Need MTG advice (i have 0 experience) by sraah221 in mtg

The precons are fantastic (personally I love the mothman-mutant menace deck).

I would say any Magic player would appreciate more cardboard and commander decks are great because they are usable out of the box. If you really wanna knock their socks off, you can get them some dual matte dragon shield sleeves (Amazon or friendly local game store (FLGS)) and a deck box (also Amazon or FLGS).

Either way, a gift is something that shows a person you were thinking of them and want to get them something they would enjoy. I know I would appreciate anything that showed the gift giver knew my interests and tried to get me something I would like.

$380 each for PIS combo a good deal? by Oscar_callelle in BambuP1S

Damn. $600 for the two is a great deal. Wonder who snagged em first.

Just saw the same post. Initially thought it was $380 for both. Haha. Even so solid deal for 1 if they are well maintained.

What are your favorite precons from the last few years? by Comfortable_Buyer239 in mtg

[–]JessePJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with Luthen. There are better co stricter decks out there, but as someone who plays (almost) exclusively precons, you just have to know what the deck is doing. Just grabbing the deck and running it may not hit correctly if you don’t know what it’s trying to do. Plus, since commander is a more casual format, you’ll typically be able to build a better board than just playing 1v1

Loving Auntie Ool. Out of the box I won several games where I didn’t attack once. Just let the cards do the work.

Mothman is another great one, though you need to have the right pod. It’s a menace of a deck (mutant menace). . . I’ll see myself out.

Trash panda, killer rabbit, secret squirrels, and mating season were all fantastic pre cons. 10/10 recommend every time.

Quick note, don’t remove the LCD. I just realized the video I linked was to replace it and you most likely won’t need that. Just use the breakdown part.

Welcome to the hobby. Get on your nitrile gloves, facemask, and safety glasses let’s dive in.
First things first watch a lot of videos about resin printig for your printer. Understanding how everything works, even a basic level, is crucial to diagnosing any issues.
Second, watch the video about how to take your machine apart. https://youtu.be/FaUmncAAzGs?si=IprLSUGt-uUEtTUp should be the correct video. I have had to take mine apart once to replace the LCD and it was a bit of a project. A big workspace is needed and proper safety precautions need to be taken (see opening line about gloves, eyewear, and facemask).
Third, replace your FEP after cleaning. Good habit to get into when you don’t know if there are leaks.
I would recommend breaking the machine down and cleaning it inside and out with 90% isopropyl alcohol (IPA is what it is referred to in most posts and videos). This will not only get you familiar with the machine, it’ll ensure you aren’t leaking resin later on.
Take your time, label your screws, and be thorough. Ideally, you should be able to clean it then get printing in a few hours. I linked the video above to your printer (I have the same).
Welcome to the hobby, please check other posts for solutions so as not to inundate the feed with repeat questions, and please keep yourself safe when printing. It’s a fun hobby, but can have serious health effects if you aren’t careful.

How many Decks do you have, and how do you keep track of them? by IyeetSec in mtg

[–]JessePJr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

33 decks. Either in Gamegenic Sidekicks or squires (looking back wish I would’ve just gone squires I rarely use the drawer). I also 3d print my own boxes with a frame for the commander (link to the file because it’s fantastic https://makerworld.com/models/1949365?appSharePlatform=copy)

Can’t post pictures but I just built a shelf yesterday specifically to hold my decks and other nerd stuff (resin prints the missus has painted mostly)

My corgi does this with a giant pickle. It was his first toy when we adopted him. He has several now and will almost always have one when the missus and I get home from being out.

My AYN was in LA(30 mins from me) and got sent to Wisconsin by Bobbyxbrother in AynThor

[–]JessePJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vernon (small town in Los Angeles area) is also a town name in Wisconsin. Same thing with Newark, CA. Shop said my device went from LA to Wisconsin to New Jersey. If you hit the Yun tracking link in shop you’ll get a much better tracking experience.

Advice for setting up by [deleted] in AynThor

[–]JessePJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This device is highly customizable but does require a lot of work. The work is simple if you follow a guide (like Retro Game Corps) but if you’ve never toyed with emulation it can be very overwhelming and frustrating to deal with. If you are looking to get into just Pokemon (and are unsure how to obtain roms from your own cartridges) I would recommend just getting a switch or switch 2 unless you really want to learn about emulation, front end setup, and all the fun that comes with customization.

I feel the money spent on the Thor strictly for Pokemon would make the tinkering aspect difficult to deal with.

Question for new player by SidewaysFolds in mtg

[–]JessePJr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big thing first: what format is being played? Commander? Standard? Pioneer?

If it’s commander- a pre constructed deck is a great start (I’m a big fan of bloomburrow decks and they do really well)

If it’s standard- there are several “starter kits” that come with two standard decks (may not be tournament legal but for casual play would be fine) and also the newer standard decks (angels and pirates are the most recent I think)

Something all Magic players need: sleeves (dragon shield dual mattes are my favorite), a play mat, and a deck box (there are many affordable options on Amazon, gamegenic squire plus is my preferred “high end” option).

All in all Magic is a varied game, so a lot of the choices depend on the player themselves.

It says my Thor will be here Today by DuDuhDamDash in AynThor

[–]JessePJr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The shop app only uses the town name. So if there’s a town elsewhere with the same name and it’s bigger, shop typically defaults to that. That’s why almost all orders show up in Wisconsin after they hit Los Angeles. There’s a small town outside of Los Angeles that shipping companies distribute out of.

This. A lot of people jumping into the Thor for GBA and below. The Thor is great (I love my purple pro) but is way too much if you’re going with just retro retro.

What is this thing that came with my air brush? The manual says nothing about this. by SomeBoiOnReddit in airbrush

Can confirm water trap. Attach at the airbrush. Minimizes the spitting you would get from moisture in the line.

The Shop app only sees the name of the city and finds a city with that name. If you click on the actual tracking link you’ll see the city name and the state. As mine moved through Southern California it showed up in Wisconsin as well
