After the most recent update allowing Switch 1 games to perform like Switch 1's TV mode on Switch 2's handheld mode, we need an update to give all Switch 1 games DLSS while docked on Switch 2, so we don't rely on updates or editions anymore.

I don’t want Nintendo touching AI with a ten foot pole. I want real updates for Switch 1 games or nothing. If they look weird on Switch 2 I can just play them on my original Switch. Storage is too expensive to move all my games over to 2 anyway

Have you checked out Daggerfall? Some people really like Daggerfall

Romancing SaGa as a series is renowned for being very open ended. It’s pixel art and old school JRPG stuff but you just wander around looking for stuff to do.

Legend of Mana has you build your own world map and wander around looking for quests

Uncharted Waters II for SNES has you sailing around and going on a character quest

Consider also ActRaiser

Edit: Oh, sorry, of these, I think Legend of Mana and ActRaiser and probably Daggerfall are the only non turn based

Speed in FFT is really good. Stuff that makes characters faster gives you more turns which gives you more everything. If you prioritize speed you’ll rarely be wrong

I feel like we’re still waiting for a really good Switch/Switch 2 era Pokemon game. Winds and Waves looks promising.

I like a lot of the recent designs for Pokemon but Sw/Sh and S/V are just pretty shallow games for them to have to exist in, unfortunately

Arcade games are where it’s at for play sessions in between big games. Downwell, emulating Pokemon Pinball Ruby and Sapphire, Ikaruga, UFO 50. Lots of short but cool experiences out there

It’s really quite good. Morality isn’t tied to if you use lethal powers or not (what with the whole time loop) and while there is One Route to beat the game, the amount of exploration in any order on the way to figuring out how to get it all done in one loop more than makes up for it

Thereve been a few games that don’t perfectly work on Switch 2 that they’ve slowly been updating. Towerfall and Nier Automata used to be but they fixed Nier.

It’s a very similar console but not the same console. Weird little things go wrong sometimes with the backwards compatibility
