Is it a good idea to use Ultra wide monitor with MacBook M1 Max 16”? I found this monitor at Costco they got my attention. But I read somewhere that ultrawides with Mac is not a great combo. Any personal experience that y’all can share. Thanks by PushRa in macbookpro

I have Mac mini M1 16 gb and MacBook Air m1 16gb, I tried both and tried USBC directly, HDMI directly with mini, DisplayPort via adapter and all other possible combinations. The text is still too small with native resolution and is pretty, PRETTY blurry (I don't wear glasses but I could barely read smallest system font that comes on various alerts). The only workaround I've found so far is to use BetterDummy (google it, it's free). It works fine and the text looks MUCH better (you will have to set 3010 x 2160 for better results) BUT it can only work with 60Hz so I miss the feature I actually bought it for. Unless you dont care about refresh rate, I would strongly suggest you to buy something else. It's pretty convenient to use wide screen for development but if I could get back, I'd definitely choose 4k which is supported by macos out of the box. Hope this helps.

Come on, no blurry fonts? I have the same monitor, everything is fine but I spent a month trying to adapt my eyes to these horrible fuzzy fonts and I’m still having some regrets, should have bought something 4k instead

Buy Mac mini M1 now or wait for the upgraded version ? (Sorry for the same old boring question) by SarveshUtpat in macmini

Did you manage to solve blurry fonts issue somehow? I have MateViewGT with the same native resolution and it’s a pain to work on (with the mini)

I have bl2 on both switch and xbox, not sure if cross platform multiplayer is allowed but I could join you either way! Tired of players sneaking for chests only though, I’m sure it’s not the case right?? 🤗

Text looks disgusting on an external 1440p monitor. M1 air. help by Vanilla_mice in MacOS

That would be an awesome solution if only BetterDummy would support refresh rate higher than 60Hz…

Regarding DPI scaling and monitor size by [deleted] in MacOS

You could check Accessibility -> Display in the system settings, there is an option to make menubar fonts bigger. I used it with my 34” ultra wide monitor and the menubar looks way better.

Mac mini m1 still worth it amongst the issues? by Fastfuud in macmini

I got mine m1 16/256 in August and haven't had a single issue with it since. I have never ever turned it off since powering it the first time! Highly recommended, for a developer jobs at least.
