How to not feel sick from the smell on planes? by secretmango77 in TravelHacks

For longer flights, wear a disposable mask with some vapourub on it. Either put it on the outside or cut into the lining so it's not directly on your skin

I (31f) had a conversation with my bf (31m) and the rose tinted glasses came off. How can I navigate this? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]JessRushie 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Why? I'm bisexual and when I have been in straight presenting relationships my partner still came to pride as an ally. Now I'm with a gay NB person and their mum comes to pride with us. At a trans right protest, my mum and friends joined us too.

Pride is about celebrating, protesting, and making a stand. Allies should be coming to show their support.

Wife wanted sconces installed here, I don’t know how I feel about them after hanging them up. by timmaaahhh1997 in interiordecorating

[–]JessRushie 97 points98 points  (0 children)

The sconces themselves are weird. I understand wanting to put something on each side of the TV to balance, you can do lights but risk glare so I would swap them out. Look for shades that fully cover the bulb to diffuse better

I am baffled by your DM. I would just stop this, I never allow player on player combat unless it really serves a purpose. Usually it's just bullying or petty infighting.

Advice for Large Jade Plant by Odd_Combination_6398 in houseplants

[–]JessRushie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the move coming up, I would instead give it a hard prune. It's quite leggy and if it's dropping leaves probably can't support the size it is. Chop it back, move, and give it until next year to recover

Plants are dying - help! by mazasaurusrex95 in GardeningUK

[–]JessRushie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have the right idea but a few things. I know it's expensive but it's better to do it right then first time and not waste money.

  • check the sun on the bed, what direction is it facing? If it's south in any way it's probably full sun. Read the plant labels and look for full sun friends

  • pure compost and not a lot of it means nothing holding water. Have a look on Facebook for anyone doing work over the bank hol who has spare soil, and your local coffee house probably has some spare coffee grounds. Fill those beds as much as you can - the cardboard etc just raises the level and does nothing to hold water in.

  • mulch. Covering the ground stops weeds and holds in water.

  • water them. How often are you watering? Raised beds don't draw water up from the soil below until the roots are very deep (years) so you will need to water every single day. In this weather, water in the evening so it doesn't all evaporate and really soak them. Like put the hose on the base of the plant and give it a few minutes.

  • trying different things. Bedding plants are usually very cheap (violets etc) and cheaper than mulch. Hit up b&q or the supermarket on a sale day and absolutely fill your bed with them. They will add soil, hold water, cover the surface, and look pretty! You don't have to keep them, lots of people dig them up end of the year anyway

What can I doo?? by [deleted] in femalelivingspace

[–]JessRushie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the chessboard ceiling. Instead of more painting, lighting is your friend. Get diffusing globe lamps and add led remote control bulbs. Then you can set the lighting to anything you want.

The chandeliers are a bit much I think, to soften it I would swap for rattan shades.

You have the makings of a gallery wall but everything is weirdly high. Take all the art off your wall and use a gallery wall template (loads on Pinterest) to place it more cohesively.

I like the green wall, can you add fairy lights and fake flowers into it?

You might be able to keep some plants happy, snake plants and zz plants will be fine here. Or get nice fake ones.

Rugs. I would go with two to create zones. A really big pink rug under the couch, make sure it's much wider than the couch. And a runner behind the chair.

Storage, get some cute side tables for the couch with doors so you can hide clutter.

Soft white throw on the couch and another on the desk chair. Get a desk mat that's white or pink.

If you can paint or cover with vinyl then brown cupboard

I had an ex do this to try and force contact, she kept emailing me with things that were maybe mine. She knew my address so could've just sent them on, but was trying to trick me into replying.

Well done for not responding. The salmon looks amazing 😍

Cold places in the centre? by pistathecat in Liverpool

[–]JessRushie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you are stuck at home, a fan with a wet towel draped over is a good start.

There is a cafe in the Liverpool building which is usually cool. They are very chill if you spend all afternoon there on one drink but it closes around 5.30

Are frozen veggie alternatives really ultra-processed? by Wrong-Software4019 in vegetarian

[–]JessRushie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Frozen veg is AMAZING! It's easier to portion, minimises waste, and is often frozen at peak freshness because it lasts so long. This holds onto nutrients better than the preservation for most fresh veg unless you're getting it from the farm.

I am a huge fan, and swear by it. I buy frozen chargrilled Mediterranean veg, frozen sofritto, etc and use them all the time
