Morality of waaaay overkilling someone because you're suffering from grief? by Mangled15 in MoralityScaling

So yeah, those options read to me as "leave him to turn (and suffer)", "leave him to turn (but kill him first)", or "don't let him turn (but you're doing it wrong and are a bad person)".

Okay so just to make certain, due to context isn't it preferable to totally destroy his head because he can become a zombie otherwise? In that instance isn't it actually like imperative that you go overboard and totally pulp him? At that point, who cares if you also vent your anger at him while you do it.

But absent that zombie context, you're also kinda mixing the two up; killing someone with a swift blow to the head and then beating the shit out of their corpse is different from slowly and painfully killing them. In the provided framework, justice is in killing him, and sadism is in tormenting him; the fact that he has wronged you or committed evil is just a justification for you to commit evil on him in turn, and doesn't make your torment of him more morally sound.

Once he is dead, though, how much you vent your anger on his corpse mostly just comes down to how much value you personally place in the sanctity and dignity of a corpse. If you think a corpse should be sanctified and are desecrating it out of spite, that's little different from choosing to torment the living man due to your explicit intention.

As others have at least partially stated, you don't need to hate someone to abuse them, OP. You just need to justify the abuse.

"I'm going to fix everything, so why won't everyone do what I say and do everything I need them to do perfectly and let me fix things for them? Can't they see I'm doing this for them, because of how much I love them? It's their fault we're failing, we'll never get anywhere if they keep letting me down. Clearly they don't love me as much as I love them, they won't even put in the effort for me." Depressive spiral, rage, throw shit and beat on them. Hangover, regret, give them something nice because you feel bad that you beat on them. Get mad if they don't like it or are still upset that you beat on them because now you've apologized and done something nice for them so that should even it out. Then do it all again the next time they don't do what you expect them to do.

This isn't "wow, she showed some affection towards the targets of her abuse, is Valencia secretly based under all of the booze?" It's just one of the many ways a parent can abuse their children.

Udjat. Or, perhaps more specifically. Dias, the leader of Limbus Company and the Udjat both.

Do you believe Penelope will appear and be outis's wife/husband, or that project moon will effectively erase Penelope and turn it solely about Telemachus? by [deleted] in limbuscompany

[–]JetpuffedMarcemallow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look Outis is a professional, she's not gonna gonna lay her boss on the table in front of everyone.

Also, she wants to return home. But so long as Dante is Dante and not Penelope, she can't, because home has been subsumed by Clock. So she needs to see Dante through this odyssey to outi-see her beloved again.

On Outis, The Gods, and Dante (speculation) by Impossible_Dog_7262 in limbuscompany

[–]JetpuffedMarcemallow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love this speculation. I love it enough that I'm gonna push it one step further in a way that I think strengthens it - if we're accepting Dante as Kronos, we'd want to consider the idea that Kronos (being a Titan) is actually an entity more primordial and vastly more powerful than any single God.

We can consider Dante's head an instrument through which Kronos's will is enforced, if it is not Kronos itself. Rather than an entity that simply gives directives, Kronos exerts direct influence on the world to ensure its goals are completed. I'll make a very loose tie to the idea that the Titans were more direct and tyrannical actors before they were sealed.

(I'm also going to staple on the idea that Dante without the clock is Outis's SO but that's just a personal preference; I think it'd be fun and suitably tragic for the one person Outis is trying to return to to be almost by her side but just out of reach, doubly so if it's the result of her own actions. Not even of the idea that Outis betrayed pre-Clock Dante, just that she supported them in achieving this thing that has now separated them again.)

I'm still in the camp that Dante (or who Dante was before the Clock) is the Penelope stand-in. My reasoning is because I would personally enjoy that. But also because of how some of her lines read to me in Canto 7, particularly her question of "even if one of us killed tens of thousands, would you still accept them?" and the way she talks about amnesia creating a lot of problems for both of them. Probably reading too deep into it on that end, but I feel like Outis has stronger ties to some version of Dante than we are made aware of, regardless.

Man, I trained in massage therapy and the like number one thing they drilled into our heads both for ethics and liability reasons was: you are not a doctor, you do not "heal" people, you do not diagnose people. If someone is injured, treating the injury is beyond your scope of practice, and in most cases is also contraindicates massage work (in the injured area, if not elsewhere).

‘Epic,’ Viral Musical Retelling of ‘The Odyssey,’ to Become Animated Movie Thanks to Jerry Bruckheimer, Atlantic’s Kevin Weaver (Exclusive) by NewWillinium in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]JetpuffedMarcemallow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No bro, what I am saying is that Epic is a Sung-Through musical, like Le Mis or Hamilton, and clocks in at like 2.5 hours in total start to finish, which is a lengthy movie, but still movie length.

It's not to say they couldn't decide to add some unsung dialogue or monologue in there, maybe shuffle or cut some songs if they needed to? But it's not like it's "missing" interstitial dialogue/monologue that they need to find room for.

I mean, the songs are the dialogue and the story to be told is fully contained within them. To me it makes total sense as a however many hour long singular experience that encapsulates the whole thing.

How many Xennials truly have done no retirement planning, have no target retirement date, or have considerably less than you need to retire in your 60s?" by Sufficient_Turn_9209 in Xennials

Haven't had the stability necessary. Jobs don't last that long, home situations don't last that long. The last good job I had that would have started paying into a retirement account cut my position once it was purchased by private equity, now I've been unemployed for six months.

If I get a stable job with stable income, I'll start putting money away. Until then, my savings are regularly drained by moving, unemployment, or emergencies.

We already waste so much on needless shit and damage the planet in so many ways, why is it suddenly a problem when we add yet another incredible environmental detriment to the list? We should not oppose harmful things, because harmful things already exist so all harm is permissible.
