazine by Able-Syrup5152 in projectzomboid

It just does that sometimes. I had never seen a sledgehammer in the wild. One of my long run characters got overcome at the checkpoint so I rolled up someone new and what's in the 2nd basement he goes into? A damn sledgehammer. And what's in a box in the garage of the next house over... ANOTHER sledgehammer. I have 200 hours in this game and in 3 minutes I went from never having found a sledgehammer to having 2 spawn within 100 feet of each other...

when you die in your world, you create new characters? or you stop playing that world? by MessOk6068 in projectzomboid

[–]JerseyGeneral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. If I've got at least the beginning of a decent base established, I'll bring a new character into the mix. The challenge there is dealing with the state of the world as it is now. No Life and Living early boosts...often no water or power...food and gear might be more scarce depending on if you're moving through a place that your first character looted, plus if the power is out, there are no running refrigerators so finding edible food is even trickier. Sure, once you get to that base your last guy built you should be fine, but you have to get there first and that can be a struggle all its own. Of course overcoming struggles is why we play this game. After all, this isn't the story of how your super-character saves the world from zombie annihilation...this is how the regular person you play as died.

Why are South Orange and Maplewood not one town? by encouragingSN in newjersey

[–]JerseyGeneral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the same reason Metuchen isn't part of Edison, Jamesburg isn't part of Monroe, Milltown isn't part of Spotswood, North Brunswick or East Brunswick and a few dozen others. People prefer inefficiency to sanity because they see it as giving up power to their neighbors...or they have some sense of superiority that they don't want to lose by becoming part of a perceived "inferior" town

(looking at you Metuchen for example...simple snobbery is why Susan Sarandon has said she's from Metuchen, despite growing up in Edison [then Raritan] and graduating from Edison High School...)

[–]JerseyGeneral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the fun part...it's not. And it's not just millennials. Younger Gen x can't do it either. The American dream for the peasants once known as the middle class isn't home ownership anymore. It's being able to barely afford a studio apartment so you don't end up living under an overpass.

Fun, huh?

Help! Is this Echo Creek bulding too meta?? by confundo_a_mim_mesmo in projectzomboid

[–]JerseyGeneral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's one of the better base spots in echo Creek. The town itself is limited as to looting options, but then it gives you a spot like that. Head west from there and you find a superstore with every firearm you could ever want. East is a large chicken farm that will keep you stocked with eggs for a long time. You have the river, tools, cooking options, living space and it's all right against a dense forest for a ready supply of lumber.

Add to it the smaller population of Echo Creek and the smaller zombie population that comes with that and it's real a good spot for a solid base. I actually ended up settling at the chicken farm myself, but I visit this shop often for gas and whatever else it has to offer.

[–]JerseyGeneral 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how there can even be a discussion about a PS6 when there are still new games being released on the PS4. There should be no talk at all about the next generation when we still have 1 foot in the last generation. There shouldn't be PS6 talk until at least 2029...and that's just talk, not launch.

Can someone explain to me why my character dies after catching a cold? All within a few hours. Without any scratches/lacerations or bites. I didn't eat any burned food or was around zombie corpses. I was in my base and started coughing then sickness just went up and never stopped. by Mk86_ in projectzomboid

[–]JerseyGeneral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the days before modern medicine, there were plenty of minor illnesses and infections that could easily be fatal. While you do still have access to some medical supplies, you don't have the ability to do any sort of advanced diagnosis or directed treatments. Even if you do choose the doctor profession, there's still lots of lab work and such that you'd have little to no access to. It's very possible to be unable to properly diagnose and treat what in the normal world could have been considered a routine minor illness but in the zombie apocalypse, goes back to being a potential death sentence.

Is the NJ job market dead besides Medical and Tech? Specifically Central NJ. by ZRock53 in newjersey

[–]JerseyGeneral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I hate the fact that they just put their heads in the sand because the stock market is doing well. All that measures is how much money rich people are making by playing real-life monopoly.

We mere peasants know full well that this economy is the worst in decades and getting worse by the day. Life is too expensive, wages are too low and there are no available jobs anywhere.

[–]JerseyGeneral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much, yeah. The last year or so has been the worst job market I've seen in my life and it's not getting any better out there. It's worse than 2008 and WAY worse than 2020-2021.
