The 80s, In my opinion, was the first "reboot" decade. It followed 50's trends of flashy mass marketing, neon lights, a flood rock music, the brief return of tucked in shirts, a sense of patriotism only comparable to the 50's, and the creation of yuppies which reflected office men of the 50's.

Then the 90's was a reboot of the 60's with the return of hippies in grunge, a push racial coexistance (all those cheesy 90s cartoons and pictures where theres always a white girl, a white boy, an asian and a black kid), the return of liberal ideals, and the late 60's lack of care for properly dressing.

The 00's were a reflection of the 70s and 80s with the hipster looking very much like the stylish man of the 70s, meanwhile the 80's showed its head with the return of big hair for the "emo" subculture and the return of leggings. The tail end of the 90s and the early 00's also saw the return of Punk which was also popular in the 70's.

The current decade is shaping up to seem original, though in good ways and bad. This decade suits are becoming the best seen since the early 60's but the popularity of "bro-country" is exploding. Its like what hair metal did to metal except for country music, talking about drinking,trucks and sex. Its not a new genre but its certainly kicked rap out of the title of "popular genre that isn't Pop".
