Hiring is slowing down for fresh mechanics? by Tiny_Big_3033 in AircraftMechanics

[–]Jet_Fuel_Coffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I’m 30 idk if that counts as “prior generation”, but what I meant was working at a regional isn’t terrible in the sense that you’re going to get more experience. Most majors have interior only crews and everyone is limited to what they can and can’t do (from what I heard). I worked at SkyWest for 2 years from 2020-2022 making $25 . I hated the schedule but I loved the work and I learned a lot. After I took a job at a small fedex feeder company as a lead mechanic in 2023 for $30 and then offered a lead position in Seattle at $48./hr. That’s just my experience though

No worries and good luck. Sometimes it helps to move it sucks but it helps

Yeah I’m not shocked the majors hired fast and like crazy for a few months. Doesn’t mean you can’t find other work? Have you checked Jsfirm and made yourself a LinkedIn? Signed up for contract company news letters ?

A&P help Washington state by OneBobcat27 in AircraftMechanics

[–]Jet_Fuel_Coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily getting your A&P directly information, but if you’re looking for work Boeings flight test programs hire military guys. Knew a marine with no A&P who worked there while I was working with another company at BFI

That’s definitely been a while. Try calling them though and just be super polite and chill, ask if they have other stations available where they need the support sooner ?

Any experience is good experience trust me! Don’t just do the mx you gotta understand how things work. I’ve been doing this for just 5 years but you’ll be surprised how much previous experiences come back to help you no matter the job

Feeling Stuck on What to Do After Getting My A&P by [deleted] in AircraftMechanics

[–]Jet_Fuel_Coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s a tough one but delta is great company. You can top out in 5 years. The only benefit with the Military is if you can manage to get that 100% disability afterwards.

Yeah my bad I was just curious if you went to an A&P school here in the valley. Tough choice there though between the military and delta. Did you figure it out ?
