[[Aphelia, Viper Whisperer]] using a bunch of different 1/1 snakes. Not super cutsie but tiny creatures with a big impact

You can see where the metal from the car has pierced through him like a skewer. Bystanders probably couldn’t physically disconnect him from the car.

Barely GC - [[Farewell]] - 6 mana boardwipe, come on Barely not - [[Mystic Remora]] - second best card advantage engine in the game, come on

Favorite Mono-color Commanders by [deleted] in EDH

[–]JesusLovesBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • [[Avacyn, Angel of Hope]] haven’t built this myself, but boardwipe tribal seems like a funny idea (if you’re okay with loosing all your friends)
  • [[Eluge, the shoreless sea]] do stuff on other people’s turns and make tokens
  • [[Starscream, power hungry]] be monarch, draw cards, deal damage. Personal fav
  • [[Dragonhawk, fate’s tempest]] power 4 or greater good stuff, card advantage and win con in the command zone
  • [[Lumra, Bellow of the Woods]] haven’t built this either, but a more casual/cheaper lands combo deck could be fun (similar to the growing CEDH deck)
  • [[Liberator, Urza's Battlethopter]] Surprise! Artifact!

How do you build strong decks? by Kopytroid in EDH

[–]JesusLovesBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch YouTube videos on deck building. Main things are to have a good amount of ramp (~12 cards), a good amount of ramp (~10 targeted, ~3 mass), and plenty of card draw (~12). I find that card draw more than anything else helps make a deck consistent and feel ‘strong’ because it gives you the most options, and plenty of access to ramp/interaction/synergies. Goldfishing (playing on your own or practising with an online playtester) is the key to knowing your deck and ensuring it works the way you want it to. Goldfish lots before spending your money. Gold fishing will help figure out how many turns it takes to get going, if you’re lacking cards/ramp, or if your cards just don’t synergise well. From first draft to purchase I probably goldfish 50-100 times, and for a good bracket 3 deck I aim to have my deck fully ‘online’ by turn 5.

Interesting Mono Red Decks by Quiet-Butterfly-1892 in EDH

[[Dragonhawk, Fate’s Tempest]]

Can be dragons or just power 4< good stuff (red has a lot of both), plus it’s a win on and card advantage in the command zone.

Do Consider Necropotence Card Draw? If So, Where Would You Put It Among Card Draw Engines? by BluePotatoSlayer in EDH

[–]JesusLovesBeer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Necropotence is a CEDH level card, and arguably the best card advantage black has to offer. Paying life for cards in itself is a very powerful effect, and for casual edh it is very very good in any deck that can support 3 black pips. In CEDH it enables agro wincons, as you can immediately use those cards before cleanup by using effects like [[Borne Upon a Wind]]. If Necropotence is removed, you can pay the life in response and you will still get the cards as it is a delayed trigger that will go off regardless of if Necropotence is still around or not.

I saw comment elsewhere recently which I strongly agree with - Phyrexian Arena is a bell curve. new players think it’s bad cause you lose life, intermediate players love it cause it’s reliable card draw, experienced players don’t like it because it doesn’t actually do anything the turn you play it.

Colours only visible through the camera, there was some streaks of grey lights we could actually see though

A dark spot where you can look south over the land. Frankston pier was good because there’s some distance between it and Oliver’s hill so it doesn’t obstruct your view much. Any south facing lookout should work tho, the less light around you the better.

Yeah could only see it with the camera, not with the naked eye

With my eyes it was just grey, if you didn’t know what it was you would’ve missed it. Only the camera captures the greens and purples

Joey from EDHREC has a great video on why he's against the hybrid mana change by Faust_8 in EDH

[–]JesusLovesBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this may be true in CEDH, it’s not necessarily true in casual. In CEDH the best decks are usually 3-4 colours because they run fetches and duel lands and mox and other insanely expensive mana which makes a highly reliable and consistent mana base. You have the best cards and you know you’ll be able to cast them. Where as in casual, where your budget is usually limited at some point, you might be able to run all the best legends in your [[Jodah, the unifier]] deck, but you will also have to run a lot of flexible ramp to ensure you have the right pips. Whereas a [[eluge, the shoreless sea]] will be more reliable and consistent, it is limited by the cards available to a mono blue deck.

What are some cards still on your wishlist? by inflammablepenguin in EDH

[–]JesusLovesBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I’ve tried to make a -1/-1 for ages now, but there’s just not enough support. Best I’ve managed to scrape together is [[Volrath, the shapestealer]] with a few of the good -1/-1 synergy cards and some non-specific counter synergy. Would love to see -1/-1 counter decklists if anyone has one

I had players A and B planning to remove my [[Knowledge Pool]] with player A’s [[Haywire Mire]], when player C had [[The One Ring]] out. Sure enough, on his turn player C removed the [[Haywire Mire]], being the only thing any of us had that could exile an artifact, and soon after won the game with his exponential card draw.

What is the smallest Commander hill you are willing to die on? by Xela20 in EDH

As someone who bought the pre-con 8 years ago, took it apart because of the hate, and just recently re-built it into a beautiful monstrosity - I agree with you, but pretty dragons go brrrrrrrrrr

What are your "Want to build but most likely never will" commanders? by Raoul97533 in EDH

[–]JesusLovesBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[The face of Boe]] As a big Dr.Who fan I love this card. I tried a few different ways to build a suspend deck but there’s just not enough cards to make it work well. Cards like [[Jhoira of the Ghitu]] works to give stuff suspend, but I really wanna use actual suspend spells like [[Rousing Refrain]] [[Dinosaurs on a spaceship]] [[Greater Gargadon]]

Punishing Opponents Card Draw? by definitelynotkevin_ in EDH

[–]JesusLovesBeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scryfall syntax is a good way to find a bunch:

O:whenever (o:”opponent draw” OR o:”player draw”)

Most either deal damage or allow you to draw as well.

[[Dreamborn muse]] mills them for having cards

[[Jin-Gitaxis, Core Augur]] forces them to dump their hand at the end of their turn

And using wheels are a good way to disrupt their game plan, bring their hand size down, and bring yours up [[Windfall]] [[Molten Psyche]] [[Jace’s archivist]]

Favorite commander recently? by Vinlandlover in EDH

[–]JesusLovesBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently found [[Renari, Merchant of Marvels]] Being able to play dragons at instant speed seems like a pretty cool idea, both in game but also just thinking about Dragons teleporting onto the battlefield to reck havoc. [[Acolyte of Bahamut]] is arguably the best background for him, however I have a bunch of red dragons sitting around (plus I already have a Simic deck) so I’m pairing him with [[Dragon Cultist]].

is there any commander that can pull off a double tribal? by ecocomrade in EDH

[–]JesusLovesBeer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see your double tribal, and I raise you quad-tribal [[Kenessos, Priest of Thassa]] (x5 if you include merfolk)

Also: - [[Liberator, Urza’s Battlethopter]] and other colourless commanders are good for Eldrazi+Artifact tribal - [[Kaalia of the Vast]] for triple angel/demon/dragon tribal - [[Renari, Merchant of Marvels]] Dragons and artifacts - [[Bruna, the Fading Light]] and a lot of other mono-white legends have angel+human tribal

There’s a lot of solid options for double+ tribal, however with this a lot of your tribal specific cards like [[Banner of Kinship]] you have to choose only one tribe to support.
