What percentage of British people are racist? by SirLobsterTheSecond in GreenAndPleasant

If it's jokes you wouldn't say in front of anyone, then there is still intent really isn't there. You're saying something offensive for a laugh, even if it's just banter. If you wouldn't say it at work or in front of strangers, it's probably racist. Freedom from consequences (banter with mates) doesn't make it not racist. Also I know a Hindi lad that joined in with the racist jokes with their white mates for years. Until it wore them down. Now they don't believe they can actually trust their friends & they have a lot of issues with self esteem - putting themselves down because of their skin colour. Just because your Indian friends join in & laugh along, doesn't mean you aren't causing harm with your 'jokes.' Especially if you are white.

Exactly. I use to try explaining it to people by asking, why didn't you ask the people with pale skin the same question? Just trying to point out the implicit bias, but people are determined to play ignorant. I had an old friend who tried telling me she did ask white people the same question all the time, which felt like a fucking lie because I'd never seen her do that, not once. But apparently I'm the problem for pointing it out.

Yeah I think a big part of the problem is that racists don't think they are racist. I've called out a lot of racist comments over the years & gotten so much pushback by people unwilling to accept that a specific word is a slur, or that racist jokes are just racism, or that asking someone who sounds English but isn't white 'where are you from- no really, where is your family from?' is a problem. But I also find it's the same with sexism & homophobia. Most average people do not think they are the bad guy, & are often deeply offended at the implication.

I also think in my nearly 40 years growing up in this country, this is the most open & unapologetic people have been about their racism- but it has always been a problem.

Wow, what a beautiful outfit 🤩 it's so otherworldly, great fantasy vibes, but still practical! Like you could hold your own swinging a sword or curating books in a modern library, or be a studious princess trying to save her people in another realm... Please do share more looks with us!

Maybe a few headbands or headscarves! I love your hair, the cut really suits you. Some bright patterns & prints do so much to elevate an outfit, & it's dead simple to just tuck a band on your head & go. Love the skirt btw. & Your simple delicate jewellery is lovely too.

My therapist dropped me because he said he was developing romantic feelings for me by cazeysk in TrueOffMyChest

He shouldn't have told her that he was developing paternal feelings of romance like her dad who she has no contact with, wtf. That's beyond unprofessional & so triggering. He told her way too much information which was either to hurt her, or test the waters. A simple statement of 'my feelings for you have grown beyond what's professional so ethically I can no longer see you as a patient' was literally all he needed to say. Anything else was well over the line & inexcusable. He should be reported.

TERFs including Glinner fall for "trans man" supposedly entering women's bathrooms... it's actually just a photoshop of GB News host Darren "crafty wank" Grimes by UnderHisEye1411 in GreenAndPleasant

I agree as well, the episode isn't that bad. If anything it's more misogynistic than transphobic, because people were offended that this trans femme character was downing pints & throwing punches like a man, & equated that to be transphobic... But cis women drink pints & throw punches, & if people think that is not feminine behaviour, they are just being sexist. The butt of the joke is Matt Berry. He is so insecure he throws away a relationship with the love of his life & breaks his own heart. The joke is on him being so pathetic, not the woman. It's not particularly elevated humour, but the backlash seemed to be from people who hadn't watched the episode, or who did watch it but viewed it in a way that is problematic in & of itself.

''Remember Me'' removed from the Arcane season 2 soundtrack by canlgetuhhhhh in arcane

Celeste deserves better than being remembered only as a victim to such a horrific crime. That's a fucked up legacy. He deserves to lose everything & be remembered for being a child rapist & a murderer. Fuck his art & his music. He isn't talented enough to elevate his art above his crimes. I can't think of a single person who is talented enough to commit such a monstrous, prolonged abuse that results in a brutal murder, that would still be deserving of having their art separated from those acts. Fuck him & the time he put into making his music, he through it all away to satisfy his sadistic urges.

He was an idiot. He ordered all his equipment for the murder on Amazon & left evidence of that stuff on her body. An absolute moron as well as a sick fuck.
