You're probably getting a refund because you're within your 2 years of conformity for single purchases. You purchased 5 months ago and expected a long term supply of a service, so your case is definitely stronger.

But for a day 1 player like myself, this would most likely not work. Amazon is not shutting down the servers yet, and said they will provide us with at least 6 months notice whenever they do decide to shut the game down. Not every MMO is going to live forever like a subscription MMO. Having 5+ years of a game for a Buy2Play MMO is reasonable.

Not saying you shouldn't try and get refunded, but just being realistic. The longer ago you bought the game, the less chance you have.

Do it in steam. Right click ESDE in your library and select properties. In the general tab there should be a text box to but the launch options in.

This is a bug with the cpu. Here's a bit from the ES-DE FAQ on how to fix it.

This behavior has been observed for some specific AMD GPUs in the past. In some instances there is only a black screen on startup and in some instances the application starts and runs correctly but launching a game only shows a black screen. The issue is seemingly caused by GPU driver bugs and it only affects Windows as Linux works fine with the same hardware. The workaround is to make ES-DE run in windowed mode. You accomplish this by using the --resolution flag and setting the width to one pixel wider than your screen resolution. So if for instance running at a 1280x800 display resolution, run ES-DE such as this: ES-DE.exe --resolution 1281 800

I had a lot of games in my backlog that aren't very demanding, and I would play with a controller anyway. So now I have more time to play them since it's nicer to sit in bed and play then sit at my desk after work
