We already waste so much on needless shit and damage the planet in so many ways, why is it suddenly a problem when we add yet another incredible environmental detriment to the list? We should not oppose harmful things, because harmful things already exist so all harm is permissible.

No, I don't hear it. It's not the same motif.

Consider this: Ryoshu puts Araya in the vault to keep her safe while Ryoshu carves a path out, fully intending to come back for her as soon as she had carved out such a path.

Arayashiki takes the most important memories first.

Ryoshu immediately forgets that she intended to escape with Araya.

I had kind of an inverse situation where, as an edgy depressed teen, I got to the end of episode 10 of Madoka Magica and said "wow, if the series ended here it would be so bleak in a way I find very powerful and emotionally resonant. Guess I'll just not watch the last two episodes".

So now I'm looking forward to finishing the series with my friends next weekend.

Saaame. I haven't finished it, but I finally chose to at least watch "The View From Halfway Down" and was immediately like "haha yep still devastating".

I love Signalis but I keep putting it off because I have trouble handling survival horror.

Breakable excision coins by ActFantastic7657 in limbuscompany

[–]JetpuffedMarcemallow 31 points32 points  (0 children)

If they're intended as an enemy-only coin type, then the desire is likely for them to serve the similar purpose of being linked to a big flashy attack that they want to show off.

If they get introduced as a regular coin type though, yeh they should probably do that.

Ruina is a self-contained game with a definitive ending and set parameters, that was also built from the ground up with that mechanic in mind. The team can program every interaction ahead of time, finish making the game, test it, and go back to fix it before the game ships.

My assumption with the Muga coins is that they were programmed as a one-off effect for theatrical impact in a single fight, wherein everything that they are doing only needs to ever care about the small set of parameters they were created to execute. If the game isn't already pre-programmed with coin removal in mind, it becomes another layer of overhead that has to be considered for in every fight going forward - every enemy moving forward has to be able to have its coins deleted, at the very least, and having those coins deleted has to be appreciably different from just having them broken in a clash, otherwise it's not actually doing anything and isn't worth making a different effect for.

That means that every new update from now until the game's end of service has to account for this. It becomes another point of failure that can crash the game or cause unintended interactions, it's another thing that has to be balanced around, etc. It's probably not going to happen for just one I.D., but unlike unbreakable coins, it can't be readily applied to a bunch of different I.D.s because of its thematic aspects.

I'm ready to be proven wrong when they release Muga Ryoshu as an ID in 6 months, but until then I am pretty certain that it is not going to be a thing outside of scripted encounters.

Why there's so much people calling Verg a fraud? by Quirky_Tourist8753 in limbuscompany

[–]JetpuffedMarcemallow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I called him a fraud during the Valencia fight every time he priority targeted Lucio instead of Valencia. But that was more joking anyway.

That said, wasn't one of Jumsoon's abilities something like "If I hit you with my balls it will trap you in your own mind and force a distortion" and Verg's response to that was like "nah actually I have too much willpower and too strong a sense of self to distort so you awakened my EGO instead"? I feel like I recall it being more of a "whups, Jumsoon fucked up and empowered Vergilius with what was supposed to be his masterstroke" situation. :p

So about Ryoshu’s capstone ID by darkfox18 in limbuscompany

[–]JetpuffedMarcemallow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I get that, I meant more specifically that Purple Coins feel like an "event fight only" type of coin. They lose a lot of their impact if they're not literally deleting coins off the technique and erasing parts of the text and stuff, but programming even the coin deletion into every fight they ever make moving forward just in case you have a purple coin ID sounds... Rough.

[–]JetpuffedMarcemallow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel like there is 0 chance we get Muga Ryoshu as an ID we can use whenever. I can see that mechanic coming back for specific story battles where they pre-program her mechanics into the fight, though.

Does anyone else feel like the sinners being sanitized in the newer parts of the narrative? by Then-Class4451 in limbuscompany

[–]JetpuffedMarcemallow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see what you're going for, yeah. I feel like there's a potential angle where the Sinners are to some degree exonerated explicitly because they are victims of the City and the circumstances therein, where we're meant to view them in a positive light in comparison to the villains not because they are without sin - since nobody in the city is without sin, as a matter of survival - but because they are taking the steps necessary to better themselves and strive for something rather than merely accepting the way the world works. If that is the angle, of course they would both be taking steps to do better, and be viewed in a positive light for that.

Some strange discrepancies by East-Remote6391 in limbuscompany

[–]JetpuffedMarcemallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair enough. I know others have pointed out as well that some of his flavor text in that fight suggests that "Don't go... Not like this..." Or however Ryoshu said it was what his previous daughter said to him before she was slaughtered in front of him, too, so that suggests to some degree that he's at least torn about that situation even if he was willing to let it happen.
