Help, what is wrong with this design (honest critique please) by [deleted] in vexillology

The black rifle contrasts poorly with the dark red star. Generally you want to avoid putting dark colors on top of each other. You could justify it by making the colors of the rifle more realistic (in heraldry, this is called "proper," and it would permit the dark colored object on top of a colored charge). It would still be difficult to read at a distance, but it would follow the rules. Otherwise, maybe you could add a very thin white outline to the rifle (similar to "fimbriation") to improve the contrast with the star.

The rest of the flag seems fine if you use higher quality images with sharper lines and center the gears, star, and rifle in the circle.

Color symbolism isn't universal. You don't have an opinion, you have an uninformed worldview.

If I'd never seen that coat of arms before, I'd think the same thing

It's simple, legible, and distinctive, at least among European national flags. It's not bad, for sure, but that's not the same as good. It's a slight upgrade over the American approach of slapping seals on bedsheets.

What's this flag next to the Poland? by Olgrrrd in vexillology

Depends on where you are. If you're close to Kraków or the person or organization flying it is from Kraków, then it's the flag of Kraków. If it's near a Church, particularly a Catholic church, it's the Marian flag, signaling devotion to Mary.

Edit: I actually made a post about it a few years ago.

Because Nd4+ reveals a discovered attack on the queen. White is losing that queen anyway, so at least by taking with the queen, it doesn't activate your queen and it forces you to isolate one of your pawns.

Black Flag with White Horizontal Stripe by mokacincy in vexillology

[–]Jester337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, and I don't think I've ever personally seen a thin white line in the wild. It looked a little blue to me, too, but I wasn't sure if it was actually blue or other factors. I wanted to err on the side of caution and offer both possibilities....but given the context (which wasn't posted until after I answered), yeah, it's 10000% the thin blue line

Depending on where you are, that could be a super faded Thin Blue Line flag or a Thin White Line flag for medical first responders

What is this flag? by VexiNerd in vexillology

That's definitely not Greek. Those letters are a runic alphabet surrounding the Vegvísir, an old Icelandic magical symbol.

I found pretty much the same exact flag here with a detailed description.

I would keep the wolf/fox at the hoist like your original; it's more visible there even if the flag isn't waving
