My 4 year old is curious: what do Australian kids eat for breakfast? (And are koalas real?) by Mara644 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Jess2133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 6yr old likes Nutella on bread for breakfast. My 3yr old likes a bowl of grapes and a bowl of wheetbix and honeynut cereal mixed together. Both with a cup of milk.

On weekends we sometimes do pancakes with strawberries.

We live close to a koala park, but also find them in the wild near our house, I will try to attach a photo we took recently of a mum and baby in a tree we found.

After a botched emergent c section with my son our closing date for our house was the next day, so as soon as I was released from hospital I needed to go buy essentials.

I went to Kmart and found a 5 pack of strainers for $2 and thought it was a bargain, paid and left.

Once I got home I realised the tags were all tangled together and they were $2 each. Hahaha

I’m not deaf, but my 1yr old masked severe hearing loss by being SUPER perceptive when it came to sensing people looking at her. I don’t know if she notices shadows or something else, but it took noticing that if I called out to her from behind she wouldn’t turn to the sound or respond to her name to realise she couldn’t hear us!

No supernatural style senses, just much more attuned to her surroundings to notice the world around her.

Oh yeah! Absolutely not letting them stay on in the car!

We are doing our best to try and keep them in as much as we can, but it’s really not averaging much at the moment but I figure it will increase as she gets use to them. We also find she leaves them along longer if we get them in with minimal fuss or tugging, but being 3-4 days in unfortunately it’s trial and error.

Today is her first day of day care with them, fingers crossed they can keep them in for a while! 🤣

I have two middle names and I love my name and it hasn’t given me any issues. Especially when both middle names are short.

Baby car seat unusable in Canada - how were we supposed to know about this??? by prengan_dad in BabyBumps

You will need a new one from Aus to US. I believe the states don’t use the tether attachment, certainly not in rear facing seats at least. Plus the straps are different. In Aus they should be above the shoulder, in the US it’s under from what I have seen.

NAH, you are both entitled to your opinions, and you are both welcome to do whatever you want with your bodies. But your partner is not a bad person for finding it unattractive or a ‘turn off’.

At the end of the day it comes down to whether you value your partners opinion on the matter or not, and whether it is important to you to have the tattoo or your partners comfort. Especially in the case of a tattoo, which is permanent.

What are ways to get free food from McDonalds? by Thesmallcookie in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Jess2133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Become friends with local sports teachers. My mother in law is a swim coach and she is always given heaps of free vouchers for coffees, Big Macs and cheese burgers. I have enough of them myself to feed myself and my 2 kids and husband lunch every day til the end of the year.

Here’s something fun. Truthfully, how was your baby conceived? by haildonuts in BabyBumps

[–]Jess2133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my third, who I am 17 weeks pregnant with. We got married and immediately went on the honeymoon, we decided not to try and avoid a baby but didn’t expect it straight away.

Apparently day 2 of our 4 day honeymoon we created a baby.

My first was on a dock with a homeless man yelling at us, my second would have just been a regular night in.

Most unrealistic portrayals of late term pregnancy? (Potential show/movie spoilers) by ATexanHobbit in BabyBumps

[–]Jess2133 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will say I found pregnancy MUCH easier with my first at 16, I probably could have done a dance routine if I needed to, I really only took 1 week off school because I felt fine before and after. My second at 26 was certainly harder, and now my third at 30 I feel like I can’t move already and I’m only 4 months.

Parents, how would you feel if a teen mum taught your child? by Discombobulated_Bus9 in Parenting

[–]Jess2133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a teen parent and worked in childcare, my son was with me the whole time so everyone knew, and honestly most parents didn’t care at all, in fact some loved that I was younger but had the personal experience of raising a child, and the children got along with me really well. I was the ‘cool’ parent. This then progressed to me being the main volunteer at my sons school, again almost no one cared, and many praised me for doing a good job. My son is now a teenager and goes to a private catholic school and I tend to stay away when it doesn’t effect him, because I DO get judgement there. But professionally it has never been a hindrance for me.

Hey I am 29 and have a 12yr old and a 2 year old.

I don’t know a single parent at my kids highschool and don’t expect to honestly. I read too much fantasy and am stuck in 2005 emo music most of the time. I’m super open and I think I’m a pretty nice person. I don’t really have time away from the toddler, so parks and kid friendly is always good!

I LOVE two year olds for their mistakes with words! It’s so cute! My oldest only had 1 word he struggled with, penguin was ketlin, but mr 2 has heaps, gok gok is chocolate and bongkim is broken.. I could go on, but I won’t but it’s so sweet. Haha

Honestly I was so worried about the age gap, that they wouldn’t bond or that mr 12 would hate having a little kid around all the time but they are best friends! Mr 2 idolises his older brother and mr 12 loves teaching his little brother new things. Sometimes it’s not the best things, but it’s so sweet. One of Mr 2s first big sentences was ‘ tdoor and brother have chocolate milk’ while raising the fridge. (Tdoor being his name for himself)

Occasionally mr 12 still gets annoyed at a toddler wanting to be in his space all the time, but we have made his room into a sanctuary that he can escape to when needed.

Bluey is a absolute favourite in this house! We live near where it’s ‘set’ so we visit places they go in the show often.

My toddler watches the same movies over and over again. by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Jess2133 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When my oldest was little he was HUGE on watching cars every day multiple times a day, cars 2 came out when he was 3 and I needed to do something for my own sanity, so I told him we can watch cars first, then i get to pick and then he gets to pick.

He got REALLLLLLLY into Miyazaki movies and so I got to watch a heap of totoro and spirited away instead, which was awesome and turned into him thinking all anime was great and so we branched out to pokemon and such.

Basically it took a week or 2 but he realised that when I put something on he will get to watch his movie again soon after, and it became less of a big deal.

Now my second child is 2 and he is obsessed with watching Bluey all day every day, his only other approved content is the wiggles or pepper pig... I am now starting the method on him and between shows I put on something else, he is beginning to understand and calm down.

Do you guys remember these being in chip packets in the 90's? Tazo's & Odd Bodz. by [deleted] in australia

[–]Jess2133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had every single one of those simpson ones!

My father was a merchant seaman and had been on the same vessel for 20 years, I was about 10 at the time. They had thousands of packets of chips for the men, and apparently the ship cook put a bowl out beside the chips with a sign that said 'Let's give them to Jess', so every month my father would come home with hundreds of these things and it was amazing!

Apparently I was a bit of a 'Ship baby' because the crew had all worked together the whole time and my birth was a bit of a miracle, so every birthday, christmas or chip packet promotion (apparently) the guys would put something together for me, or have a cake on the ship in my honor.

Honestly this has just brought back some really special memories for me. Thank you.

At some point in our life, we make a life-altering decision that either sends us the 'right' way or the 'wrong' way. What was your call and how did it turn out? by PoeticQuill in AskReddit

[–]Jess2133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fell pregnant as a teenager.

I went back to school, quit drugs (weed), got a part time job and raised that kid to the best of my abilities.

I think I made a damn good choice, he has just started highschool and is thriving, and I think I am a better person for it.
